They do a pretty good job. It does smell like urine though, as you are walking to his room. They work really hard to have him active in the activities.

I was rushed to help my mom find a place, which was difficult because I live on the east coast. We toured four facilities in one day and found this to be the best fit. The staff was very accommodating and the facility has all levels of care available in case my mother needs additional services later. The food was really good and they'll make a snack for her in the middle of the night if she is up. Everything was very clean and organized. Several women were waiting to meet my mom when she arrived which was very welcoming.

My mother has only been in Hawthorne Gardens for two weeks so this review is based on a very short experience, please bear this in mind. I like the fact that HG is not a huge facility, it feels very intimate and my mother feels comfortable. I have found staff, admin and service, very friendly and accommodating of any requests or issues that have come up- issues are minimal I might add. There are multiple activities and my mom has participated in many each day. Food is adequate, not outstanding but typical for a facility such as this. The facility is clean, and the outdoor amenities are very inviting. My mom and our family hope to take part in some of the events they have in warmer weather. There is transportation to appointments included in monthly cost and of particular help to my mom HG has a contract with a computer trouble shooting company who got her Internet issue resolved. The neighborhood setting is lovely too with children and families all around giving HG the feel of a group of people sharing a neighborhood home.

Of course is was way overpriced but it's hard to establish value because it's an arbitrary number. I would say it's fair based on market analysis. I have recommended it to 3 other people so that says it all. It was about location, location, location for me. It's got a very old world feel and I like that but some people don't. And because it's older their room sizes are smaller so if you needed more room this might not be the right place. The key consideration outside of location was the flexibility to the changing care needs. I wanted to minimize the amount of moving around.

It is very expensive and the cottages are very small. It is next to a large highway, and not entirely walkable for seniors looking to do something else, like be able to walk to small shops or restaurants. Not the most ideal, independent living set up for those without cars. But the staff is very nice and accommodating.

I didn't give them highest marks in some categories, but overall I feel this has been a good experience. We've had few minor problems, but I give them a E for effort. The most significant event was when an outgoing employee informed us that [name removed] was being asked to leave. This was on a Friday and we spent the weekend trying to find a a male only situation for him. On Monday we called back and found the head nurse we spoke to no longer worked there and [name removed] was perfectly welcome.

The facility was fine. Clean and well maintained. The issues we had were due to it being too modern for a person Mom's age, 96. No landline phone or cable tv. Cell phones and streaming to get the channels she used to watch. Very difficult to teach someone that age to stream. I have friends my age that have trouble‚ it really was frustrating for her. Her after surgery, life was hard on her. The activities were okay. Not as many as the facility she came from, but that was independent living. The residents at Holi don't seem to be as interested in activities. The housekeeping was good. The lady we always saw clean Mom's room was wonderful. A very nice and helpful lady who always kept mom's room clean. The people who helped Mom with her daily living were also very kind. Always cheerful and Mom liked the vast majority of them. The move in went smoothly with no problems. The food was probably better than we heard about, but not what I would say is a strong point. The daily specials were often something that older adults would probably not choose if they had a choice. Their secondary menu selection was very poor. I personally would not have been happy with most of the food and meals myself. Where Mom came from, and where we moved her to, had menus that are far superior. All that being said, we are thankful that Holi stepped up and sped the process along when she was discharged from rehab. That's another story. I'll never forgive the insurance company involved. As far as recommending them, my Mom's situation was unique. Finding a place for her with her medical need was tough. A person with an Ostomy issue has a big obstacle in finding a place. Other than that, she was active and really missed her old life doing things. From my perspective, a lot of the residents that we saw were closer to nursing home than assisted living. We would tell people that. We wouldn't just badmouth them.

I would tell a friend that I was relieved to have my mother somewhere that I trusted she was being cared for. She was grateful to be there. I picked it over others because I would never have to move her again ( regular care, memory care and hospice care).

I toured The Lodge at Mallard's Landing during my search for an Assisted Living facility for my loved one. The tour was fine, but I felt that I could have had a bit more time. I loved the atmosphere there, but when I considered it for my dad, I found it to be too large and spread out and thought this could be overwhelming for him. There are lots of stairs (and elevators). It was very comfortable seeming, like a lodge. They have been voted Best Food in an Assisted Living, but I didn't have a meal.

Retrieving medication at the end of my loved one's stay required few returns before we had her correct medication. I also question if she received her daily medication since her acetaminophen was not opened and her Memantine appeared to be at the same level when I dropped her off.Otherwise, I am pleased with the service she (and I) received.

My experience was satisfactory and I have no complaints. I rate all a "4". The Memory Care was understaffed staff and yet were attentive and responsive to patient needs. Basically, Mirror Lake met our needs for our family member for the short six weeks he was in their care along with Evergreen Hospice Care.
