Avamere

Beautiful facility. Love the dining room. Prices for the room are reasonable. I liked the Director and the nurse. Would like to know how long the nurse has been with Sandia Springs and what happens if and when she leaves. Very hard for me or my daughter to get to in a hurry. Very far for my daughter to visit her.

They need to improve their level of communication with both their clients and the clients guardians. Initial impression would be a five out a five, the rooms are great, they would also be a five out of five. We were able eat with our loved one before COVID and the food was great, there was a lot of choices and variety. Hwoever, during COVID they had to eat in their rooms so the quality and variety has dropped tremendously.

They need more aides and long term resident more activities for memory , excersis and things to do for not to get board. Update paint , re do resident room bathrooms. Staff less talkie talkie unless it is resident related to next shift. Phone needs to work for the whole building portable only works in halway usually. Answer call light in a timely manner, rotate breaks dont talk all at once be more viable on floor pass meals out so they are still hot

I toured here when looking for a community for my parents. I really liked the marketing person, she was very helpful, but the facility was a little older and needed to be updated. I thought maybe there was a little bit of confusion in getting around the place because of multiple elevators. But it has some beautiful grounds that I think are very nice. They don’t offer memory care under the same roof, but it is across the road. So if one of my parents had to move, they would have to move across the street and that wasn’t ideal.

We toured this community for care. The staff did not impress us. This community did not have the environment that we wanted. The community seemed to be nice but needed some small improvements. They had activities for the residents who may have wanted to participate. We would suggest that families tour this community for the care of a loved one.

This community is nice, however it is isolated. It is surrounded by trees and overlooks the town. This is a new community and the staff were nice. They are near a hospital. I looked at a nice two bedroom apartment with a large porch.

I really hope that it could be possible that they made a specific area for smoking. At any entrance family and loved ones always have to pass by so much smoke and it's making my loved one sick. At the beginning of my loved ones stay no one greeted us or even gave us a welcome packet that explained rules, meal times, and other information we would have like to have received. The carpets are stained and need a good cleaning and in some floors like the 3rd floor by the elevator it always smell like urine. The staff is friendly and the meals are good that is the positive side to the community.

Brookdale South Hill offers activities at the community however my parents have not participated in them. The experience with the nursing staff has been a bit iffy since my parents are fairly independent and do not require some of the services offered. I quickly found out that the staff are quick to add charges but not quick to remove the charge when services aren't rendered such as medication management. We actually have a pill machine for my mother but on occasion she may need pain meds. This is not something that is consistent yet they have charged for the services even when not being utilized. My parents like the food even though they do not offer diverse options in my opinion. I would recommend the place but also suggest to stay involved in the care portion just to make sure things are in order.

Still unhappy with original placement, in Aspen Ridge Retirement community, Staffing level and competence level not able to care for and handle a moderate to severe Dementia patient. Now have her in Memory Care, and she is adjusting.

I would tell others about this place. And my over all rating of it right now would be a 4. And it has friendly services.

She was there for 2 days. It was really clean. They knew where she was at all times, she would go out the room. The staff was in the hallway and wasn't like a hospital, it gave you more of a home feeling. The only complaint is that it is expensive.

This was less of an assisted living and more of a skilled nursing facility. It was okay but I thought it would not be good for my mother. I don’t think she would do well in a skilled nursing facility, just in general. It would be a deterrent to her health. There was nothing wrong with Avamere but I didn’t think it would be a good fit.

I think it was fine. You know, it's not as nice of a building fur they do a good job there. My mom was there and it's a good place for rehab.

If you're special diet like gluten-free and egg free It sucks And They don't always tell everybody the rules So you tend to get in trouble They knew I was coming into a hospice facility yesterday They called my niece at 11:30 last night wondering where I was at and I left at 6:00 So what took him that long to realize then I had checked out The gal at the desk even gave me paperwork to give to them over here And so on and so forth. The food is great if you can eat it. Teh activities director is really great. Activities are fantastic. A lot of the help is fantastic, it is just the administrative part that needs to be adjusted and the med techs. They kept trying to give me medicine that was not prescribed for me and they kept compensating my medicine when it came and I had to get the hospice nurse after him she said I will make her pills and she is capable of taking herself and they didn't even give me the dosing on the ones that I was taking they're only giving me one instead of two on one of the meds.

the real experience is not the advertised reality. The chef changed and the food is not as good. The staff is not totally crisp with arriving with the help they agreed to. In a minor way. All in all it is MUCH better than the previous facility (not to be named). The facility itself is pleasant enough. The activities are real. My friend seems happy overall with just the above mentioned. I would recommend it.

I think the best way to say it is my dad required more assistance than they were able to provide. The staff guaranteed us that they could do all of the care but it wasn't fulfilled. He went on hospice the 1st day there so that he would have more care. He probably should have gone to a higher level of care facility.

The caregivers were all amazing people, and my Dad loved each one of them!! So did we....Based on the experience we have recommended Avamere at Cascadia to others and have already recommended them!

I did a lot of research prior to deciding on Avamere. The sales person is a very nice person, and was easy to work with prior to our deciding to go with Avamere. She was attentive and caring. Once we moved my father in law in that all changed. While he was originally in independent living, it quickly became apparent he was actually quite sick. Therefore he needed care which Avamere handled with little empathy. In fact on several occasions he and several members of his family would call front desk only to get voicemail. This would go on for at least 20 minutes! It was beyond anything I’ve ever experienced. I would call the sales directors cell and email her and she would not return my call. I do suspect they have to iron out some kinks as they take on more residents and eventually it can be a good place for ones loved one. However we didn’t have a good experience. My advice woukd be to look elsewhere if you need the assisted living services.

I am responding regarding my sisters care. She was in assisted living for 8 months. She declined and required more assistance. After 6 months she became unable to self medicate. Her daughter provided additional care daily but after 7 months it seemed she needed hospice care. We applied for hospice through the nursing director at Ovation and were told she did not qualify. We transferred her to another facility close by and she was immediately eligible for hospice. She died after 30 days in the new facility. Hospice was wonderful . I cant understand why she was not approved for hospice at Ovation. I am very disappointed at the way the nursing director handled her care in that regard. It was hard enough to lose my sister and be forced to move her for the last 30 days of her life. It is my impression that independent living is wonderful at Ovation. However I remain concerned about assisted living care there.

They are easy to work with and several go the extra mile for you. They could improve by frequently distributing an updated contact name and number list for who to contact for what.
