Heritage Retirement Communities

When we toured this facility, we found that it was fairly okay. The people were very nice, but the building looked a bit dated and old. Another concern that we had was the fact that they segregate residents based on level of Alzheimer's, so my mother would have had to constantly change rooms if she were to reside here.

I am a former resident of the facility which dropped from a 4.5 to a 2.5 of 5 on it's best day Staff has dropped from excellent, caring, professionals to only a few of the same. They dropped night shift to ONLY aides. Of the 3 former ways for residents to call for help, none were left active. The food quality dropped from an easy 4 minimum to consistently under 3. Breakfast dropped from a decent size meal after a LONG fast. One day, the largest meal of the day, lunch, was two thirds of a bowl of vegetables, noodles, chicken broth with one measly little bite of chicken. Nothing else, not even crackers. Dinner adequate but gone the quality. Lots of casseroles which didn't bother me as it did others. All things changed, none for the better. Nothing from 7 PM until 8:30 AM. Never any snacks unless you could literally beg someone to search the kitchen. I was told that some kitchen staff are well and other foods just disappeared. Part 1 of 2

There have been a lot of problems... many things going missing...medication not administered properly...not able to accommodate dietary needs...rooms not cleaned.......Now that there is new ownership / management, things are starting to improve... Hopefully it will continue to get better.

Run down and seemed unfriendly. They questioned my relative's use of a wheelchair, so I assume it is not wheelchair friendly. Did not invite me to try the food, even though it was lunch time. Pressured me to consider an Alzheimer's facility in Solon, WITHOUT bothering to meet my relative or evaluate her!

The staff were not qualified and often rude. They spent most of their time on the phone. Room never cleaned, linens never changed. Made multiple medication errors with my mother and when brought to their attention they didn't care. My mom had Covid when she was there. They did not follow any protocol for Covid and staff were not informed of the situation. They also did not give my mom paxlovid as prescribed. It was a terrible experience.

They need new management. The place is terribly managed. We liked the idea of the villas, and it sounded like a great place. After a few weeks, my loved ones linen on the bed was never changed, the food was often frozen, and was never a homecooked meal. The staff lacked training, and were unproffesional with how they dressed, and interacted. In addition, my loved one was not getting their medication. There was a staff member who was extremely rude, and lacked respect.

The concept of the villas is a great idea, providing a small home-like environment with no more than 12 residents per villa. We thought it would be perfect for our mother and moved her there in September. It was okay for the first two weeks but then we began to have concerns about her care. Linens on the bed were to be changed each week and that never happened. The room was rarely cleaned and the food was not good - mainly frozen food or cold sandwiches. However, these are minor issues compared to our main concern which was safety. The staff are aids with little to no training. While some are fairly good, many created an unsafe environment. They are to give medications to the residents but there were numerous medications errors for my mother. One aid played rap music while working and ignored the residents. Residents were left alone for at least an hour when the day shift aid was late but the night shift just left. These are only a few of the issues.

When our family member was diagnosed with Dementia 2 years ago, Heritage Villas was all she could afford. At that time it was clean and seemed to be a good match for her. But over the past 2 years it’s deteriorated quite a bit. When she refused to change her clothes or bathe, they said it was her right. It was apparent to us that they didn’t know how to help her. Her room was no longer being cleaned. She didn’t change her clothes at night and slept on top of her bedspread. We eventually moved her to another facility where she’s doing much better.
