They have been doing well. It's clean, and the staff is friendly. It's a tough transition. The one thing we don't like is that people will wander into her room. If she doesn't keep her door locked, people could walk in anytime.

Food quality is generally pretty low. Most meats are vastly overcooked. Meals are mostly very bland, sometimes frozen factory made (crab cakes). Response time to call button varies wildly sometimes as long as 2.5 HOURS! Versus promised average response time of 6 minutes. Caregivers are generally very good. Facility is kept clean. Not the cheapest price-wise (>$7200/month).

disappointed

The place is lovely. The staff is caring, but not necessarily attentive and the communication was terrible. Unfortunately, our experience was very short-lived. However, the quick demise of my parent while a resident was due in part to a lack of attention to a few important details. It really may have been more that this was not the fit for my mom in her condition at the time. I think the persons in charge of evaluating my mom prior to accepting her were more interested in obtaining a new paying resident than honestly believing this was a good fit for her.

It's better than skilled nursing yet still ranks below average care

My parent has lived at Fairmont two years. Over the past several months, I was repeatedly advised by management to move my parent from level 3 care to a higher level of care, ie, memory care. I felt all along that this move was for the staff's benefit not for my parent's. It's been over two weeks in memory care where I was promised more hands on attention and it's no better and possibly worse (time will tell) than the lower level of care. I have been told a dozen times that caretakers do not check on residents when family is visiting. This makes no sense. They should be helping me see the type of care we are paying for instead of avoiding me. It pains me that this is the best we can do, But it truly is. Sadly skilled nursing is worse.

False Presentation: Don.t judge the book by is cover--It can be deceiving

In the beginning the service was great. Staff was pleasant and attentive. Oh! but as soon as the honey moon period was over. The staff's true colors began to surface. As a result there has been an noticeable decline in my mother care, however within the past four weeks her care drastically took a nose dive downward. There is a lack of activities and specialized program provided on the memory care unit. The meals served on the memory care are terrible, unattractive/unappealing and unfulfilling. As a result I had to supplement her meals by bring food for her. "BETRAYED"

Beware

At first, the community was clean and so was her room, as time went on the cleanliness went downhill. The communication from the community was not good at all and I was not getting basic info sent to me. We had billing issues with the community also.

we were asked to wait in a small entryway. there were boxes stacked in this area limiting egress into the building. there was also a bad smell. the person we were scheduled to meet with handed us off to an assistant it was a quick tour of two rooms and a packet of information to take home. not at all like the mutual sharing of information we have experienced at other communities.

Imagine a senior living environment that has ice on the asphalt parking lot. I was visiting and had to assist someone with a cane getting out of their car. That person was trapped by the ice. Imagine a senior living environment that has one handicapped van and one driver to assist with doctor and medically based appointments...now imagine what happen when that van breaks down or the driver is not available (there used to be 2 vans and 2 drivers). Image a staff that seems dedicated, but where management under pays and under staffs the facility. That's Montecito Santa Fe!

EXPECTED

It seems the norm for any of these facilities to charge an enormous price for "services" rendered. If I had POA, my family would not be in any of these. Young, minimum wage type care by aids is expected and provided. They woke my family member up at 5am, 5am! to take a yearly blood draw for general health ordered by his doctor. Already being confused, and questioning why he is there, this was absolutely uncalled for! Nothing was said to anyone about this either. He could have been taken to doctor for this anytime, but no, 5am made sense to them. Sing along consists of handing out flyers with words, playing casette recorder, one song after the other, with little or no interaction between. Maybe I expect too much with the sales pitch given.

Would not recommend

My family I & chose Fairmont to care for my father. It was not a good choice. His room was usually dirty & messy. His feet would be black from the floors. I brought my own mop to keep in his room. The food did not look appetizing, and I know my dad did not care for it. Unfortunately, that was not the worst part of our experience. Every time we came to visit, aids were sitting around on their phones. No one would even acknowledge us when we came to visit. My dad declined immediately after moving in. After a couple of weeks, he started falling a lot & had continued to decline rapidly. He had 2 ER visits in one week. At the 1st ER visit we were told that he was dehydrated, but the home refused to do anything about that & asked us to remove him within 6 days. He never recovered after the 2nd ER visit. He was so dehydrated that his kidneys failed. He passed away after 3 days in the hospital. No one from the home has ever called us to check out n him. He was only there 3 weeks.
