If your loved one is independent this is not a good fit. The food is not very good and sometimes my mom goes without because she can't eat what they serve. In the past, the staff has not been as friendly as they should have. The price has been raised and we were told several things that would be done upfront but it was not. They have recently changed management and communication is better.

Meals can be the highlight of the day for people at this period in their lives. After two , month long visitation stays, as I reside out of state, I have found the food and service to be mediocre at best, at times painfully poor. I realize it is difficult for most to invest this time observing their loved ones living environment but I am sure for many like myself, unless Jesus walks through the door my parents are the most important people on the face of this earth.I am curious but there seem to be far to many five star ratings.

This is a larger nice looking community. The people we met were nice. This community does seem to offer a lot of nice amenities including a pool for the residents and their families to enjoy.

We're kind of new there and are still struggling to get settled in and fully transitioned. It seems like there's some things they could have done to make it a little easier. It would have been nice if they did a little more welcoming, showing her around the place, making her feel at home, etc. Otherwise though, the place is very clean and the staff is very friendly, there have just been a few small issues like those mentioned above.

They aren't really meeting our needs. They need to be a little more caring, as far as the staff is concerned. It seems like for them it's just a job. The food is good I would say a four and a half to a five. I feel like they sold more than they delivered. They really want you in the door.

Their level of services are diminishing – offering less and less services in their assisted living. It’s really now geared for someone who doesn’t get sick. They’ve cut back on a lot of services such as managing oxygen and insulin. You better hope you don’t get sick! It’s a shame.

The facility offered everything my parents wanted but not satisfied with the sales staff. After my parents put down a deposit and were verbally told things the staff later denied saying such things. My advice is to get everything in writing. I hope this was an isolated incident but don't know. They are still on a waiting list for an apartment and we hope something becomes available soon.

I’m a resident of Cherrywood Village and while I love my apartment and neighbors I think Generations ONLY real interest is their bottom line. In the past few months they got aground the Oregon law limiting how much they can raise the rent by imposing a $100 “surcharge” on rents. THEN they announced adding a 10% increase - which for many newer residents is $500 more a month. They also charge for take out containers and have increased all service fees for residents. In addition, despite resident requests and complaints the food is unhealthy: deep fried, breaded or battered and over sauced. I think if you’re going to keep charging residents more money at least food should be improved or some of that money should have gone into improving resident’s apartments and lives……but it is not. I cannot afford to remain here now and will be looking for a more resident friendly place to move to.

They are 'unofficially' affiliated with the 7th Day Adventist Church, and they try to keep you from finding it out when you tour the place. You learn about once you are already hooked on the beautiful accommodations, and they reel you in. It didn't bother me a lot in the beginning, but it got worse. I moved in to 'Paradise,' and it seemed that so many residents are either evangelical ministers, or are married to one, or are children of missionaries or ministers. That's fine; to each, his own. I knew the place was not for me and I moved out. I'm a very 'live and let live' kind of person. Others there might be the same, but it would take months and months to find other like minded people there. There wasn't any help from staff to be able to find other like minded people. There was such a majority of 'religious nuts' that I had to get out ASAP. It was a discouraging waste of time and money.

I was referred to them via a hospice chaplain. I was looking for an assisted space for my parents. They start out being kind and courteous and glowing. I got hit with needing to make a quick decision as they warned rents were going up the following day. So we took the apartment. From the get go the staff was unorganized and not helpful. We were hit right away with picky rules of the place being confronted in rude ways. To say the least the whole experience was totally unwelcoming. My mom needed to have someone give her her meds and they missed 2 days saying they had a glitch in their system. It took them a week and a half to get their TV's working with my brother spending hours and hours of his own time on the set up himself. Now we are stuck there and I hope there is some ray of hope at the end of this dark tunnel.

My husband was only at this community for a short period of time and honestly it did not go very well. They did not have enough staff and they never had the same person going to care for my husband so he was not comfortable with anyone. I would have to go in the early morning to care for him as well as the evening. It just was not the right fit for him and I ended up moving him back home.

When my dad needed extra care at night, the admin staff threatened to make my parents leave if we didn't hire a personal night caregiver, as they were understaffed. It is true that they were understaffed, and, unfortunately a lot of the caregiving staff were not trained in basic caregiving. When dad began requiring more day care as well, the staff again threatened to make my parents move and made life hard for them until we moved them to another assisted living facility. It was added stress for our family. It is probably a good place to live if you aren't going to need much help.
