The Rehab section has a serious MOLD problem. There are carpets everywhere and they are full of dirt, mold and human bodily fluids. They even let a cat run free into all the rooms, so if you are allergic too bad. When the aid pulled out my mothers bed pan part of it spilled on the floor into the carpet. Oh well,... no really way to clean that up. It will just add to the smell. Medicare and others gave it a FIVE star. But they don't rate sanitation. So just imagine your loved one living there for weeks or months breathing in that terrible air.

We moved my dad here from Englewood hospital as recommended by his hospital doctor for continuity of care. He happened to be the doctor there too. It was so hard to get anything done! We tried to get bandages for leg wounds, and some removed that he came in with for over a week with daily reassurance that it would be done each day we’d go home. No bath or shower for more than a week either, so we paid his in home caregiver to help. When she was there the male assistant assigned to his room, slacked even more while she helped with other clients in need. They lost dad one day and later found him in the woods. No one had any idea how long he was gone! He was stuck in the bushes. Upon my arrival he was asleep on top of his bed with bruises and burrs all over his clothing. If this is the number 1, in Venice where do we place family members. There were a few shining stars that were most compassionate and dedicated. They seemed to work long hours and addressed the clients by name. The activities center, and the therapy department were also quite good. We had to ask for a planning conference when we heard he might be released. Thanks to those that were most caring and compassionate.

I think the rating system is unfair. See my video "Medicare.gov - Is Your Nursing Home Clean?", and I will show you what I mean. I show examples of this place and why it should not be rated Five Stars. The people are great and food is good. Just not clean.

There was no coverage at night in the assisted living for that reason I would never leave my loved one there again. It was not safe. During the day it was fine evening hours there were no coverage I don't care if they tell you differently.

This is a poorly run facility. They had minimal medical staff to help with daily medications. There is one nurse for the entire facility. The staff is dishonest and very misleading about everything. They say they have checked on your loved one, only to find that they have been ignored and physically and mentally abused. There is almost no personal care although they assure such great personal attention. They are all dishonest and will lie about everything in order to get paid. They promise they can take care of disabled loved ones, and yet they leave them alone for half a day with dirty diapers and no shower. Do not send your loved one to Harbor Chase. Our father suffered and died from their neglect, which they will never admit.

This place is the worst. All the time they should spend looking at what actually goes on there and fixing the many many problems is instead spent generating a good (but strictly fabricated) reputation to suck people into assisted living (where they have the opportunity to pay an exorbitant amount of money to be neglected while surrounded by tacky decor) and sweeping terrible decisions under the perpetually urine-soaked carpeting. Some of the staff are lovely, as some people are everywhere, but the reality of many of the people making the decisions is aggressively promising the world until you sign paperwork, and then aggressively ignoring your calls and loved one until one or both of you gives up and, when you do reach them, lying about what they did or will do to improve anything. It's burdensomely complicated to move out (unless/until you're running out of money), the communication is atrocious and the day room is composed of people slumped in uncomfortable wheelchairs and wet diapers while some poor girl answers the phones claiming that this is a place where they celebrate senior living. It surely seems more like they're celebrating the money to be made on senior death and debility. I wish we'd never heard of Harborchase, my mother could have sat at home in wet britches being ignored by their staff there for free, instead of paying all she had for nothing and being booted out right before she ran out of money.

The worst thing is that my friend had diarrhea and they did not give her a shower or clean things up for five days. I brought it to their attention, it happened on a Thursday and they did not get someone in there to clean until Monday. My friend is blind and could not help herself. She has rung her buzzer and no one come. She fell in the elevator and no one came for hours. The activities are getting better.

My Grandmother was a resident. Every day there were major issues. She was given medication to keep her sedated. While there were some staff members that were great, sometimes It took forever for call button response. Do not leave your loved ones at this place.

Terrible. I drove 12 hours to remove my mom. Had to wet bed no food or meds for 14 hours. Reason for these things happening was temps used on weekend.

We "kids" chose Harbor Chase for our then 95 year old Mom mainly because they promised us that, when the time came that mom either needed the next level of care OR at such time that her money ran low and we transitioned to Medicare that they would have a bed for her. They flat-out LIED to us. When at 97, with her funds running low we had to apply for Medicaid/Medicare for her Harbor Chase suddenly didn't have a bed for her and would not even put her on a waiting list. At 97, we had to move her out and into a new residence. She suffers from macular degeneration and really struggles with a change of venue. The manager Mike is totally useless, and at his own admission is nothing but a figure-head with a title. He did admit to me that Harbor Chase's greed was the reason mom was getting booted out. Now, not everyone at The Harbor is bad. The activities director is awesome and caring. You only get one chance to get it right for your mom. Don't choose Harbor Chase!

My mother was in Harbor Chase for six months; She suffers form dementia. H.C. was paid an additional $125.00 per month for a ankle monitor to prevent her from escaping / getting lost. H.C. had to call the police twice in six months as Mom went missing only to find her miles away; both incidents were brought to the attention of H.C. by my wife and I as staff had no idea she was missing, one time required a Hospital E.R. visit due to a fall injury while out wandering the streets. The place is dirty, understaffed, and serve disgusting meals to folks unable to complain. RUN from this place.
