Escalante at the Lakes has a very friendly staff, however staff turnover affects the consistency of care. Overall it was a nice environment for my mother.

I did not find this community to be as nice as the other community that I was looking at. The tour was good but it was just not what we were looking for for our loved one.

Our family had an in person tour and the community honestly just seemed a little to dreary and not as bright and airy.

Their management is decent but caregiver were terrible. They put her hearing aids in upside down several time, they skinned legs several getting her in and out of wheelchair because they wouldn't take the feet off the wheelchair. They bruised her arm up several times when lifting her out of the wheelchair. At night, the caregiver dropped her because he wasn't holding on to her, so I move her out. It they trained their caregivers properly, my mother would have still been there.

Very nice tour. It is in need of updates around the inside and outside.

Extremely over priced. Staff just tells you what they assume you want to hear. Only a few employees actually follow through with what they tell you will be done.

Not quite what I was looking for.

I toured at The Wentworth while looking for a new place for my loved one. I thought that the community was comfortable, but that it lacked a certain feeling of cleanliness that I was looking for, and the set up of the facility just did not seem to flow to me. I just didn't feel that it would be the best fit for us.

I toured this community with my mom and it just wasn’t for her. There was nothing wrong with it the rooms were set up nicely and it was clean. The staff answered all my questions. But mom said it felt like a hospital she is still active and the people there were just sitting around in wheelchairs and she didn’t feel like it was the right fit and so we chose a different community.

They’re a great place unless you’re elderly person has any specific health. We are no longer at this community. I love the new community that my mom is at. The staff was friendly though and it was clean a good value.

too crowded

My wife passed away in July. We were in the process of moving to Atria Seville because of more space and better facility. I continues the move and am very happy here. The Wentworth seems to have some problems in keeping the facility looking nice, food quality and service, and maintaining adequate staff who are well trained and available when needed.

The facility was older and it showed, but it was also the cheapest. Room size was sufficient. Most of staff seemed okay but they were getting a new manager (one i spoke with was getting promotion to regional position. Also they didn't have any activities director for a few weeks. Good seemed pretty good but there was some issues with either staff or other residents, as my mom was reticent to go down to dining room, and ended up losing weight. She had a couple falls and had to be "found" because she didn't remember to push her button, anfmd after that they basically started pushing her in wheelchair everywhere, instead of helping her walk to diner with her walker. Was concerned that she would lose what limited mobility she had if she wasn't walking anywhere. The deal that was offered was 500 off per month for length of stay, or 2500 off for 3 months. I was considering a nicer place as well as this one as price was pretty similar, and the director (Gus) offered both, so mom said she likes this place and we went with this one. However, there was issue with payments and billing so that the 2500 wasn't taken off starting on move in date (1-17-26) and was taken off starting 1st of following month. Did t make a big deal of it at the time because it would all work out at time went on, but with the weight lose and falls, not walking etc I needed to move her to group home with more direct supervision, so ended up getting screwed off some of the discount. Plus the company was bought by new company and newspaper said id have to discuss that concern with their finance dept, which I never even tried. When moving out the new place was a bedroom in a house, so even smaller and not all of her stuff would fit, so I offered the electric recliner to anyone who may want it at Escalante I had the 39 day notice so was taking my time to clear her stuff out. Also, her room keys had turned up missing (and never were found after going through all her stuff) so id been leaving here room unlocked (which it had pretty much been unlocked while she was there too). One day I went to move some more items, but had al.ost finished. The recliner was gone ( no problem) but also a little side table ( didn't really care), a new stainless steal footprint trash can ( i would have given that to mom's new place as there's was broken) , but also several of mom's lead crystal glassware, which she'd had for decades, and I wanted to keep for her granddaughter. Apparently staff were just coming in to see what else was left (to see if they wanted anything) Spoke to the maintenance man who said he's find out, as well as director, who said that the maintenance guy would take care of it. Never heard back from anyone and never got glassware back. Most staff probably do, but some obviously dont really care. I would recommend NOT going there if they can afford anything else.

Areas they could improve on - Communications between staff and management and staff and families

If they had listened to her they would’ve known she was in pain and maybe they wouldn’t have forced her to do things she shouldn’t do with a broken back or even just have her her pain medication when she asked for it. I know for a fact they didn’t listen to her because I had cameras in her room. I won’t say it’s their fault she’s gone because she was almost 104, her days were already numbered, but I do blame them for the amount of pain she was in when she passed. I wish I could say better things but after they changed management the only consistently good employee was [name removed]. She always went beyond her job description to make the residents happy.

I toured this community. The normal tour guide wasn't there, so I worked with the Party Director. She was nice, but it was a different experience. They were undergoing new ownership and had lost some staff.

I would tell others to choose a different place. It did not go well. We had our loved one registered for a two week respite stay, and we pulled him out after 8 days. They were friendly to me, but doing their job as far as my loved one was concerned, they pretty much forgot about hm. Only when we showed up were they nice and attentive.

In the beginning, things were good. I'm not happy any more with my mothers care, room and bedding situation. Bed protector has not been put back on. No mattress pad either. Things were different under the old director. The doctor there is wonderful. He stabilized my mom's condition. She suffers from dementia with delusions and manic behavior. That has been corrected and she seems content and we are pleased with her progress. There were issues where I knew my mom had not been showered and the bedding also had an odor. So, I am looking into removing her from Wentworth, Las Vegas. I live in New Jersey and have been back and forth many times throughout the year. Like I stated, it was much better under the old director.

It seems to me that my loved one is often misunderstood and ignored when she can't be understood. For many staff members, English is not their first language and it shows. I constantly hear employees speaking Spanish to each other. I don't understand how you can properly care for someone if you cannot communicate with them. I have spoken to management about this, but nothing changes. I have nothing against the language or culture, but it just seems insane to hire people who don't understand me when I talk to them and it makes me wonder how they can talk to and understand the residents that live there. It seems like the building is always working short staffed. It is expensive for nursing care where ever you go, but it isn't fair to my loved one to miss out on care because there aren't enough workers. We will be moving our family member out soon because we want her to have better care.

They were good at the beginning, but they weren't able to handle her needs. The majority of the staff was wonderful. One of the employees told someone who came to help my loved one, that they didn't like her, because she was too difficult. That was so unprofessional. They don't like when we visit too frequently. I have witnessed them telling families that they can't have a camera in the rooms. I think they like when people drop their loved one off and never return or only come once a month. That's how they make us feel. Our loved one doesn't want to push the call button. They had good activities, it wasn't all bad. They were clean.
