This facility is poorly staff, unsafe and the director doesn't treat the residents with dignity and respect . My uncle was left on the bathroom floor for several hours after he slipped and fell . Sad

Do not send your loved one a JEA facility! Care plans are not followed, management teams have NO integrity, and we have found them to be big BULLIES! We just got my dad home from a facility in Clinton, UT and it has been nothing short of a nightmare after having to shower him every time we went to see him, a trip to the ER and being advised by the ER to take him home for 4 days while starting the new lasix medication, and finally after a month of sores on his backside because they wouldn't take him to the bathroom or clean him properly after they made him mess himself, we've brought him home again to heal his behind. How dare, they or anyone else, think they can treat our elderly this way - taking advantage of the vulnerable situation caretakers find themselves in or a loved one. The sores will heal but the stress and exhaustion may never. We tried to follow their requests to email (week 1) them about concerns immediately and to give them 48 hours...however, nothing started to change until the start of week 5 - most things, sadly, did not. Good sales pitch but they didn't deliver! We were rushed from the minute we arrived to tour the joint, sign the paper work, give them the check, and kiss dad goodbye...less than 2 hours - such a scam!

Our past journey with Barrington Facilities and JEA has been so undesirable it is difficult to waste anymore of my time and thoughts towards their facility. However, I believe that I owe it to my loved one and others to share the depravity of Barrington’s Place services. Though their facility tours well, that is about the extent of the niceties. In an attempt not to attack, but to review the facilities, I used a typical star format; one star being the lowest possible rating five being the highest. **** Cleanliness * Courtesy of the staff - I found the administration to be combative and accusatory. * Food –When the residents can no longer eat solid food, instead of providing soft foods such as soups, Jello and mashed potatoes, they serve pureed Salmon. Could you imagine eating this even if you liked fish? Disgusting. * Communication – no follow up to repeated requests, very limited dialogue. * Medical support – there is none, they are not a nursing center. Very conflicting information in this area, they tell you about the support when you first are entering the facilities, then afterwards, they claim they are not required by law to provide certain services because they are not a medical provider. * Safety of residents, non-existent, our loved one had several unwitnessed physical events which led to medical treatment. Overall it seems that everything that is associated with this horrible disease, they feel is a problem with the resident and have no support measure other than to medicate your loved one. We finally received dignified professional care when hospice step in; thank you to the Hospice Team! It is unfortunate that our state does not do a better job of regulating these types of facilities, it is a huge disservice to our elderly.

My husband was at this facility for less than a month. I have many concerns related to the treatment and quality of care this facility provided my husband. I am currently voicing my concerns to State and Federal Agencies.

Do not send your loved one a JEA facility! Care plans are not followed, management teams have NO integrity, and we have found them to be big BULLIES! The only positive was the handful of CNA's, not all - but most, who seemed kind and willing to care for the residents as far as they were allowed to by the nursing staff. And to top it off, the next day they called and said we could not bring him back! This place is just like all the rest in Utah and Wyoming. They all have the same sales pitch and this lady, Cynthia, had the audacity to say to me “I promise, we’re not just blowing smoke!”. Well, after 2 weeks we have been lied to more times than we can count about the care and well being of my dad. After one week of being told he had been showered daily, we arrived to find that his toiletries hadn’t been touched- soap still in the wrapper and everything- even after being told that he’d taken his gold bar of Dial soap and washed - there was no gold bar of soap anywhere to be found in the bathroom not one of theirs and the one we brought was locked in a drawer in his closet untouched. Each time we’ve come he’s been sitting in his mess- so much that after the first week...his feces had dried on his bottom creating huge, painful red sores. When asked about his aggression, we were told daily that he was doing “so good” and “perfect” only when we spoke with a CNA after about a week...she said that he was mean and hitting & slapping them and that is why they had him on a different bedtime routine. Today, when we arrived one employee told me (because I asked where his pillow was) that when she got here at 6 am she found him with “stuff” everywhere-“wiping it on the windows and everywhere because he had a very large BM in the night”. Yet Cynthia the nurse told my mom she found him at 8 am when she got here. Inconsistent stories every time you ask - They say they check on him every two hours yet, we have yet to hear of one instance of him actually making it to the bathroom aside from initial arrival and the times we’ve come to visit and we have taken him into the restroom. He is constantly hungry and today he has repeated over and over again that “they beat me up”!

I'm the power of attorney for my grandmother & I just received 30 days notice that the memory care unit will be closing "for renovations". A senior living facility giving 30 days notice to people with dementia and Alzheimer's?! Renovations would be something I would expect to be a well thought out plan with plenty of notice to families. This is NOT OK and the corporate heads of Ridgeline Management Co. should be ashamed

My grandmother has lived in all 3 levels of care at Avalon for the last 15 years. Most of her experience there was great. The memory care unit has been going downhill for the past year or so. Although not always cleanly and in dire need of an update, the people who worked directly with my grandma in the memory care unit were extremely willing to go the extra mile for her. Within the past week they have fired most of the staff to the point of a new person being trained by someone who had already worked more days than scheduled and they were struggling to keep up with the after dinner needs of residents. My grandmother and the other residents in the memory care unit are vulnerable, they worked hard for most of their lives and deserve to live out their lives without chaos & disregard for their health and safety. Today I received a 30 day notice that the memory care units would be closing for renovations. 30 days notice is what the law requires but I would have thought there would be more notice if they were really closing for renovations... Disgusting that the corporate heads are going homes which they know will be there after 30 days from now
