Compassionless to the folks who pay them for an over priced understaffed brothel that is Condoned. The only time they will acknowledge you is if it is the first of month when rent is due. I am currently a resident at Solstice Senior Living at Bangor and the experience hasn't been good. I'm also very unhappy with the food. I would not recommend this facility to others.

I was in assisted living due to health issues which had impressed. The Manager came in to meet me during the tour and demanded my POA be involved. Even though my POA was only incase I couldn’t make my own decision. But he demanded she be part of the conversation and told me to come back with her. I won’t go back at all. I was treated badly and rudely by him like I can’t make my own decisions. Who wants to live where the manager treats you like your stupid.

My father in law was here for over a year and it became so intolerable, we were forced to move him. He became physically ill more than once from the food. While kitchen staff and management knew he had issues with chewing, they often served him leather like meat, he would leave the table hungry. His apartment included weekly cleaning, there were times where cleaning staff didn't clean for an entire month and when they did it was never properly cleaned. To be honest...it was filthy. Don't let the pretty entrance fool you...this place is run like a cheap hotel. Management is condescending.....

Beautiful facility. The staff needs a lot of work. They have been known not provide services to the residents. The Director of Aging has been known to use foul language to the residents and she does not make sure they get their services (including pills). All of the staff needs traning on how to work with the elderly. They need to have understanding that they can get confused, lonely, and bored. The house keeping staff does not cleanas well or as much as they are supposed to. I wish I could leave a better review but that would be lying. Please only send your loved one here if they are fully independent and just want to down size.

Meals at Solstice are horrible. My parents lived there for 21/2 years and I saw what was served often. There were no “chef” inspired meals or a “culinary team”. The meals were unappetizing, poorly made and lacking nutrition. What a disappointment for seniors who rely on their meals being served to them. It really makes life miserable to never ever have good meal especially with the cost so high.The wrong meals were served, service was delayed by hours or NO food was served. On several occasions my parents were served a microwaved hotdog, no bun and nothing else. They were served peanut butter sandwiches and told they had no food in the kitchen. Neither of my parents can eat peanut butter. We often brought food to supplement what they were not getting. Simple pleasures like eating should never be denied anyone especially our seniors who need love and care the most. Many requests were made to management seeking a solution. Nothing was ever done.

They follow any rules to the letter, to include if your husband passes away and you've moved some belongings in but haven't fully moved in yet, you still have to pay full price and give a month's notice. They're the most insensitive people that I've ever dealt with. No compassion whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody. Hold onto your dollars, because if you don't have any dollars, they don't care about you in any way, shape, or form.

Current resident. Building is falling apart, with exception to public view. Continue to violate tenant laws without providing proper notice to water shut off or other maintenance. Mealtime has become an outrageous experience, being told they’ve run out of food, menu items, or dishes to serve you with. Place is filthy, have MANY photos to provide, along with EXTERIOR MOLD AND DRYROT to many areas of the building. Staff seems inadequate to properly manage and address issues.

I moved out of this facility. There were not enough activities provided and it just cost way too much money. I would tell others to watch out for some of the other tenants, most are very nice but there were a few that were less than pleasant. If you are ever short on money, they will kick you out. The whole place died at 6PM - there was nothing going on and no residents out and about.

I wasn't impressed with this community, even though they were doing renovations. The other concern I had was the community had shared laundry facilities and this would be hard for my loved one.

There is room for improvement, they are very short on help right now, there are no cleaners and no cooking staff. It takes a couples hours for the meals and then you are served less then satisfactory food.

This used to be a wonderful facility until Solstice took over. They have continually cut services while increasing the rates. My mother's rate increased 30% in 4 years. They stopped providing a 24 hour concierge and internet. If the fire alarms go off during the night, all the residents just have to stand at their doors until someone figures out what is going on as there is no Solstice staff in-house at night. They say they provide weekly housekeeping services, but they have only cleaned my mom's room 6 times in the last 9 weeks and they have only changed her bed 3 times. Their contract says they will launder linens, but they will not. On a good note, they have a new chef and my mom likes the food.

The management of Solstice has done nothing to protect their residents during the Covid 19 outbreak. I was so happy when my mother elected to move from this facility. The food has gone from passable to inedible. The meals are cold with cheap ingredients that no one should have to suffer with. I wonder what happened to the food budget? This place use to be a wonderful place to live it now has become a prison with no direction. The last time I had to ever walk through the door the management had posted a large sign in the lobby promoting a basket raffle. The cost to enter you ask. You had to submit a 5 star review of the facility. They can keep their basket.

I would not recommend this community, every time we went in there it smelled like urine in the entry way and ever worse up in the hallways. It was just bad news.

I would try any other community than Solstice Senior living. They messed up the financial side for my loved one. They wanted more money, I let them know I had paid the full amount. No one can give me an answer about the They keep sending my loved one a bill for an amount. They are not keeping up with their own finances. The administrative staff isn't good.

Have 2 parents here in separate apartments so they are getting 2 full rent checks. Service has gone downhill steadily since the first parent entered 2 1/2 years ago, just after it turned over from the Tamarak to the Solstice. Initially the food was great, the director and staff were friendly and went out of their way to provide excellent service. Once he was let go along with many of the staff, things steadily have declined. Even though the cosmetic appearance has been improved with renovations, the food is NOT "restaurant-quality cuisine" as they advertise. It is carb-laden and not the "unique, flavorful menus with a variety of options and making nearly everything from scratch" as promised in the advertising - far from it. Activities are at a bare minimum. There is no available contact after hours for maintenance problems that arise - residents are on their own until someone arrives the next day. No one returns calls and our parents have waited weeks just to have minimal repairs done. Housekeeping has been poor with the promised weekly cleaning and washing of sheets and towels down to monthly, if at all. Getting tired of "the COVID" excuse for nothing getting done. We referred a friend 2 years ago and never got the referral bonus as promised. And, of course, it is "raise the rent" time again with nothing to offer for it. Looking for a new place, needless to say!

This facility was ok before Solstice took it over. Now I wouldn't kennel my dog there. The rent continually goes up , as the services and quality goes down. There is no one to express your concerns to as I have tried many times, even at the corporate level and have been completely ignored. I was in the midst of moving my mother from Solstice but she past away before I was able to. I don't think I know of a more uncaring greedy facility than Solstice at a time when you are devastated by the passing of a loved one. Solstice made our lives as difficult as possible at a time when we could have used a helping hand.

Not a nice facility and not impressed with sales person

Food was not good. Because of COVID very difficult to have quality of life.

No one on staff after 7pm. Residents are given a "life alert" pendant that reaches pd or fd for 7pm to 7am. Care is given by Harvest Monday thru friday only. Place smelled like old stale urine.
