They have run down since she moved there and fired most of the staff Food and maintenance has run down. Right now there is no maintenance staff. Id o not recommend Solstice Living at Austin.

We moved my in-laws to a casita with help from "[name removed]". My father in law left the premises and got picked up by the police. So, we had to move them inside (which involved another trip to las cruces and yet another move). A month later, they said they couldn't handle my father in law's dementia so they insisted we pay for a 24 hour care if he stayed there. We ended up moving both of them to [community name removed] which was a locked unit and what he needed. Solstice could not provide the care they needed and it was stressful, expensive and extremely inconvenient for them to be there.

Very disappointed, but can't afford to move again. Most of the staff is ok. Problems with food and food service. Often run out before everyone is served. Each meal takes an average of 2 hours. Residents are unfriendly not only rude to other residents but to staff as well.

My friends aren't too happy with Solstice Living because they didn't tell them about all the hidden charges that were involved, like a mandatory $[removed] move in fee, and $[removed] mandatory fee for emergency bracelets, movers have to use the stairs instead of the elevator to go up to the higher floors which cost my friends another $[removed] due to having to use the stairs ,parking is terrible for residents due to no assigned spots and all the staff and visitors take up most of the spots . Place is very clean and friendly , Food is ok, lots of activities and laundry

They need to work on maintenance of rented apartments, cleanliness of resident halls, food quality and friendliness of staff. It started off well. Then the Executive Director, Business Manager, Chef, and Maintenance positions all turned over. Right now, I would not recommend.

The college students were very friendly and willing to help.They need a new manager. The food is awful, not experienced in healthy senior diets. No activities offered for theduration, that my loved one was there. The tenants complain to the wall. They are not what they advertise or promise.

Our loved one was a resident at Solstice and it is a very old building that really needs some upkeep, it almost seemed a little depressing and just disappointing. Once they started loosing their staff everything went downhill - house keeping suffered, as well as the food and transportation.

This was a nice senior living place but the care cleanliness, and definitely the food (service - meals lack of food and staff -no nutritional meal prepared for different diets/ diabetes) has greatly declined. The price theses residents are paying does not equal to the service that are providied. No staff on call after hours if a fire would occur the residents are left helpless. No Maintance on call after hours. The state needs to investigate that better care is provided for these Seniors.

I like the community as a whole. The food could use improvement for the residents. They need more selections for the residents to choose from. They keep repeating tuna or chicken casserole for dinner multiple times. They need more of a selection of activities and amenities available for the residents.

The staff was very accommodating. But cleanliness of the patients' rooms was lacking, as was personal hygiene of the residents. Many a time he was lying in his own urine and feces, and they didn't do anything.

It feet tired and needs updates. The people was nice.

I hate it here! The food is horrible. Only 8 of the meals are served in the dining room, the rest are served in Styrofoam containers for the residents to eat in their room. The texture of food is really poor. There are cooked vegetables but they are slimy. The food selections are not very unique. They do remember the dietary restrictions of the residents, but there is no way to honor the restrictions. There are maintenance issues that need to be addressed in a quicker manner for the residents. There is staff turnover.

Very close to busy streets. All independent living, so any help/care is extra and seems pricey. The heating system in the apartment is a mini-split system, like in a motel, so you have complete control over the heating and cooling of your apartment but the unit takes up a big amount of valuable space in each room.

Representative was friendly, but facility is 20 years old and showing its age. Units are expensive especially given the age and condition.

It should be an option for residents who are completely ambulatory and independent. There are no care services offered there. If you want completely independent senior living, this would be a good community. The food is average, but is the quality and amount fluctuates. Part of there problem is that they just keep employees so there's a very high staff turnover in the kitchen. While my was mom there, her mobile scooter was stolen from the hallway through the night and it was never recovered.

I would look for someplace else. My loved ones complained about the food being horrible and offering no variety . Other residents complained directly to about the food as well. Our parents chose this community. I would not recommend this community to other families.

I would say that from the management down, they are not very friendly with their residents. Generally, they are sending out written notice to the residents in a threatening manner regarding restrictions. The building is nice by all appearances. It just the underlying attitude of the staff that makes it not a friendly and comfortable place to live.

Don’t care for the neighborhood and place old and not appealing.

My parents moved in last summer and it is a nice place and staff but a few major issues since Solstice took over for the Gables 1 - this location is down a country road miles into thick woods --THEY DO NOT HAVE A GENERATOR! - it was promised back in January 2018 and sure enough the power went out and residents only had hall lights, NO HEAT AND the elevator didn't work for days- so , my father who can barely walk had to almost be carried down the stairs when I picked him up and drove them out of there to safety and our home - this is a total disgrace and epic blunder 2 - Despite constant complaints, the food is still terrible - my dad: "I had better food in the Navy' - and the portions are sparse

We live in a very nice ground floor apartment (to avoid long elevator waits) in Yosemite Gardens. Local management, staff, activities director, and residents are great. Some advice for any senior facility you consider: Eat several meals and look over the weekly and daily menus to see if the choices, quality, taste, and temperature are to your liking. Remember, you will eat thousands of meals, and spend thousands of dollars, based on your decision. Are the chairs comfortable and safe? You will sit in the chairs up to 120 hours a month. About 6 months ago, I fell in one of the 12-year-old chairs and was, miraculously, only slightly hurt. The casters jam and the casters fall out. Replacement is promised, someday, hopefully before somebody is seriously injured.
