I don't think that there is anything that is perfect or 100% but I would rate them pretty high. It's pretty clean, our apartments are cleaned once a week, a housekeeper comes in and dusts and vacuums and will change the linen on our bed and give us fresh towels and things. If you use their bed linens and their towels they do that but you have the option of having your own linens but you're responsible for taking care of them (I use theirs because I like someone making my bed for me!). The staff is very friendly, in fact, everybody here is very friendly. I had been living on my own for a number of years so it the experience of learning how to be in a community has been rather educational for me and its still an ongoing process. We have 3 meals a day, we have activities and if I don't want to be sociable that day I can stay in my room, but there are some I partake in and I do enjoy them.

We like it! The only thing I don't like as much is the food. I think the food could have more variety and sometimes the service in the dining isn't as good. That is feedback that I've gotten from my mom. Other than that, she loves it! They have a dining room, pool, gym, and even an auditorium. All that was so far beyond anything else we saw and the price was less. Their rooms were nicer too. The price is very reasonable especially for what they offer.

My parents lived here. My father weighs 240 lbs and it was taking 3 people to transfer him to the toilet and things that. The manager said that legally they couldn't have the third caregiver so my father has to leave. That's the only reason. My parents were very happy there and very stimulated. It was a good mix of people. The food wasn't great but the people there were entertained a lot.

I just had friend move her Mom there. Seems to like it. They just don't like the food much and getting meals not on time. Nice place I know everyone is having a hard time getting help these days. I do think they should get meals out better. My Mom is a diabetic.

The Paradise Valley Village has many good things going for it and a few rather bad, also. The architecture, construction, maintenance and management are excellent and a pleasure to live with, but, the food is way over-priced, weird and half the time so inedible it makes even Denny's look good. There seems to be a none working chef whose menue selections, layout and makeup are childish at best. The soups, salads, drinks are very good. Most buffets and maybe one meal per week are fine. The wait staff are very friendly and considerate. The $450/month food charge is unreasonable considering the above. Some residents are paying only $250??

My parents have lived here as independents but now they cannot do as much as they use too outside the facility. They are still very independent but now they rely on Cherrywood to provide activties for them and there are very little for them. Yes the calendar looks full but when you get do to it there is very little to do throughout the day. There are organized exercises for them but not too many other things. There is bible study, bells, band, chess, bridge, and pool but how many people know how to do these things at 84 and no one is there to help organize; you are on your own. Nothing at night except a prayer meeting or a movie. and very little to do on the weekends. This is when seniors need activities the most. they are losing their independents so now the retirement homes need to help provide things for them to socialize and be involved with at a level about assistant living but not completely independent. My hope is this company finds something for these residents. Something involving the floors, to get people involved. Unfortanately my parents are bored now and so I am looking for a facility that can address this need.

Things started off a little rocky and didn't turn out the way we had hoped but mom is doing fine there now. She has made some friends and is participating in social events and activities. The food has a lot of room to be improved. The staff is friendly and helpful very kind. The community is clean and well maintained.

My mother has recently made the move into this community and so far we are very pleased with how things are going for her. The staff have been accommodating to her needs and I am comfortable with the quality of care she is receiving. She has had no complaints about the meals and enjoys participating in some of the activities from time to time with the other residents.

Haven't been there long but so far things are great, had some issues with one employee, more of a personality thing. The food is great and overall client gets everything he needs and care is also very good.

Rating is based on my loved one's needs which may be more than facility is designed for? I could easily see all five stars if I moved her in 10 yrs ago but then why would we pay such high rent with a more independent family member? Thus it will never be the care that we want to provide our family members but in comparison to other facilities I think Somerset is probably among the best.

I chose this place for my aunt three years ago because at the time they said they were able to give her insulin injections should the time come that she needed them. Their certification changed in the meantime so that by the time my aunt did need injections, they were not able to give them and I had to move her. When she moved in it was brand new and pristine. I would say the biggest complaint my aunt had there was the quality of the food. It was a much larger facility so it was much more institutional and she grew up on the east coast so she was not used to a lot of the west coast flavorings and foods like avocados and Mexican flavors. The people at her table complained about the service in the dining room. The rest of it, I thought, was pretty good. As the years went on I was a little dismayed at the cleanliness upkeep, like cleaning the bathrooms and the carpets.

Facility is nice and clean. Food was good. My dad fell and had multiple transports from facility to hospital. I feel he could have been watched over better after 1st fall. I feel the cost of care is extreme but seems the industry standard.

The food was very good. My Dad really liked it. There were just not enough staff. Also, they got temporary staff... so when I would go to visit it was always different people. So, rooms were not kept clean. I did 95% of the upkeep. The care in general was not what we were lead to believe it would be. Again, this was due to the lack of staffing.

We chose Somerset Lodge because at the time when she needed to move they had availability. I visited and thought it looked good and it was also convenient to me. The room sizes here were fine, they do have 3 different ones to choose from. They accepted my mom under level 5 care, but they did not have enough staff to take care of her. She would ring the button and it would take forever to someone to come check on her so she would try to do things herself. We ended up moving her out.
