My loved one was able to participate in more activities they enjoyed. My loved one fell during their stay at Ashbrook Village. Ashbrook ended up having to send my loved one to the hospital. The community charged us for two months, even though my loved one wasn't there for that entire period. Ashbrook Village had good food, and nursing aides.

The location is near my home, about 5.2 miles away. This review is in regards to the memory care section. The outside looks very good but I was not able to go back and try out a meal prior to placing her in this location. I understand why after seeing the meals. I have been in a couple medicaid only facilities and the meals are better there. I had a major issue getting the medication she is to take straightened out. After taking in a heating pad initially, it was taken away as there was not an order. I did get an order and they have not found the heating pad yet. I will probable take in another one. There is a lack of discipline among the workers as they play their music and they congregate together and not checking on others who are in their room. The place is clean. There is an activities chart on the wall but all the times I have been in there the only activity is music and trying to get the residences to also sing along. The TV is going all the time.

I recently visited this community with my Dad. The building and grounds are very nice. It is apparent they have spent more money on the grounds than the building, there are several issues on the inside that I would have addressed before the outside. The people taking care of the Residents are very friendly and seem to really care about each Resident. The people I met and talked with only wanted to talk about how many things they were doing like trips out of the building and parties. I thank that is really good. But, I'm looking for a place to take care of my Dad. I'm a little hesitate about a place that has three people responsible for activities and only 1 Nurse. I will continue to look, but Ashford Court will remain on my list as a possible.

The management is non existent the last few months. Terrible communication. Many residents are very upset. They just treated my family member like a number. Had a massive fall and broke his arm on a fall. Never once called to check on him to see if he was okay. Then argument over termination of his lease. Poor management and staff was more caring when cleaning out his apartment.

They were extremely understaffed when my dad was there. They had one CNA that was assigned to my dad's floor, who couldn't lift because of a bad back. She could not help my dad do anything from getting in and out of bed to dressing, etc. The same CNA left my dad in bed several mornings until he missed breakfast, and the PT or OT showed to get him up and dressed. I questioned admin about it many times and nothing was done. We loved the nurses. They were amazing!! I was very disappointed compared to what we had been promised/told before moving dad. Sadly, he passed away only 3 months after being at Westhill. I'm heartbroken, yet happy that he is in a better place.

My biggest concern was the safety of my wife. She had her own room on the second floor and was found to be one who tried to get out of the facility. I was informed of this and they put her in extended care during the day which is quite secure. On the sixth day I was informed she had opened the window about two feet in her room and was attempting to climb out. I asked why the window wasn't locked and said is was against their policy. I informed them of my policy and removed my wife from that facility. I have realized that she was misdiagnosed by their doctor and should have been in extended care from the beginning.
My husband was in this facility for one-month and he hated it. On his first night, his room was cold and no one checked on him. The thermostat did not work and no one showed him how to work the wall heater. I never saw the director of nursing check on him the whole time he was there. (It seems like the” assisted “ living was in name only). His TV was not hooked up for over a week because the maintenance man was out for medical reasons and there was no substitute. The toilet was dirty when he moved in and we had to get someone to clean it. The staff in the dining was respectful, and kind. The medication technician was also always respectful and very kind to him. The administrative staff was less than attentive to any concerns or requests made. My husband was wheelchair bound, and yet he was given a room on the 3rd floor. In case of fire, we were told that someone would go and bring him down in the elevator in spite of the sign that clearly states in case of fire use the stairs.

Poor value and poorer management. Oh...the "gourmet" meals: New York Style Coney Island meal. How about a regular size, hard to chew, dog with bun...and some chili splashed on it. Wow...delightful. Evening meals are the worst. Why would you feed seniors with a rubber hot dog (hard to chew) and chili when they have digestion problems at night! Oh...and try to catch an office staff person after 130 PM on Friday. Or try 245 on Tuesday PM. No luck. Have you ever had to call at 2 AM because you can't reach a sick loved one...BECAUSE NOBODY PICKS UP THE PHONE...even though a new phone system was just installed. Oh...price increases are a regular part of operations. My loved one, who has dementia, received a note in the mailbox that said...hey...we are gonna raise prices. He threw it away. It wasn't until our accountant raised a red flag. And let's not forget the new golf cart, the new furnishings, the new everything...and who pays for all that? Folks...they are gonna sell Creekside...fyi!

Not what it was advertised to be! It is very clean. The people who live there are friendly however the management is NOT. They really don't care about anyone there. Staff is the worst. They will tell you anything to get you to move in and afterwards they don't care at all. Food - Again false advertising. The activity Director is the only person there that actually cares about the residents.

Quality staff is being replaced by a constant turnover of 'agency' workers. Management claims 'open door' policy but refrains from contact with families. Management actually discourages staff from communicating with family. Very little personal interest in residents is shown by management. Atmosphere of 'fear of job loss' shown by remaining staff. 4.5 months was enough for us to remove mom from a toxic environment.

It could definitely be a great place if they had enough staff to patient ratio there is like two staff members per 20 I think, so these residents are not being checked on when they're in their rooms. It's impossible to care for that many people with only two staff members. The doors to the rooms are extremely heavy for elderly people to open and close. My mom could not get in and out of her room. She didn't have the strength to open the door and close it. It's very heavy. The rooms are very clean. The facility is very clean. The food seemed to be good. They gave them plenty and all they wanted to eat however, not enough staff to push fluids, again you have two staff members trying to feed six or seven people that cannot feed themselves so by the time they get around to everyone, the food is cold. I witnessed this on a daily, feeding one person at a time and then getting to others and the food is extremely cold that's not acceptable for the amount of money that you pay for your family members care. One other huge problem is they have nurses aids giving medication's. I didn't even think that that was legal, but it may be in this day and time which is also unacceptable these ladies and gentlemen have no idea what they are administering to residents and again the medicine was never given on time because they have so many residents. The activity director was amazing!

MB is a huge facility for assisted living and offers good food and friendly staff and lovely decor. But the memory care unit was a second thought obviously. There was absolutely zero “ Memory Care” when my 90 year old mom was there for a little more than a month. The floors are watched by CNA’s and Med Techs for the most part. When you do have the service of an actual RN or one in training, they did not exhibit an understanding of or training for Dementia. Residents wander in and out of rooms and I even saw a resident slap a woman her second day Magnolia, she later fell from her wheelchair on the patio alone, her blood was left behind for all to see, for days. A med tech once told me that every time mom yelled for help, they would record it and have her meds increased! I am grateful for Hospice, they were mom’s only saving grace besides my being there daily to check on her. Magnolia should close the memory care unit and stick to what they do best. A huge disappointment for us.

There is a shortage of staff and care is minimal. Since [date removed] admission, he has had one shower given by staff. I have given him all others. We were promised two a week but I’ve heard every excuse why they can’t do that. I shave him, clean his dentures and many times when I come his walker is no where near him and he has fallen often because they don’t seem to care to remind him he needs it. There is no nurse after 6 p.m. I can’t begin to list all of the items that have come up missing since he’s been there, many in the first week. His glasses, hearing aids, jacket, shoes, throw for his chair, and the one most disconcerting, his wedding band which he has never removed since he retired. I was able to locate his hearing aids at the bottom of a wastebasket. His legs and feet are so very swollen from sleeping so much sitting up in a chair without elevating the foot rest, that they now are seeping. They were not this way upon admission. I would not choose this facility again.

The facility is attractive and clean; has varied activities; is fair with not overcharging points and that is where it ends. Regarding assisted living, the facility performs poorly: inadequate staff:resident ratio; some staff can be dismissive toward residents; food was good until they hired a new lead “chef” and is no longer quality; not sufficiently knowledgeable in medically-involved resident care; high direct care staff turnover; considerable lack of communication between staff, residents, and families; and poor response time. I do not recommend for assisted living services.

Our dad lived here, last week the building had been in quarantine we walked into dad's room and it was horrible the condition it was in. Old food everywhere in containers. Bed sheets soiled with feces as well as on the carpet. It was extremely unacceptable. We as family spent 90 minutes cleaning the apartment. When management was approached all I got was excuses and I'm sorry. No charge in protocol will take place very disappointed in this facility

1) Management doesnt respond to concerns unless it's in their interest. Does not respond to emails or phone calls, however lower level personnel usually respond. 2) Management appears to prioritize financial objectives over the best interest of the occupant. 3) The Memory Care Unit is horrible. It desperately needs to be updated with newer furniture as the existing decor looks like it was procured from a thrift store. 3) MC staff exhibited minimal interaction with the residents. Usually one person sitting in the back of the room telling the residents to stay seated - I observed no activities during my visits and multiple people asleep with their heads on pillows seated at the kitchen table. 4) I had multiple visits to the MC unit where there was no staff present to oversee the residents. 5) My mother was basically unsupervised while in the AL portion of the facility at night. This makes no sense since the initial objective of this arrangement was mitigate the fall risk. Not sure I understand unless the objective was to either get rid of her because they couldn't meet her needs or they wanted to keep her monthly payments coming. 6) Absolutely no security in this place. The front desk is a joke -anyone can walk in and have the run of the place. 7) No effort to coordinate with the various caregivers (Nurse, PT, occupational therapist, etc) to formulate a care plan for those that need it. When I asked about this no satisfactory answer except awesome people want to make us look bad and you need to utilize our caregivers 8) Management and most of the staff will go out of their way to avoid you during a visit - strange! This facility can be so much more than it is - what a shame. We now have my mother in facility where they put the residents first - what a change.

Lack of communication with the family. I only heard from someone when it was negative. At the [community name removed] I am kept in the loop on everything. For example, when she refuses to take her meds, or requesting permission to give her a Covid or flu shot. They also includes me in the monthly meetings via teleconferences I never experienced anything like this at Heron East. On a positive note, I had a lot of good experiences with some of the staff.
