Family of Former Resident - Family/Friend

Very Nice Place, But Expensive

They were very well staffed and possibly overstaffed, which was reflected in their prices. The place is beautiful and looks like a resort hotel. The Head Nurse was great and could even be reached by the staff after hours. The Admissions lady, [name removed], was incredible. They also had a nice bistro with snacks for the residents. The food was okay most days. My one pet peeve, which happened to our family and another family that we got to know, is that they have meetings which we didn't know about and weren't invited to during which it was determined that our family members in needed a higher level of care which resulted in an increase in their monthly fees. We received the news in a form letter which didn't even explain the reason for the need for increased care or the accompanying increase in costs. I talked to our mom's caregivers who all said that they hadn't noticed any increase in the amount of care needed.

Incredibly kind staff in a relaxed and flexible facility

We were drawn to Juniper because they are dog friendly and allow smoking. What impressed us the most was the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. If there are mistakes, there quickly addressed. Everybody knows my mom and her dog! And they're flexible rather than rigid which I think is vital for having a community and a home. We are very happy here.

Dependable Home Away From Home

Newer on-site leaders are very engaged and are working to make operations even better. Caregivers are kind and always helpful. Room sizes are large and house what the residents need. They work to keep residents out of their rooms most times anyhow for safety and to keep them involved with the community. They have an activities coordinator and they work with families to best know what the residents like to do.

Great communication

I think like most places, Juniper is understaffed. The administrators and staff are very nice and caring but the caregivers did not push showers if the resident refused. While I realize they cannot force a resident, they gave up too easily. They would advertise some activities but cancel them at the last minute. I did like the fact that they kept me apprised of any issues, immediately. We had to move my cousin to [community removed] for financial reasons only. Juniper is a very nice facility.

Juniper Village new residents

Our initial sign up was in October but we’ve only been actual residents for two weeks. A few things that made us choose Juniper Village were the two bedroom unit size, closet space, location and value. We’ve had some small maintenance issues but nothing major so far. Residents we’ve met have been friendly and welcoming. Staff are also helpful and friendly. Food and dining experience has been good also. We’re still in the process of moving things from our old home into our new space but our overall first impressions have been favorable.

A GREAT place, but a couple of wrinkles to iron out

Overall, it was a good place. The lack of communication with the Director [name removed] was the biggest problem during our time there. Paying [fee removed] a month should at least entitle the family to be kept in the loop and contacted personally, not in a form letter which didn't even say why the increase in cost and the level of care was necessary. That was VERY disappointing! I talked to her nurses to find out what had changed, but none of them knew why she needed a higher level of care. They then also retroactively raised the cost of her care to charge additional money for the month that had already been paid for! The only other issue we had was one of the female dining room workers scolding us for not seating my mom at her "assigned" table. I was only yelled at one time, but it has happened 2 or 3 times to my sister and her husband. I must say that the Admissions person [name removed], the Head Nurse [name removed] and one of my mom's nurses [name removed]were incredible, extremely kind, extremely caring, extremely compassionate and a pleasure to deal with.

Review for Juniper Village at Williamstown

Like a lot of people is Assisted Living we had to sell my mothers house to finance my mothers stay at Juniper Village even though she has a monthly pension of [amount removed] It's an excellent place for your aging parents that need 24 hour assistance. It's a bit expensive, but your love ones are well taken care of. Also I spend approx [amount removed] a month via Amazon having my mother diapers, bed pads, body wash, nitrile gloves and baby wipes delivered to Juniper Village every month. Overall my mother's health has improved a lot this past year being in Assisted Living although she still continues to have short term memory loss.

Would recommend

Some staff members are better than others. If you happen to get a care giver you don't like for any reason, you should know to ask for leadership to switch the staff person to another caregiver. That worked really well for us as there was a caregiver who my mother in law thought was too rough. We complained and they switched people with no problem. The place is quite nice compared to many other similar facilities: it's really nice that it's in an old stone building that was purpose built as a care facility. The entertainment spaces are lovely. The chapel is unique amongst peer institutions (although [name removed] did not use it).

Care for a high acuity 91 year old

My dad is very frail, needing a lot of hands on care. I was assured Daylesford offered everything he needed, although he was at the high end of the care available there. With only a couple exceptions, staff has been friendly and caring. They got a new director of health and wellness shortly after my dad moved in who was able to resolve some of the initial concerns I had about his care. My dad does not always ask for the help he needs, and they seem to be more geared toward helping with something when asked. This can leave a bit of a gap in meeting his needs. I feel I’ve had to be more involved in making sure he gets some of what should be done (shower frequency, skin care, fall safety) than I expected. Some of the things I used to keep him mobile and safe are not allowed because of rules and guidelines all facilities have to comply with. He has declined a lot in the 3 months he has been there. The facility is beautiful and there are a lot of activities offered.

Good baseline facility. Offers 24 hour nursing response. in one case, our family member senior, we staying for a short time, was left unattended, even though he called for help in the room in the evening, raising a question of consistent response. Food is Acceptable but not upscale, featuring a half shot glass at cocktail hours, and typically white bread open face turkey sandwich, or sloppy Sam's.

Review for Juniper Village at Paramus

I would tell anyone interested in finding an assisted living for a loved one that Juniper Village, although not the newest, largest, or most modern facility out there, the staff engagement with the residents is the best I've seen. Every time I am there, there is something going on and the living room is usually filled with residents doing something. We chose Juniper Village because my Mother is a social person who needs to be with people. She is always busy, sometimes not having time for me when I visit. This turned out to be a great fit.

A nice memory care community!

The personal attention from the aids and nurses to my loved one and based on the experience we have had so far, we would recommend Juniper Village to other families

Juniper Village at Lebanon review

Juniper Village at Lebanon is a nice place and my father in law seems to like it there. It is a very good place for the cost and I would recommend this community to other families who may need a place for their loved ones.
