What we like the most about Kauhale Byrd Springs community is the staff and residents are friendly. We love the large windows that allow a lot of natural light into common spaces. It feels like a home.

I toured this community while looking into care options for a loved one. The facility was well kept and clean, and all of the staff I met seemed friendly and professional. We ended up selecting another community, but this is somewhere I would have considered as an option for my loved one.

I think their meals are very good. Most of the staff is very helpful and concerned. Some of the staff could improve. I think the residents could have some additional activities for the residents that cannot get out. This would help the residents that have less mobility and independence.

Cleveland Park was very nice, but way to big for us with three floors.

My loved one was here for four years. We had to move because she was getting to need more care than they provided. It was nice though, we never had any issues or concerns. It was a good place.

My mother lived her for ten years until early stage dementia exceeded the capacity of this facility to provide level of care she needed. With most recent management, service overall exceeded expectations. The staff really worked hard with her even when her dementia proved extremely trying (oppositional, combative). Secure facility, pretty good food, and rates reasonable for level of care provided. Don't expect lots of attention, especially on weekends. Services that staff can provide for medication assistance, reminder to go to meals, showering quite good, but assistance with dressing, keeping clothes clean was spotty, though that also reflected my mother's dementia.

We were very impressed with the facility and the staff we observed. Specifically a studio on a 'ground' floor, because cannot do stairs during a fire drill at this time.

The facility has many good points. 1. clean and well decorated 2. circular floor plan so the residents can more endlessly around the circle never having to turn around...always seeming to be new territory 3. friendly staff 4. locked down so no resident can wander off 5. decent food. The issues I have found that are negative 1. laundry not done in a timely manner 2. loss of many clothes and bedding 3. staff using my mothers supplies ( diapers, wipes, bed pads, sheets, boost drink) on other patients at our expense. 4. allowing my Mom to sleep in a wet bed (from urine) and not changing it in the morning, but just making the bed with the wet sheets and pads. 5. The staff not addressing these negative issues, even though they are brought to the staffs attention weekly. I realize, that memory care patients are difficult and high maintenance, but my mom's care (outside of her rent) is [amount removed] per month. At that price, I expected to have her receive better care. I don't know if these problems are similar at other facilities with memory care patients, but that is what I have found at Kauhale.

They could be kinder and more helpful in the dining room. My mom said there was a lot of yelling. It may have all been good natured but to the residents it was upsetting. Mom kept saying there was a lady who couldn't feed herself and the ladies at her table were stopped from trying to help. I don't know what that was about. Activities were rare but I always thought the people who worked there were sweet. I do need to emphasize that she left shortly after it changed from The Parker to Kauhale and she was in memory care.. My recommendation is that if Kauhale is close to where you live and you can visit frequently, your loved one will receive great care. My mom really liked the people who worked there.

The facility and staff are great. Many tech problems however at the onset. Took almost eight weeks until the phone was working. Getting an invoice also a problem. These issues may have been due to new owners. Time will tell.

Comments- very challenging front desk experience. Not friendly. Key staff are non responsive generally when any inquiries made. Generally, most care givers were pleasant. The experience for memory care follows the same mundane schedule each day. For memory care assisted living, my mother had very little direct oversight. She had fallen probably a half dozen to a dozen times. The last got her expelled. Not a pleasant journey. My mid grades are because I estimate they provide a median care service. Our experience sounds good. Service varied with shift, management changes, and personnel. Has room to improve

I didn't find much difference in staff interaction and activities from that of any other long term care setting..supposed to be specialized in memory care... They could improve the experience by educating their aides on how to interact with unpredictable behavior or residents with hearing and visual impairments...

I would recommend the facility to others especially for members care. It has a small number of residents. It's a nice small place that is going through the process of new owner, staff and renovations. Place is very clean, one staff could use an attitude check, the meals are not up to par in my opinion for memory care; too many cold sandwiches.

Symphony of Centerville just didn’t have a homey feel to it at all. It felt more like a hospital or a nursing home. The rooms were small. The bathrooms were beautiful, but the rooms were extremely small compared to the other places we looked at.

We have had multiple issues with my mom needing help and waiting over an hour or multiple hours for assistance. Food listed on menu and items that are supposed to always be available are often not available or at least servers tell that to residents. Medications poorly managed. I think that they are going through a transition phase and trying to improve but our experience has been lack luster at best. Smell of urine often appears in back hallway.

I would suggest better trained staff and more staff to be able to monitor the residents specifically on the memory care side where my mom was at. They did not interact with her as I thought they would. The facility is lovely and maintenance staff keep it in good shape. Also food quality and the delivery method for the memory care side could be much improved. This facility has potential but the CNA staff needs improvement. If the patient is independent and only needs reminders then it would be fine.

When we came to look at The Parker, they made it very appealing and affordable. They told us all of these great things that they were going to offer. Although it was affordable, the care was sub-par and they did not carry through with the promises that were made. They did not clean the rooms and we had a major issue with that. It was left up to families to clean the room, but for all that money we were paying we thought that should be included. The were not very attentive either. There were days they would ask if she wanted to eat or shower and if she said no, they just left her. The nursing staff is young and in-experienced and are just not very engaging with the residents. We had a couple of meetings with them about this issue but nothing changed. It is a beautiful facility, but once we moved in and got into a daily routine, it was not a good experience for our family.

If you're going to place a family member in The Parker, you need to be an advocate for them to make sure they get what they need. Don't assume that it's just automatically going to happen. You have to advocate for them to make sure they're getting what they're paying for and what they need. There are just not enough staff. The facility looks pretty and is clean. But the response times and care are not good. If I had it to do over again, I would not place her here. There's not much going on. You just see closed doors and no people out and about doing things.

I do not think I would recommend this community. The staff are friendly however, it does not seem like they are as engaged with the residents as I would like. There are not many activities for them to do at all. I have also asked for my mothers closet doors to be fixed and it still has not been fixed yet They told me to buy a curtain and use that but that is not what I'm paying for.

This was very nice. It was just out of our price range. When we were looking at this we were looking at memory care and we realized she didn't need memory care just yet and could do assisted living.

We chose Elmcroft because we went and visited and it was very clean, the price was better than what we had seen at some others places, and the staff seemed to be really nice. It is a pleasant atmosphere and administration was helpful. The room sizes here were sufficient for what my dad needed, he had his own bedroom but a shared den area. There was not a lot of communication unless it had to do with covid. It was going to start out being a really good experience, but covid came the day I dropped my dad off so it was not normal operations.
