I would tell others not to take your loved ones here. My friends were not given their prescribed medications while they were here on multiple occasions.

Memory care services are poor. Some staff are friendly and helpful, but most don’t care to interact with the residents. Daily hygiene is inadequate. The food quality is poor with minimum variety. The rooms are rarely cleaned and the floors are usually sticky. There is always an issue with missing items in the laundry.

My mom lived, and died, at Paul Springs. She died as a result of a major covid outbreak in the facility in 2020. The only time the director spoke to me at any length was after my mom became seriously ill and needed to switch from independent care to a high-level of assistance. She made sure the contract was signed. After that, no contact. And then substandard care. I frequently arrived to find my bed-ridden mother soaked in urine from lack of attention. Meals were often not delivered and when they were, sometimes simply placed on the dining room table which she could not reach. I don't believe she was bathed more than a couple of times in two months and she was changed usually only when I asked. I discovered open wounds on her legs which was news to the nursing staff. In addition, after she died I learned they had "converted" her security deposit to "non-refundable." I would give negative stars if I could.

My grandmother was a resident and received terrible care. The neglect was awful and u should be ashamed of yourself. No one came in a timely matter,, and she sat in filth for hours. I would never ever in my life send another family member to this facility!!!!!!!

The community relations person is fabulous and very knowledgeable and on top of her game. However, you can not run a community with one person that is good at what she is doing. She helped me figure out so much stuff and gave me information on insurance I was not aware of. Before we moved in we had a meeting in regards to my mother and when I moved my mother in the day I got there I found out that they went on Covid lock down. No one told me or made me aware at all when I spoke with all of the head nurses. There were no staff and no one was allowed out of the room due to the lock down. I had to set up her room and lift her to get my mother situated. One resident was in the hall yelling that he needed help and no one came. She was supposed to get a wrist band that would show if my loved one fell and she never got a band. I finally found a nurse that could help and the nurse came in and helped and I had to assist the nurse. This was the only staff person I saw that whole day I was there. The next day I returned and was told I could not come in, my mother was sent to the hospital due to a fall and I was not notified. My loved one should not have been at the hospital because she was on hospice. My mother one night was in pain and they did not have any pain medication to give to her in the building. The maintenance was also no on top of getting things done. When my loved one passed I was not allowed to come into the room, nobody also knew where she was sent to.

My loved one was there for 8 months. They show you the beautiful garden and gazebo but youre not allow to go out there. While he resided there, I was under so much anxiety for the concern of him, that Im sure he was just as agitated on a day to day basis. The head nurse wanted to dope him up after the first day because thats what the other residents were taking. They keep the residents medicated so they can sit on their butts all day. Personal items were lost even with names on them. Dont get me wrong, I understand this occurs in Memory Care but with 10 residents if you cant keep track of what goes where theres a problem. The Health Director doesnt know how to the tell the truth if her life depended on it. So dont bother going to her for complaints. My father was moved 3 times to different rooms due to bugs on the floor for whatever reason they could not manage.

No activity on weekend as they say in activity calendar, fake!

Too expensive; didn't get a warm feeling about the facility

Once we determined mom needed more care - they were one of the locations that offered assisted living. I was initially very impressed because of the look and feel and apparent friendliness of the staff. We booked an appointment for them to come assess mom/ They never showed up and when they finally got back to me they gave me information that was inaccurate. They embellished things to make it seem much worse than it actually was. They said her case was worse than they could handle. I found this facility to have a lack of integrity and to not care for people who are already in a dire situation. I would absolutely not recommend them at all.

I would tell others looking into this facility that they gave my mother the wrong medication on multiple occasions. She would ask what the medications were because they did not look like her pills and the staff member said she was tired of explaining it to her and told her to put it in her mouth and swallow it. The cleaning staff at 3AM would come into her room and turn her lights on and get her trash and wake her up. My mom was here 30 days and during that time, there was a lot of staff members that left so there were unhappy people. The day she was admitted was her birthday and the chef here did make her a steak and they gave her a birthday cake, but that is the only positive thing I can say about The Wellington. I would not recommend them to others.

I have never been so disgusted and disappointed with the lack of care that my husband received here. We had many issues with The Hidenwood and had a very bad experience with them. They never let me in to see my husband but I was watching people go in and out of the facility. I called and the board of director and he said I should have been able to be going in. When I confronted them they then said I could come in anytime. I would not recommend this facility to anybody.

Who was surveyed? My mother died there less than 2 years ago. Over medicated. Sent letters to the Department of licensing on Director (no longer there) and doctors who treated my mother. This is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE Facility! My mother fell twice because of neglect. The second time she did not survive 10 days after the fall.

My father was just recently put I in over Thanksgiving. He has dementia and Alzheimer's but is not completely gone. He is so mad that this POA put him in here against his will but the care is terrible. Apparently they let him thrash about in his room at night not supervised. He has smashed his TV, lamp and his arms are covered in cuts. Which is horrible in itself but they appear to not be bandaged properly and they now itch and his hands & nails are covered in blood. I have called numerous times with no answers. I have filed a formal complaint with Fairfax County Elders abuse and they are having a formal investigation. My father was at home with 20 hours a day care and he was not having any of these issues...steer clear of this place if you really love your loved one!

Very disappointed. Facility more concerned with aesthetics of facility, not quality of care. Not enough trained staff for number of residents. Little to no activity in Memory Care. Rude staff at leadership level to aides. Handful of staff truly good to residents; majority of staff not there to care for residents.
