Toured facility this morning. Impressed with facility cleanliness, staff, and resident activity.

The facility was clean and the director was very nice to work with. The apartments had a nice layoutwith nice views. We really loved the layout as well. Very nicely decorated to our taste. Received an invite to come back for lunch to experience part of what their day would be like. At this facility I actually saw nursing staff moving about which we had not seen at St Therese or Rose Arbor. Could just be timing. Both mom and dad loved it. Location is the best. Cost up to this point is the most expensive.

We are in the learning curve stage. They have had some turnover in staff and having a hard time hiring which I understand. The staff I have met have been very friendly and helpful. They do seem like they have a lot of activities available for residents to participate in. The only complaint I have is they have no parking lot for visitors. I would recommend them to others looking.

Mom did not have a very good respite stay at this community. They did not let her out of her wheelchair during the day. She did not like the food and they did not offer a large selection of choices. The caregivers were nice. They did charge for each individual service she required. This was not what we thought it would be.

The staff in the memory care unit is nice. My only concern is there seems to be a lack of communication with the staff. It is hard to reach the person you need to speak to. My loved ones apartment is nice. The memory care is a locked ward. I would rate the assisted living area a four. They have a beautiful chapel. They allow pets and have birds in the community. There is a wonderful hair dresser and the rooms have a nice view.

I toured this community for care. I did not want a community that had stairs. The do have activities for the residents . We wanted a differt level of care.I liked the staff and they informed me on the care that is given to the residents. I would suggest that families tour this community

The staff is very nice, but some are hard to understand, as their English isn't so clear. They have activities during the day most are upstairs. It would be nice if they had some activities in the evening as it is too quiet and lonely. The food is ok, not great with lots of sandwiches and noodles. Not a lot of meat and potatoes. 3 meals a day, with the exception of Sunday which consists of Brunch at 9:30 pie at 1:30-2:00 then diner at 5:00. So no lunch on Sunday. There are no special diets and not a lot of attention to cholesterol in the menus. We have had a mix-up with medication, but seem to be on the right track now. The building and grounds are very nice and in a nice location.

I not feeling well, problems with medications. Two days after moving In I receive notice my rent just went up. I start to hear rumors. It true. We are not a duel independent/assisted but only assisted living. What does that mean?? I am comfortable here, could have a up to date kitchen. They did make it more handicap accessible but still shows it age. No dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave and stove like my grandmother had. They did put in a used disposal that has broken down twice. I like it for nice bedroom and living room. I am just about All moved in. A few more pictures to hang. Am I going to stay or will I move on. I have sold my car in order save money so I really have no way to look at more. What I have seen, I think I could like it people are very nice and I love the smaller building ,less people to get to know. I spent about 12 hours reading new lease and have a lot of question.

Our family had an in person tour and it seemed like a really nice place but just did not have a lot of activity going on, it seemed like more of a quieter facility

This was a nice community with friendly staff. I would be careful with the nursing care and to make sure they are following up with the doctor's orders for the residents. The food was okay for my loved one during the stay.

We had a video tour, and the facility just looked old and dreary and depressing. It wasn’t even a consideration for us. As she was taking us through the hallways, I could almost smell the stale air - it had that type of appearance. I wouldn’t even want to go in to take a look. The apartments looked dark and dreary, with not enough natural light. The person who led the tour was very friendly, kind, and sweet though.

On the plus side, the facility and grounds are beautifully maintained and immaculately clean. Most of the support staff are experienced and extremely helpful. Residents are cordial. It's affordable. But much is lacking. The director is pleasant, but appears to be inexperienced and uninformed. The head nurse is argumentative and dismissive. The food is 1950s rural Midwest cuisine--heavy on carbs, fat, sugar; lots of fruit cocktail, gravy, jello, and mayo. Activities are basic: Bingo, coloring, crafts, chapel, hymn singing, minimal exercise, and bus trips to local discount stores. The library is disorganized. Weekly films are old and weren't good even when new. Nothing for the life of the mind. Inquiries about change and/or additions are politely rebuffed. With constructive senior staffing changes, the Villa has significant potential. Currently, it is disappointing.

Visited. In the homes the windows are set really high. Without standing, all that I could see is the sky. I need more of a view than that.

This looked like a nice clean community when we visited. The person that took us on tour was nice. This community did seem to have less active residents than what we were looking for. I would say this might be a community to look into for an older resident.

If you are finding yourself in a situation of placing a loved one in a nursing home, please let me recommend Augustana Health Care Center. Many of the workers care for residents beyond it just being a job, and they care about the families. IF there are issues, regardless of how small, it is immediately addressed. The CNA's and the nurses are outstanding. I can't even begin to name all of them who were so caring. We witnessed a nurse and a couple of CNA's who were lacking in really caring about the residents. Those people did not last here, the staff at Augustana really have the ability to hire the best for the residents. Then came the time the Lord decided it was time for Mom to join Him and her husband, in Heaven. During the few days prior to her passing, we (family) were constantly at Mom's side. What we observed during that time left us in awe. The love and compassion shown to Mom and our family was beyond reproach! Janet in Activities even came and sang hymns to Mom, which seemed to relax her. The on site Pastor, (Pastor Gordon), was there with us often. Love and compassion flows from the Lord to all around Pastor Gordon. Again, I cannot recommend Augustana Health Care Center highly enough! Just walk in there - you will see people working, where their job is MUCH more than a job. It is a ministry!! Thank you Augustana for loving our mother / grandmother and caring for her so thoroughly for us. Knowing all of you has changed me personally for the better.

The community at Elim Shores offered a nice tour. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to address all of my concerns. It is a smaller community and they did not offer as many amenities as others I visited in the area.

Unprepared for us and I was not impressed. After talking to Marcus, i will go back and try again as this is not normal for this place. Most people love it. Will try again.

The staff is really great! I would give them a five plus. This has been a challenging transition for them. They rave about the maintenance and housekeeping. There's always things made available and things going on and the activities director makes an effort to get them to join in. The intamacy of Elim Shores is helpful. When I visit whether I am coming or going, I see the residents smiling and there is always somebody on duty and always things going on. We are very pleased.

Cornerstone has some things that I didn't like, not that the facility wasn't fine. If my mother goes on medical assistance or elderly waver they would put her in a room with someone else. At another place she could stay in her same room and that made a big difference to us because to us, at 96, having to move again would have been too much for her.

This was not one of my favorites, as it was small - 12 residents in each house and the people seemed more advanced, plus it would be about $10,000.
