When they have enough people it's good but when they don't, things tend to not get done. My Mom will need Medicaid available facility because her money is running low.

They were very helpful and kept us informed. Rooms were a good size. My dad was in a memory unit so he didn't participate much but others were involved in activities.

Good, but not quite what Mom needed

They generally do a good job here. It's nice looking, the staff are friendly, and the cost is not high. Mom needed a bit more care than what they were able to provide, we felt like they did not watch her closely. We also had issues with her shared room, and felt like there was not much effort put into selecting a compatible roommate.

October 2021 review

The communication with the care services needs to be improved, as guardian of our loved one we prefer any discussion making come through us first, not go through our loved one first who has memory issues. We want to make sure the right precautions and discussions are being made. We have not been able to eat the meals there ourselves so we do not feel comfortable giving it a rating, but according to our loved one the meals are disgusting. Given the circumstances the staff really do work hard for everything we can see and generally this situation is good for our loved one. We are also happy with the way our loved ones living quarters are set up.

Small, Intimate Community

The quality isn't there than like another community. The community was recently renovated. All of the staff are cordial. They give you a list of all the staff numbers to call about your loved one. If you have complaints the director wants to know. If your finances are tight this would be a community to check out. My loved one is in a shared room.

one month independent level review

Jury is still out. Pop fell in love with the place and people and i respect his choice. It is a brand new building with shake out issues that are being addressed in ways that are different from the ways i would have chosen. (Different does not make it bad). Protocols are falling into place as well, and ammenities are coming together. (Albeit not at my speed) People are being moved from place to place during renovation; although Pop has not been inconvienenced except for laundry facility move. Pop is being well monitored, cared for medically and enjoys a friendly and good rappore with all the employees in his area. My interactions with the administrative staff have been good and they are understanding. The activities are well below my fathers independent capacity but he is not much of a joiner. All in all a good experience but with some reservations regarding certain changes and choices i have seen made by the facility within the month my father has been there.

Very friendly staff, but slow call-button response times

In general I think Saucon Valley Manor is a nice place. The people who work here seem very genuine, caring, and are just very nice people overall. They were very communicative and always answered my questions promptly. However, I had one big issue with the service. The response times to the in-room call buttons is VERY slow. Whenever I would visit the call button notification would be going.

What they could improve on would be that it take sooooooo long to come to the residents room when paged or for admin staff to get back to phone calls

Needs Improvement

Make sure the staff is fully aware of food allergies. My father was deathly allergic to shellfish and on a day I was visiting (thankfully I was there) they served him shrimp. The staff is sweet but they are short staffed and they become overwhelmed, especially in memory care. My father had soiled himself during a visit and it wasn't until I offered to bathe him myself nearly 20 min later that someone was actually able to help. He had several falls and during a visit was left unattended in the locked dining room. I recommend not letting staff know when you're visiting and visit at random day/time

Great place but good workers are scarce.

They are short staffed and things are overlooked at times. I get frustrated when at times they use our elderly parents lack of memory or such to their advantage when things don't get done. They'll tell us, oh we did do this or that when my mom says they didn't.

A nice community but communication and follow through could be improved

Parkland Manor does have some good folks there, the head nurse [name removed] really does a great job, however the management could be more hands on. The daughter of the owners [name removed] was a hands on manager but she has been gone for some time now and so things have begun to lack. The communication lacks and there is inconsistencies with the delivery of services like medication. When there is medication updates or anything regarding our loved ones health it is not communicated with our loved ones primary doctor. We think one there is a stable head manager things will really start to improve and expectations will be met.

Great Staff

The staff went out of their way to communicate with me about my dad. He had several staff members he was very fond of, and we were treated with respect and consideration. As his illness progressed, they adapted to his changing needs, and they were responsive to our concerns. Another of my family members was there recently as a temporary measure, and her experience was not as positive. My understanding is that some of the staff have left and things may have changed. But my information is good as of December, though.

Parkland Manor didn't have the homey feeling I was looking for. For instance, the dining room had fake marble tables. It seemed very institutionalized They don't make their meals there, which seems odd to me. Meals get made offsite and then are brought in, which is one of the reasons we didn’t go there. And again, it just didn't feel homey.

Not what I expected

They do not really engage them much, the residents are usually just sitting in a room with a TV. I think the staff could be more encouraging and get her out because it is not doing any good for her. She does play bingo and goes to church but that is about it, I think there could be more going on in memory care. There are a lot of things she is missing and I think the staff could watch that better and be more attentive. You have to call and make appointments to come see your loved ones and the hours are difficult when you work. It is very expensive especially for what we are getting.

New Community, Still Needs To Establish Better Organization and Training

I would not recommend anyone to Bethlehem Manor Memory Care. My loved one progressed with their memory care needs. The community had issues with giving my loved one baths, and I offered to come in and try to assist with this. The community didn't have me come in. I did offer to take up familiar things to help make bathing time better. The assistant director kind of accused of family members of lying about my loved one's condition. This was repeated multiple times. This is what bothered me the most. I did have concerns about my loved one's memory care needs and the other residents in the community. They ended up transferring my loved one to the hospital and my loved one never made it back to the community. The community initially offered to have my loved one return to the community from the hospital, and then decided not to bring my loved one back to the community. This felt like a lie to us about my loved one being welcomed back into the community. However, I do understand why the community didn't want my loved one back. I just wish that the community was more upfront and didn't seem to lie to us, or accuse us of holding the truth about our loved one back. My loved one ended up in other resident's clothes. There are still missing items of my loved one's in the community. I believe the community needs to have better training for the staff members. I didn't find or see any actual nursing in the community. There were times that I didn't see any aides on the floor, and this concerned me for the residents. I have heard other people that love the community. It didn't seem there were many daily activities. They did have someone coming in for music they said.
