I wasn't please about this place at all. The moment I walked in there I felt it wasn't right no residents was around only a few residents. The concierge lady was on her phone was unprofessional to me very dry greeting as well. No activities was being done I came around 1 pm. Some staff was polite in speaking but not many.

It seems the norm for any of these facilities to charge an enormous price for "services" rendered. If I had POA, my family would not be in any of these. Young, minimum wage type care by aids is expected and provided. They woke my family member up at 5am, 5am! to take a yearly blood draw for general health ordered by his doctor. Already being confused, and questioning why he is there, this was absolutely uncalled for! Nothing was said to anyone about this either. He could have been taken to doctor for this anytime, but no, 5am made sense to them. Sing along consists of handing out flyers with words, playing casette recorder, one song after the other, with little or no interaction between. Maybe I expect too much with the sales pitch given.

My family I & chose Fairmont to care for my father. It was not a good choice. His room was usually dirty & messy. His feet would be black from the floors. I brought my own mop to keep in his room. The food did not look appetizing, and I know my dad did not care for it. Unfortunately, that was not the worst part of our experience. Every time we came to visit, aids were sitting around on their phones. No one would even acknowledge us when we came to visit. My dad declined immediately after moving in. After a couple of weeks, he started falling a lot & had continued to decline rapidly. He had 2 ER visits in one week. At the 1st ER visit we were told that he was dehydrated, but the home refused to do anything about that & asked us to remove him within 6 days. He never recovered after the 2nd ER visit. He was so dehydrated that his kidneys failed. He passed away after 3 days in the hospital. No one from the home has ever called us to check out n him. He was only there 3 weeks.

He was going down in a wheel chair eating in dining room when he went in Within a week they weren't bothering to get him up because he was a big guy. Not fat but 6'2 then charged us $3 a meal to take him food. Sent him to wrong hospital and to make it worse sent wrong persons insurance numbers w him when I got letter from hospital it was a commercial insurance. First week he was there and he could nt get out of bed his new phone disappeared bought him another w long heavy duty cord cord disappeared we had wipes delivered they arrived after he left they never noticed us just kept them they sell themselves and manor is beautiful but care is very very poor. Recommend if completely mobile- if they aren't completely mobile do not recommend as those patience get poor care and very careless w records and meds

We toured Fairmont of Farmington Hills and it was pretty on the outside, but just not good on the inside. The facility was rundown and the dining hall had an odd smell. Certainly a hard pass for us, we decided to keep on with our search.

I would recommend you don't place your loved one here. There is lack of training for the staff. The aides treat the residents as if they don't care. It comes across that the aides only care about themselves. The staff communication with the family is horrible. The Executive Director even blew me off when the family tried to discuss things with the them. There was a time they stated I said something, and I didn't and I had to question that.

The exterior of the community is very clean, however when it came to the house keeping for our loved ones room that was very poor. Brighton Gardens was great before the pandemic, but once the pandemic hit they completely isolated everyone including our loved one to their apartment. This had caused his health to decline, and months later they called us to say they were starting to do psych testing and that he needed to be moved to memory care. We did not agree due to the recent isolation and asked if they were any physical or mental changes and they said no. When we moved him out his apartment was a mess, the bathroom was filthy and the toilet water was grey. They also gave us his medication in a garbage bag.

First off, my grandfather picked up c-differential in this facility recently. Please look this up if you are considering entrusting your loved one to this care facility. It can eat through the walls of intestines. This facility is kicking my grandfather out on December 26th (merry Christmas!). They sent the letter to the home he owns, knowing he lives at their facility. He has advanced alzheimer's and lives in a constant state of fear, pain and agitation, none of which have they bothered to treat. Instead they are throwing him out for being EXACTLY the way was described when placed there (he is now violent, verbally abusive and dangerous). He left a lower care facility (was forced out) BECAUSE he had higher care needs. He was kind, noble, sweet, soft spoken and generous before this disease started slowly killing him. He deserves better, and so do your loved ones.

Ugh! Depressing. We both felt 'not for us.' Karen got more and more depressed as the tour progressed. Expensive rent for tiny rooms -- assistance added on top. 3 meals a day, plus snax, etc. part of rent. Not affordable for us. Few men in evidence.

Our family had such a bad experience with Sunrise, our loved one did not stay longer than a month there before we pulled them out. They did not have any of our loved ones information, they had no care plan, and they did not even know their birthday. We are not difficult people but it was horrible. When our loved one had to go to the hospital they didn't even call the right family member. We also had many billing problems, it was such a shame.

Do your due diligence, we were looking for a place for respite care for a month and it clearly did not work out. Looking back I wish I would have asked more questions. Overall it was a bad experience. If you need respite care, do not go here.

My father entered Brighton in April 2019 on a respite basis. We were told about their $2,000 referral credit special as an enticement to move in. Once he was in and we got our first bill, we asked about the credit. We were told it was only available to permanent residents (info conveniently withheld when we moved him in). My father ended up staying through September 2019. In July we were told that my father automatically became a permanent resident 30 days after move in. There is a $1500 move-in fee for permanent residents and they decided to charge us. We asked for the $2,000 credit but were told that we would only be getting the July referral promo credit which was sadly reduced to $1,000. We explained that the May credit was $2,000 and we requested it back then several times but were denied it. They refused to give us the other $1,000. Upon telling them we were leaving and serving out our 30 day notice, they failed to shower my father for almost two full weeks. My father begged for a shower and finally asked for my intervention. I called and demanded a shower that day but it still took three more days before he got one. Meanwhile a rash he had worsened. He was humiliated having to go down to the dining room and sit at tables with others while he smelled badly (he has issues with both urinary and mild fecal incontinence sometimes), and looking unkempt. He skipped several meals because he was embarrassed. When I called the director, [name removed], about this and asked that we be credited on the final bill for showering services and some meals, and I recorded the call, he apologized and said that he would find a way to reduce the final bill. He also said he'd look into the referral bait-and-switch. He told me he'd call me in a few days. Thereafter he failed to return my phone calls and emails. I've been getting bills with late fees attached as I await a promised adjustment that is never going to come. Even when I told him I was reporting him to various agencies etc. he didn't care. Run from this place! There are so many other facilities to choose from. We had a terrible experience here with more than just the director. The care coordinator, [name removed], is awful. In six months there we never had a single meeting about my dad's care. She canceled the only one we did have and never rescheduled. She knew about my dad not having a shower and still took days to get him one. I could go on and on. Just take your loved one somewhere else.

Poor care of our loved one. No experience in taking care of memory care patients. We moved our family member to a new place because of the way things were handled many times. So many excuses and reasons for problems. The day the police were called on our family member was unforgivable. We removed him immediately and found new care for him. He is doing wonderful in a new home. The staff are so loving and know how to help memory care patients. Brighton gardens is a very sad place for your loved one
