This had been a fun place to live prior to lockdown due to the Coronavirus on [date removed]. This has been a very long 6 months. I do understand it is for our safety, however, I live in an independent facility and the rules are the same for personal care and independent living. I feel in independent living we are capable of following safety guidelines. We were allowed to go out in public. Our activities, which I enjoyed, have had to be adjusted and some eliminated. Could the rules for independent living be relaxed and allow us to leave the complex, without having to come back and be in isolation in our apartments for 7 days? I miss getting to see my grand and great-grandchildren. Had to miss the birthday parties, etc please take a look at this. This isolation from family is very hard and particularly since I am almost 83 and realize I may not have many more months to enjoy my family. Thanks for your consideration.

Before we came to Phoenix community, we were told that there would be an RN and LPN stationed at the community during the day and evenings, but that was not always true. We don't thin they have enough medical staff, or med-techs on duty. Especially on the weekends, it was always a disaster. For the CNA's it seemed like they did not have enough training. The food is not five stars like they said it was going to be, the food is about average. Our loved one has a studio which is one big room. It would be nicer if the rooms had a built in area to put a microwave and a refrigerator. The closets are pretty adequate.

While my loved one was living at this community, the staff never cleaned their room. Some of the staff was friendly and others were not. It was a more expensive, and the food was horrible. The residents could only choose between two options which were not appetizing at all. The management was pretty bad. Our loved one was in memory care, which they did have some activities. We did get a chance to talk to the other residents at this community and they were not happy as well.

When the staff was good they were good, and when they were bad they were bad. It is a very expensive community. Some activities they did have were ice cream socials, arts and crafts and bingo. The rooms are spacious, it is set up well. It is a beautiful facility, very appealing to the eye when you entered. However the management could be improved.

The Retreat community is very clean, it is Independent living so there aren't any care services to be provided, and not much supervision. If you needed care you had to hire outside services. One of the biggest issues we had with this community is there is a very long walk way between the main building and the building with the dining hall that is covered but not enclosed. So when it would rain or snow, the residents had to walk through that to get to the dining hall which we did not like. In the beginning they told us they were working on fully closing in the walk way but that has not been done yet. The food here need more of a broader menu, they needed to pay more attention to dietary restrictions and requests. It was a bit unorganized. We didn't really get a chance to see the rooms, my mother says they were nice. The overall layout was nice, but we do not recommend this community.

My parent was at this facility during the Covid/19 lockdown and died two months into the lockdown. The nurse, management, room cleaning and food are atrocious. If your loved one likes cold tasteless food, this is the place for them. Otherwise, I’d look somewhere else. While it costs less here, you'll see the disrepair, old paint, decor, flooring, furniture, exterior building, etc are very dated and in bad bad shape. While a majority of the staff is fantastic, others view their time there as job and it shows. Knowing what my mother had to endure there, I would NEVER leave my family member in this facility.

My mother was in the memory care unit of Sunrise at Ivey Ridge for two years. While the general staff that cared for her on a daily basis was caring and tended her needs extremely well, I can not say the same thing for the management staff. During those two years, there were at least four Reminance directors. Rarely did I hear from them and it was not easy to make contact. After my mother's passing this week, I had to place at least two phone calls to find out what I needed to do to donate my mother's belongings. I never received an initial call from anyone when she died. In my opinion, if you are in the business of taking care of the aging, a call to the family to make contact when they pass should be included on a very basic checklist for management.

I was not impressed with my tour of this facility. The appearance of the community needs improvement. The atmosphere was depressing. The building is older, but they are making some improvements to the community. However at the moment I did not feel this was the community for us.

When I took a tour I liked what I saw here. It is a newer facility and they have updated extras like an automatic door opener by pushing a button. I was walked through the community and they showed me an apartment. The tour guide was knowledgeable and gave me accurate information about the community.

Their response time when a patient pushes the button needs to be improved. Sometimes my mother can be waiting a half hour or so for someone to come and check on her. They say that they encourage her to get involved in activities, but I do not see it. There is definitely some room for improvement.

Our experience with Southern Plantation has not been a good one, unfortunately. We chose this place based mostly on the price and what we could afford, and not we are paying for it. While the staff are friendly for the most part, the care and communication has been incredibly inconsistent. We're constantly hearing different things about what level of care our loved one needs, what services are being provided for her, etc. It has just been a real pain all around.

My dad stayed here for a year and we were so fortunate to be able to move him out and into my home (once we did all the handicapped renovations). While the staff was friendly, there seems to be no oversight to ensure the proper care for the residents. The staff to resident ratio is crazy (1 to 12 or worse) and the residents pay the price for this by suffering needlessly is wet clothing, sitting in their wheelchairs or in a sofa for hours on end, maybe watching TV or facing a wall. The activities lady does her best to keep everyone occupied and entertained but often finds herself helping the caregivers with the resident's needs. My family had to help with my dad to keep him from sitting in soiled pants for too long, or to take him to the bathroom or to bed, instead of waiting for a caregiver to have time for him. We complained to the state authorities (using info from signs hanging in the facility) but there was no resolution. There just doesn't seem to be enough oversight to ensure that these facilities are run appropriately for the care of our loved ones, particular when you consider the monthly payment for these "services." It's been two years since we moved my dad out and he is doing so much better now! He is happy and healthy and in the best possible condition considering his medical circumstances. I often roamed the facility, either looking for a caregiver or looking for a supply and saw how dirty the place is, the cleaning lady was just overwhelmed with the amount of work that needed to be done to get the place back in shape. The washers and dryers were old and rickety, with clothes getting mixed up or lost. We just did my dad's laundry ourselves and carried them back and forth between the facility and our home. Bottom line, this place is horribly understaffed and the personnel need training and oversight. My dad had bruises and scrapes and scabs when he lived here, he hasn't had any of those things since we moved him back home. We saw countless other residents being [removed] or handled roughly and spent as much time there as possible to make sure my dad wasn't handled the same way. I just want to make sure that others know what they're getting into before sending your loved one here; it's not as nice and safe as they make it seem. Oh and the pictures on the web site are old and not reflective of the current state of the facility. The new director, while probably nice, seems to cut and paste her responses on the various websites when someone posts a bad review. It's not personal but, I just want people to know the facts before moving their loved one in!!!

Good marketing presentation for Retreat at Conyers by [name removed] was impressive. The facility grounds were scenic and the resident rooms were nice and spacious. The safety procedures during the current covid-19 were good and no known cases from staff or residents were reported. The aforementioned things could be rated at 3.5 Stars. The items listed below are rated at 1.5 stars here's why: a monthly care plan, which goes to the progress/issues a resident is having was never given until [date removed], our Mom became a resident in [date removed]. Transportation to medical appointments on scheduled days was provided. She was late for every appointment we rescheduled for her. Activities on-site and off-site as part of the package and prior to the pandemic [dates removed], we were not aware that any outside ventures took place. Wi-Fi - our resident (mom) has a computer and Alexa that she enjoyed prior to the pandemic and she never received the password info. Wi-Fi was something we were told, they were working on it. The staff, we were told, was caring and professional and that the Retreat at Conyers had a low turnover rate; their staff would get to know our mom and be attentive to her needs. We witnessed just the opposite. Seems that there was always someone new, they were unprofessional. When you made phone calls to the front desk to tell them about appointments or you were dropping off an item for your loved one, etc. you were never sure this information was relayed to the appropriate person; front desk staff would forget to give messages or leave a message which resulted in missed appointments or having to reschedule. The phone at the nurse's station in the Renaissance Building had not been in working order for over three months, you can never call even if you had a question. I truly consider Retreat at Conyers the bait-and-switch operation.

My mother was scheduled to have respite for 2 weeks while my husband and I went on a trip. This was close to my son's home, so they could visit her while we were gone. We got there on the date that was preset months before and the room was not ready. There was no bed, no linens, no TV. They rushed around setting up a bed. The dresser was obviously someone's used garage sale dresser with a stained top. They put in a TV, but never hooked it to cable, so she did not have TV for 2 weeks. My daughter in law told me on one of our facetime calls that she gave Mom a shower. It seems no one had given her a shower since her arrival. The room had no chair, just a bed. There was a lamp on a table. Nothing was decorated as the room I saw as a respite room when I evaluated the facility. My son described it as a prison cell with bare walls. He brought pictures from home to hang on the bare walls to make it feel more like a place to live and not a prison. I called the director when I found out Mom was not getting a bath. She said Mom would say she would wash up when they asked. I put her here for them to take care of her in my absence. Who would let a shower go for 2 weeks??? Thankfully, my daughter in law kept Mom clean.

Disappointing experience. Food is really poor to the point it makes my mother ill. Laundry and room cleaning are inconsistent. I have had to clean it myself and take her laundry to be cleaned. She has pushed her call button for assistance and it can take hours for them to respond. On top of that they raised her rates 9% in less than one year and acted like they were doing me a favor. My mother has lived there less than a year and I believe we are on the fourth director. It’s a revolving door of staff. We are looking to leave (as are others). Would not recommend.

I had to take my loved one from out of this place. Don't get me wrong, I thought this place was GORGEOUS when first toured from the outside building. Once in, the residents were quiet and appeared miserable. The Tour guide lady even brisk walked me through the place so fast, I couldn't even describe what was really there if I wanted to. They staff and its entirety act as if they are hiding something. An extremely high volume of miscommunication and unprofessionalism, is all that I was met with while their with my loved one. I have a better chance with keeping them home and paying a pre school, baby sitter to take care of them prior to what this facility offers with negativity.
