The place is old. New remodel cannot erase age. Just one, tiny, very slow elevator. Dining room on top floor. Patience a must. Staff is caring and friendly. Residents same. Easygoing, comfortable atmosphere without a religious angle.

Our tour at Solstice Senior Living at Austin was good. The location was great. The director was very informative, very positive, and very helpful in making our decision. It didn’t fit for my sister due to her mobility issues and because of her dog. The backyard wasn't enclosed and was rough with tree roots, which would be hard to navigate with a walker. It was a much older unit and needed some upgrades. Also the sidewalks weren’t smooth anymore, with roots coming up under the surface. The dining room was on the second floor, and with only one very slow elevator, people were having to wait to get up there. Overall impression - there were some positives, but the mobility challenges were the biggest factor for us.

I enjoy activities and feel like I am adjusting well. I feel like I am fitting in. Some days are good, some days are bad. Currently the elevator needs serviced. We did have plenty notice of the servicing appointment. We were given time to make arrangements due to this.

I toured this community with my loved one and upon first impression, she did not want to go in. The yard was unkept with fallen branches and dead plants/flowers. The building was under renovation, which is a good thing, but it did add to the rugged outwardly appearance. We liked the community inside, but chose to go another route.

The staff members we have met are all friendly, and they have a set planned menu for the meals. We do think the value for cost is okay, it is a bit high but we never really shopped around before. However my wife and I when we come to visit have come to terms that when the time comes we would like to be in a place like this.
