Not many room configurations to select from, limited space for family visits including dining room. No place to keep out of town guests on site. Prices are not set in stone so they can increase if they so desire.

Aarondale facility has the charm of a "georgia estate" which it was built to represent. Positive are: it has a stately atmosphere, a two floor open space locked down portion for wanderers/dementia/Alzheimer's patients, and reasonably base pricing that can escalate easily. I also appreciated the referrals offered by Ana. Negative: please do not provide spiels that state you can handle "difficult" patients when the family is being overt about the situation then state you cannot take the person for the same qualities extolled by the family.

Crazy place, would be better for someone active

This was weak, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week it was just weak. I know they get a high rating but once you move in they kind of forget about you, it's crazy, you can't find your key, you can't find a diaper, it's just crazy. We're all going to get there eventually but what's important is that they take care of you. I'm not trying to bash the Fountains, they're fine if your active but my father in law wasn't. Their facility is nice and it's clean, I mean it's clean, clean. I could walk around there with a glove and not pick anything up. They had given my father in law the code to leave out the door and I was like "what the hell?!" and then he gave that number, which he barely remembered, to another man who went out and got drunk. It was crazy, it was like high school days when you went out, got drunk and came home. I guess when you get older you start to miss those days, and when you're 80 you really miss it.

Improve nursing management .

Nursing staff does not seen to be well managed. They don't appear to have any systems in place for what each resident is suppose to get and any checks to make sure they are being done. The place is very nice looking, they seem to spend a lot of their resources on appearances but not much on the nursing staff. There also is no monthly program or newsletter you can see on line to see what residents can do. I wish they would improve their nursing staff and administration from top down, then it would be great.

A Big Disappointment

It seemed like a good place. Until my parents were settled in. Each person has a life alert type pendant to wear. When we went there my parents were told they could expect to wait up to 20 minutes for a response. If someone is having a heart attack or stroke that's about 15 minutes too long. Recently my father, who needs help getting up and dressed (and is paying through the nose for this service) waited not 20 minutes but 1 1/2 hours for help. This following another day when the wait was an hour. For the amount of money they're paying and the level of service they signed up for, this is very bad value for the money. My father had to be in depends while in the nursing home right before coming to the Towers. So many issues here. They're supposed to get him up once during the night to use the toilet. Sometimes this doesn't happen until 4 a.m. by which time it's too late. Also, in the mornings the people who come to dress him are supposed to help him to the toilet. What they do is tell him to just go in the depends. My father is not making any progress in the toilet issues because no one is taking the time to work on it. My mother arrived there walking with a cane. They put her on a walker. Seems like a step backward to me. My father arrived in a wheelchair but able to walk some with a walker. They keep him in a wheelchair. Even though he has had physical therapy there that has proven that he can use a walker at least some of the time. My parents aren't being encouraged to get any better but actually encouraged to get worse. Liability is probably to blame for this. Easier to keep them pushed down than to risk a fall, at least from the perspective of the owners of the Towers apparently. Each person's apartment is supposed to be cleaned once a week and the beds changed, the sheet laundered, the bed remade. As of today my mother's bed hasn't been changed for 3 weeks. When my mother had issues with my dad's care and was referred to the head of nursing (which is actually misleading since there are no nurses there, only nursing assistants) she was belittled and made to feel stupid for asking questions. There's not enough parking, I often have to park on the street. They're understaffed, of why else the low level of service? The marketing director paints the picture of a loving and caring environment. The reality falls very short of expectations raised. Some of the staff are very friendly and caring and are doing their best but there just aren't enough of them. This week I'm going to start looking into someplace else to take care of my parents. I no longer feel that they're safe and well looked after at the Towers.

The tour and reality don't match

You need to know that once you are in the facility, if your family member needs care in the higher care tiers/levels, you will need to constantly fight to get your loved one the care they need and the care you are paying for. Many staff members care about the residents, but the medical techs are stretched thin and will only do their job if you continuously advocate and push them to do so. Even then, a lot falls through the cracks. Additionally, the doctor's office associated with this facility is a flat-out scam. They will charge you without actually seeing your loved one, prescribe mystery medications, etc. After two years we never saw the actual doctor once and rarely would the RN actually examine my parents..

Good Staff, Bad Mangement

My parents have lived at the Barrington for several years. In that time the care they have received has been spotty at best. The front line staff are all very friendly and as helpful as they can be, given the limitation of resources. The management is uncaring and ever-changing. There have been 2 "permanent" directors in the 3 years they have been there - 1 lasted 5 weeks. All the other directors have been interim and part of the Corporate staff - at least 3 of those. We have experienced many issues over the years and it is virtually impossible to get a response from anyone, nevermind a resolution. They just don't care.

Looks are deceiving

It’s a new building, so it looks nice, for now. Unsure why the elevators keep breaking despite the new construction. “Gourmet culinary experience” is just Sysco, mostly just heated up frozen foods. Management is shockingly inept and rude. Expectations are all over the place and extremely inconsistent due to managements weak communication. Never enough staff, always late with medication and sometimes never come at all.

Be Cautious

They're liars. To me, a promise made is a debt unpaid. What they promise they do not fulfill. They are poor communicators and do not do what they say they will. They do not return calls. I've found them to be very unappreciative of the fact that we were spending a ton of money there. Their interest in serving the everyday needs of their patients and families is really lacking. My person did not feel safe there due to aggression from some of the male residents. Overall it was a distasteful experience. They did not do anything near what they promised. When I moved my person out, they didn't even seem to care. I certainly would not give them a recommendation to anyone.

Independent living

I have been here for two years. The Fountains of the Albermarle has been a very nice facility but it is over 40 years old and many things are too old and need to be fixed like the heating and cooling system. My apartment the valves and thermostat needs to be replaced. We have had three different property directors since I have been here. The turnover of employees is one of the biggest problems. Once maintenance sees the problem and director puts in request, he leaves for another job. Now our 4th property director has just left this week. I have to call maintenance every time I switch from heat to air. The food is not healthy. Too many fried foods, carbohydrates, and sugars. I know a dietitian signs the menu but there are not enough fruits and good vegetables as a choice. [name removed] is really trying but can only serve what is sent to him. We would love fresh fruits and vegetables. I believe it all starts at the top.[name removed] needs to be replaced.

Looks good however understaffed

The place looks good. However cleanliness is just ok. 20% of the staff cares. The others are just getting a pay check. The management is not good. Does not respond to emails. There is rarely upper management on site over the weekends. They let one of the most caring people that I have ever met go. She begged for support but never received any. She loved the residents and that’s what is missing there. It’s so sad. They lost there management for memory care and have not replaced her. I just pray for the best every day. I could go on and on.

Poor place for assisted living

Don’t let the master staircase fool you. This place looks beautiful and might be good for independent living. However, assistant living services are terrible. My relative wasnt able to get a shower for days, treated terribly by CNA staff, spoken poorly about over the walklie talkie system. You can spend your life savings here, and the leadership won’t care.

Not a good place for dementia.

It is a very nice, new facility that would be good for more independent seniors. My dad as admitted to the memory care unit and fell numerous times. One time he broke his nose, another time he broke his back. They could never even explain how he fell and broke his back.
