My family member has not been there very long. It's a difficult transition and it's a bit to soon to tell. We opted for the cottage. It feels much more like a house and seemed like the best option for now, going from a home twice the size of the cottage, we needed to step down slowly. We may opt for an apartment in the main building later on. I was a little surprised to find out the cottage didn't have central Air/Heat but rather has window units. It's pretty expensive to not have central HVAC in my opinion and especially in Texas where the heat can be really bad. The building is nice, always clean, staff has been friendly and helpful for the most part. The meals and food seem to be pretty good. They painted our place (my grandmother's place) in her color choice from top to bottom, we just had to supply it. I thought that was a nice touch. They are throwing a house warming party for her to welcome her and inviting family. Also a nice touch. More to come....

It was very nice except the first impression was very poor. you immediately come in and you see the dining hall and it's just a bunch of table and elderly people. There was no ambiance. It was like a chow hall for the military. They took us in the back to talk to us and show us around. The room that hey were offering was very nice and the price was lot cheaper but that first impression was bad. My wife immediately said no. Maybe they should wall off the eating area? I don't know.

There were really nice people but the size of the units was just too small and they had no transportation that could accommodate wheelchairs so that was minus.

Those of us who know her best think she is probably ready for assisted living. Her dementia is getting worse. This facility was the only senior living center who had an opening and would accept the resident.

Be sure that the staff has had a background check several I was victim of a phone transaction when the staff used my phone

Make sure you're comfortable with not having someone there 24/7. They do not have many staff there on evenings or weekends. Depending on the person, this might not be important. I think it would be nice if they could add a deadbolt lock on the doors that go to the patio (at least on the ground floor apartments). More choices on the food menu would be good.

It was the only option for the cost. And now they've raised the rent by [amount removed] a month. I'm terrified they're going to do it again and my mom will be forced out. Without a lease, they can do whatever they want. There is a very large amount of people living there who should be living in assisted living. It's a very sick and very old population overall. The quality of food has gone way down, too. The staff is wonderful, though. I don't know if I'd recommend it. I'm very worried about uncontrolled cost.

Solstice is a good independent facility but not that great for dementia and Alzheimer's. The staff has residents there with dementia and Alzheimer's but my parents who have it are not doing very well. We were told to pay for meal and event notification yet my parents still sleep all day. It really is more for independents and not assisted living individuals. There is a wonderful staff person named [name removed] who helped us a lot but none of us realized the extent of the diseases. We made a mistake but are trying to make the best of it.

I would encourage them to also look at some alternatives. Mom did not like the food very much, not much variety. Her apartment was supposed to be cleaned weekly, and she was lucky to have it cleaned at all. The staff was okay, but there were many staff changes while she was there. She was ill for the last few months there and passed away on [date removed]They charged us for January (because she did not give 30 days notice--she unfortunately did not know what day she would die). We had to threaten legal action to get the money back as her lease clearly stated that she would not be charged for additional months after her passing. I probably wouldn't recommend this place to a friend.

My parents left in [date removed]. Things that they were told would happen did not. Laundry done and sheets washed--no. Beds changed--only put clean sheets on if stripped. Clean apartment weekly--every other week at best. Would not vacuum furniture or dust. Only bathrooms, kitchen and floors were done. Prices raised, services lowered. Dining room was inadequate. Closed periodically for various reasons, staffing, AC not working. Bagged food only provided during those times. Made them stand in line and not get food served. Only served people who weren't mobile. They liked their apartment but hated living there. Were told they would have free covered parking. Had to pay for it. It was bad.

I’m very comfortable here but the shortage of staff plays a large part in my review. We have plenty to eat but quality of each menu item varies. They should be using and following standardized recipes. I couldn’t ask for any nicer and caring staff members…all of them!

They often run out or do not have the foods on the menu as listed. Many food items are just heated up - not cooked on property. The manager and leadership are very good at Solstice Senior Living at Fenton.

Pros: The staff is great. Friendly, professional, helpful, just amazing personalities all the way around. The activities are fun. Cons: The food is sometimes not even edible. We filed a complaint and that is supposed to be getting better. The cleaning crew is overwhelmed and they don't clean it as thorough as I would like but I am VERY picky about cleanliness.

Well, we've had an issue with food. Their answer is meat is expensive. They use too much chicken. Outdoor patio grass unsafe not level when takes dog out.

I loved Solstice from [dates removed] The food in this community was hardly palatable. I took photos if most meals. I caught COVID-19 the second week there because a resident with COVID was not confined to her room. I was sick for several days before the staff checked in with me. When I first moved in, the commode in the main bedroom was leaking. The commode did not get repaired until the day I moved out. In the meantime, I lived with paper towels sound the leak. My front door needed repair, which I reported. I had to leave my front door unlocked most of the time. During my stay, staff turnover was abundant, not a good sign. I moved out because of the above reasons, plus other incidents I don't want to mention.

The problem we faced in the time we had there was they changed the staff that they used for caregivers at first it was great with [name removed] and her staff but when it changed to [removed] and I forget the guys name it was terrible and I was shocked at the care they gave my parents. I ended up hiring our own caregivers from an agency to care for them.

Meals need work. Usually cold and boring..too many sandwiches. Usually run out of soup..only dessert is ice cream..

There has been a lot of staff turnover and very high rent increases this year.

It took my mom and dad a while to get comfortable with moving from their home to a senior living facility. But once they recognized that it was the right move, they've had nothing but good things to say about Solstice.

The food is bad and their system for dining and meal ordering is very ridged and complex for elderly people to learn. Most offerings in the building are geared to early risers. New residents are supposed to be assigned a buddy for an orientation but that did not happen in our case. Overall it is a friendly building with beautiful views. We chose it based on it being closer to family than other options.
