What stuck out to us about Arbor landing was the location, it was very close to our house so we could visit often when we were able to. The apartment sizes are great, she has a 1 bedroom in assisted living. I think it is a great facility and would definitely recommend.

My loved one was previously a resident at Arbor Landing at Hampstead and the overall experience was okay. The cleanliness, friendliness and staff were good. The meals were okay. My mom had a piece of jewelry that she never took off/always wore and it disappeared. No one at the facility really acknowledged it.

My loved one was previously a resident at Carteret Landing Assisted Living and Memory Care. They talk a good game, but don't live up to expectations! Very little activity, they were unable to produce an activity log which is required. My loved one's clothes were not washed individually as we were told they would be. As a result, clothes were missing all the time. The toiletries that we bought were excessive to what should have been needed. Carteret Landing is not a good facility for anyone that is active. My loved one went downhill quick at this facility. Two months later, at her new place, she is already a new person!

Facility is wonderful, staff is excellent, the only thing I'm concerned with is that when it's closing time for the check in desk person to leave they leave and anyone can walk into the facility....there should be someone there 24/7 to monitor. I suggest they get a cook or two who knows how to cook properly and gives proper portions. Since my mom has been in this facility they have gone through at least 4 different cooks. There are two separate feeding times for each meal and on the second feeding the residents are told when they say what they would like to eat that day they are told oh we ran out so they are offered something else. Overall the place is awesome. If they can just get the food issue resolved it'll be better than awesome! My mom is very happy there.

Food is horrible. Staffing has been an ongoing issue. We have complained almost since arriving and there has been no improvement. For people that have no other option, not good. Office personnel is not approachable, and it took months before my mother was acknowledged by name as a resident. We picked this community mainly because of the location and option for care services if needed.

My loved one `was there as soon as they were opened and had the room right next to the nurses station. Beautiful facility with great amenities, but I'd say the care was terrible. I put my loved one there to be watched over...again right next to the nurses station. Somehow they let my loved one fall twice in about 24 hours. The 2nd time my loved one broke their hip and it killed them. My loved one wasn't even in the community for 1 month.

The facility is extremely clean and all in all I am pleased with our experience. There is no head management on the weekends and that makes a huge difference, you are able to tell. Some staff go above and beyond and I would grade them much higher than a 5 and then some aren't very good. They have a calendar of activities that they are supposedly doing, I wish there were more activities for those who have early onset Alzheimer's to keep them busy.

On the surface it is a beautiful and well decorated building, but it has no sound insulation inside anywhere. My unit was gorgeous, but being on the first floor, anytime the people above me would run the shower, run the kitchen sink or flush the toilet I would hear it come down my bedroom wall and it sounded like it was going to break through and flood my apartment. The staff members were so friendly, and wonderful no complaints there. However the meals and dining service was horrible, the quality and portion sizes were just not adequate. Sometimes we would get half a PB&J for dinner. The activities director though is the hardest working employee there, she does an excellent job with everything she touches. She puts in more work then anybody there, it is like she works dawn to dusk. She does all of the decorating inside and outside of the community and puts all the beautiful fresh flowers in the flower pots.

I wasn't impressed overall with the community. Depending on what services you need, such as if you are able to be independent this is the place to be. If you need assistance this wouldn't be the place to be. The staff communication via email was very good.

I was not satisfied with this community. My loved one didn't get the assistance I feel she needed. The people didn't help her with things like her medication, feet propped up and when I came to get her, her ankles were swollen. There wasn't any basic furniture in the room. It was hard to find someone to assist us in getting the furniture. No tables or chairs in room. We finally were able to get the furniture, but it was a lot of complaining on my part. The director was called away, because her daughter was having a baby. This is the reason for all the confusion, per the community. The chain of command was lacking in my opinion.

My mom has been here only a week so still don't know if this is the right place for her. She has the start of dimentia and has already had a trip to the ER. We will determine if she needs a more skilled nursing facility in the next month or so.

Not the facility you want if your loved one is exhibiting signs of aggression. They are not trained to deal with aggressive patients. The food is mostly prepackaged proteins and lunches were only a typical cold cut sandwich. No real options for low sodium diets.

Mom came to AR in [date removed] knowing that soon she would need more care. We took the tour & were told that they were equipped to handle the transition. About 2 months in mom suffered a minor stroke, was hospitalized, followed by rehab to regain strength. As the time neared for her to return home, we called AR & said that we believed it was time to move mom to Assisted Living. Fortunately they had a bed on that side & we were happy. Nurse evaluated & said mom would fall between level 2 & 3 for care. She was assigned a room & all was well. On moving day as we had finished bringing mom's things from her old unit to her new assisted living unit, we were pulled aside by management & told quite abruptly that they did not feel that mom should stay. They listed a few "issues" they saw. All listed under their levels of care. No discussion, no compassion. Turns out, they simply aren't properly staffed for assisted living. Terrible bait & switch & extremely stressful when support was needed most

Terrible experience! I'd give zero stars if I could. We moved my mother into independent living with the idea she would move to assisted living when needed. This was CLEARLY communicated when we signed the papers. About a month in my mother needed to move into AL and was evaluated by their nurse who recommended a Level 2 care (not the highest level) and assigned a unit. We arrived at Arbor Ridge and moved all of my mother's belongings out of her independent living studio into her new AL unit. As we were done moving her things, they informed us she couldn't be there. Their website states: " Rather than hopscotching from one senior living community to another as your loved one’s needs change, Arbor Ridge is bringing three distinct and affordable lifestyle options under one roof. " Not true. My mother was forced out because they can't provide care that they advertise in their own marketing materials. Management was rude, unprofessional, cruel and uncaring.

If you are considering Horizons Memory Care at Arbor Landing Hampstead, NC for your loved one PLEASE READ. Horizons kicked my mom out, who was under hospice care, because she could not stand, pivot, or assist with a transfer. She was in such bad shape the only place that would take her was a nursing home 1 hour away from the closest relative. She died 16 days later. We were told numerous times this is an “age in place facility and she could stay there until the end of life.” This was a lie. Horizons is a one person assist facility with no equipment to move people who forget how to walk or are in such bad shape they can’t. Their on-call nurse can come in anytime and deem “their care level has changed” and kick them out. They are also protected by NC laws. Many memory care facilities have two person assist and have the equipment and desire to help Alzheimer’s residents all the way through to the end. Moving mom was hard on her and contributed to her quick decline and death. Shameful.
