This place is HORRIBLE. Dirty, hallways strong urine it for often, bathrooms old dirty, laundry terrible, no one cleans windows. Landscape No gardener. Residents complain to directors, worst each year. I know by experience this is the TRUTH.

The clean facility maybe five star but the care given is substandard lights are on forever before anyone responds. The therapy dept the actual workers do a great job the head of them and the social worker are all talk and chart things untrue to pass things off with medicare etc. they are not for the patient its about money and keep that five star unearned rating.. If your loved one will depend on them find another place....

My Mother and Dad have been at Brookdale for three weeks and we have had different negative problems. My Mother was put to bed in her dirty street clothes and not feed dinner when she is a diabetic, this has happened twice . I entered her room and it smelled horrible because a dirty Depends with diarrhea was just left in the bathroom waste basket by a CNA. I have called numerous times to check up on my Mother with no return phone calls. Once I noticed that my Mother had a UTI and called to report it to the floor nurse and I was told that the last time I told them this she did not have one and two weeks later her occupational nurse called to tell me that she thought my Mother had a UTI - So this took them two weeks to get her medication for it. I have taken my Mother to her Neurologist two weeks ago for her Parkinsons and she still does not have any medication for it yet. I have been there when she is not feeling well and pushed her necklace call button and when no one showed up for 10 minutes I had to go to another floor to find a CNA to help her . One evening when I was asking the front desk for help with concerns - leaving a message for a Nurse a restaurant employee came up and asked for the T.V. remote to turn up the sound for a couple watching a movie and she yelled at him in front of me saying she can wait she is so demanding.

A Bad experience for my poor mom. From the first two weeks. Any complaints all you hear is ok will take care of it. My mom lived there 7 months. I should have seen how she changed not even eating she just died lookilooking like she weighed less then 60 lbs. Hate that place I could still have my mom.

My mom lived there for almost 7 months. When we first went there my mom liked it they showed us a single room which was just a nice fixed up room just for show. My mom shared a room they told us her room mate was a nice person. The dining area was nice and clean said they had a bingo game room things for them to do. Her roommate was not at all nice she would [Removed] and leave her dirty [Removed] underwear in the bathroom. She was in a wheelchair I seen her in her wheelchair trying to get in the restroom. I asked her roommate you need help she was crying saying I pushed my alert button for close to an hour I knew it was true cause I was visiting my mom through that time. They had to transfer my poor mom three times to different rooms. When I complained about how my mom was mistreated by roommate all they said was will take care of it. Her last roommate was big compared to my mom only 4'10 my mom was say I'm scared to be here she makes me turn off my tv or tells me I have to take some of my stuff back home cause there's no room. My mom paid a lot of money to have a room where she had her bed and only about 4 feet her dresser. Her roommate had the rest of the room. My beautiful mom was 92 she was there 7 months. Every time I would look at her I seen her getting thinner and thinner. I visit her her at least 3 times a week to take her food cause she complain how nasty there food was sometimes ok. Sad but my mom died there. They said staff turned there back on her for a second and she feel. Her roomate said she seen it all staff lost there grip and that was how she fell. She had a stroke the next day and passed 4 days later. If you love your parents be sure you know where you place them. For the rest of my life I will regret having her there. Just because a place looks nice doest mean they will be treated right.. It's all about the money.... The best thing to do is ask other seniors you see how they like Whittier Glen. And I was [Removed] because A tenant told me before we signed the paperwork it's awful and the food is nasty. I should of listened. But the director was so sweet telling us how nice And friendly the people were and how delicious the food was. Anybody rating it a five must not visit there loved ones often

I just did not feel comfortable with the whole thing here. The place was old and out dated and there were no private rooms, they had 4 residents per room. This was not the place for my mother.

Look at the details check the actual meals see how often they shower your love one in our case they didn't .Changing bed sheets just didn't happen cleaning the room and laundry services are a joke.Look elsewhere for quality care!

I don't even know where to begin with this. My Mom has lived here for almost 4 years and it has been one problem after the other. She has frequently gone over a week without a shower, sat in the dining room for 30 minutes without being acknowledged, had her medication just left out in the open by the staff, and waited upwards of 45 minutes for a response when she fell. When I spoke with the nurse about all this, I got a lot of lies from her as well as her trying to convince me that my Mom is wrong and most likely senile. With all the issues my Mom has (paralyzed on one side, a little slow mobility) the one thing she is NOT is senile. She has all her mental capacities in place. The care staff here really just does not care about resident care at all. Now, there are a few far and between that seem to care, but they aren't around for very long as they see what is going on and go work elsewhere. I have filed formal complaints with the company that owns this facility and supposedly things were supposed to get better. Nope. They have not. I am currently looking for somewhere else to move my Mom to. This is an honest review and I just want to save someone else from having to go through what our family has gone through in dealing with this facility.

Very dirty, rude staff.

I am not at all sure where the high ratings came from, but my sister and I visited there seeking a place for our parents. The smell that hit us as we walked in the front door was horrendous. The office staff hardly acknowledged our presence, and when we finally were taken for a quick tour, we found the place to be drab and incredibly depressing.

This is not a place for senior living this is a nursing home for seniors dying. The majority of the seniors have Alzheimer's or dentist and are allowed to roam freely about, and hurt other residents. The Alzheimer's seniors have roamed into my dear friends room on numerous occasions and each time it has been requested that they not be allowed to do so, the staff has said we can't control that. There was no AC for two days presently and my dear friend has been sitting in 95 degree heat. She was given a fan today and we were told they did not know when it would be fixed. I wouldn't put my worse enemy in this home.

One of my parents lived there for almost 4 years. I do have to say when they first moved in things were great. The food was good and a large selection was provided. The breakfast and lunch were free. Then they first started by charging for breakfast. Then the lunch soup and salad bar were removed and they had to start paying extra for that too. The food choice went from beef and chicken to chicken and chicken. Not quite that bad but there were hardly any beef dishes offered any more and the quality had gone way down too. The housekeeping staff is nice and seem to have stabilized. For a while they were rotating or getting rid of people. The dining room is way understaffed. They sometimes have the dishwasher serving meals. It just seems like the new owners only care about the big almighty buck. And who is going to pay for the work on the outside of the building and the driveway when this is completed. The poor patrons?

If you are looking for quality care for your loved one and respect from staff and management, DO NOT go here!!

My mom has been living here for about 18 months. At first it was all good, then a new company bought the place and turned it into a cash cow. No consideration for the residents who are treated like livestock. Mooo! The food sucks.. I know the new owners wouldn't feed it to their dogs. The staff has been cut to the bare bones. My mother often waits for an hour or more to get help going to the bathroom. When they don't come and help she uses her diaper and then they are pissed because they have to change that. The tissue is the cheapest on the planet. Like sandpapaer again, would the new owners give this cheap crap to their family? No!! I would advise anyone looking for a care facility for a loved one to go anyplace but here. At [removed] a month, anyplace would be better than this greedy corporate run facility.

When I found this place, 3 yrs ago, it was the perfect place for my dad. We were about to lose mom to Alzheimer's & I wanted him to be safe & healthy. He was 89 then & caring for mom took a huge toll on him. He wasn't a very good cook, so he had begun to lose weight. We went on a tour of the apartments & even ate lunch there. The food was excellent. So, first chance we got, dad moved in. He was so happy then. He even gained some weight. I was so happy dad was happy. Then, it was bought out... EVERYTHING CHANGED. They IMMEDIATELY raised the rent & cost of meals. Then, they cut out most of the food services. The breakfast that used to be free, was now being charged. Even coffee. They got rid of the chef & the meal choices. These poor people are stuck with horrible food. FOOD IS A MAJOR ENJOYMENT FOR SENIORS!! I have eaten here, on & off, for 3 yrs. The food is SO BAD, I wouldn't serve it to an animal. (if you go to a restaurant & don't eat, you don't pay. These people PAY when they ORDER. If they don't eat, too bad. They still pay for it) Dad has gone from [removed] ALSO... the water smells like RAW SEWAGE! Out of the tap. Out of the shower. EVERYWHERE! There is sewer smell everywhere! It made me throw up! The residents are told there is nothing that can be done about it. I have written to the Ensign Group (the listed owners) and have not gotten any response. I have also written to the staff of the Citadel. Again, no response. When the residents complain, they're treated like little children. They are condescending & rude. They know these people don't want the hassle of moving out. They won't even address or fix a simple thing like little or no outside lighting. They really should be ashamed of themselves. The only thing that will wake these people up, is if people move out or don't go there at all.

They were financially ripping me off all the time. They left her in diapers and let her lay. Every time I talked to them, they’d tell me something untrue. This was not a good place for my loved one. She’s doing much, much better at the new community where I moved her to.

I would never ever take any family member or loved one to this place. The staff is very unfriendly and unprofessional. I caught one of the workers with alcohol on her breath. Several items of clothing had went missing. There is a lot of nepotism. The head nurse seemed to want to intimidate my mom.

There is only one L.P.N. to take care of all the people, and on the weekend she was not there so there was nobody supervising the medication distribution by the caregivers. Their food was very delicious, and the place was nice. It was jolly, but there was not enough help. My dad would stand at the door hollering for people and they did not come. Nobody would come check on them if they didn't come out of their rooms.

My Mother went into Inwood Crossing this year. She walked in on her on, using the bathroom on her on, talking and eating herself. 47 days later being in Inwood Crossing she could do none of these things. We were called saying she had a bladder infection (which they call everything that) took her to the emergency room with head injuries and bruises all over her body. Some bladder infection. The day she went to the emergency room so could no longer walk on her on, talk, eat for herself or go to the bathroom on her on. We had to place her in a nursing home, and she died 48 days later. All but a few employees stayed after this incident. (They scattered like roaches) They will tell you how beautiful this place is. (It is not really, go see for yourself) They lock residents in their room. They have little if any supervision. If you can keep your loved one in your home. You love them, they do not. It is a job that they get very little pay. I would never place any person in any Meridian Facility. Unless you move in with them. When you question them, they do a quick cover up. I could go on and on. REPEAT stay away from any Meridian Facility. You are just making them rich. That is the name of the game for this Company. I wish I had of had 20/20 vision. We would still have are Mother. Question to this Facility - HOW WOULD YOU WANT YOUR PARENT TREATED. NOT WHAT YOU DID TO MY MOTHER.
