Heritage Retirement Communities

I had to select an assisted living facility this summer for my 98 year old grandmother. I live out of state and needed to find a facility that I felt I could trust and that provided top notch services to their residents. After touring many different area facilities, I decided on The Fountains. My decision was very easy after I met Ivy [removed] - Sr. Living Consultant. From the first moment I met her I could sense her compassion and I could see her connection with the all of the residents. Her candid view on senior living coupled with her sense of humor and full-of-life energy sold me! The facility was also very clean and cheery. Staff was very friendly and the facility is not overwhelming. In fact, it provides a more intimate atmosphere than other facilities I toured. The apartments are spacious, beautiful and well appointed. Living out-of-state creates quite a bit of angst but experiencing the unrelenting support that I have received from Ivy and team has given me peace of mind that I could never have imagined. I am so grateful to her and I would not hesitate to recommend The Fountains to anyone else looking for the right place for their loved one. ?

The cleanliness at Kindred is great. When ever I am there the building is always clean. All the employees are very friendly . They always speak to people when they are walking thru the building. The nurses at Kindred are excellent. They always make sure the residents get there medicine and will go to there room if necessary to give out medicine. The food service area is also excellent. The food is very good. They will also take up food to residents if they can not come down and also call up to the room or go to the room and remind them to go down for there meal.

My husband and I have been searching for an assisted living facility for his mother. We decided to stop and tour Heritage Villas on our way to take care of some other errands. We stopped by, unannounced and we were promptly met at the door by a sweet woman, Peggy. Peggy happened to be a caregiver. She immediately notified someone that we were in the building. We were then introduced to Lisa and Theresa. Lisa introduced herself and invited both of us to a conference room to discuss our needs. Peggy got us both a cup of hot coffee! We really felt at home! We spent some time with Lisa learning about the facility. She was then offered us a tour of the facility. We were so impressed by the professionalism of everyone we encountered. We really enjoyed speaking with each caregiver in the house. After touring, we returned to the conference room and went over a few additional questions that my husband had. Theresa, the social worker, also dropped in and ask what we thought of the place. We were so pleased! We felt really positive after leaving and look forward to bringing mom to tour!

My husband and I moved into Heritage Villas in May 2014. The facility is exactly what we were hoping would be the next chapter in our life. We wanted a home like atmosphere and a place that we would both enjoy and could call our home. Our suite is certainly spacious and just what we both envisioned. All of our meals are prepared for us, laundry service is provided and the housekeeping is taken care of! The activities are great too! We have many opportunities to participate in numerous activities both on campus and off campus. This Autumn we went on an outing to view the changing leaves and it was absolutely wonderful. We've also gone out to dinner and to several musicals. There is always a full activities calendar for us to choose what we'd like to do! The Staff is extremely attentive and treat all of us with respect and dignity. The workers here are much more like family than co-workers. We are so glad we moved in! The only thing we wish is that we would have moved in sooner! My husband and I recommend Heritage Villas to everyone we know!

I visited and loved the facility.

My aunt is in the memory care unit at The Belvedere. She is comfortable and well taken care of. Every time I come to see her she is clean and well dressed. She fits in with the community and is kept active with the activity programs that they have in place. We are very happy with the services that she is receiving.

My mom seems to be doing really well in this community since she moved in. She has tried some activities and gone to some outings and it was good. We have had a positive experience. The meals and dining services seem to go good, my mom does not have a complaint. I like the staff and it is positive and they care about my mom and the other residents. They were available when we needed to move.

Everything is going pretty well for my parent since their move to this community. It is a nice place, and they do a good job with the cleanliness of the facility. The staff is good, they are very caring, loving, and supportive. There are activities offered, and they do encourage the residents to participate. The meals are well balanced, and they do accommodate special diets. I know they are safe and being cared for very well. This is a community I would recommend.

What a lovely place for my mom! I feel comfortable that she is in good, professional and friendly hands!

I would recommend to others. My mom is happy there and that was my main concern. She is not a particular person and the facility meets her needs. We were attracted to them because of the price point.

The nursing staff were very friendly and considerate. Kept especially crystal the nurse. Hospice team was super supportive

floor care is becoming scarce. no activities as far as I'm aware of. When my sister first came back in December of 2022 there were nurses and aids running around everywhere but they're very scarce now…1 nurse and 1 aid now. I know there have been changes but why and what happened?

My mother is getting very good care from the aids in her villa. The aids are caring, helpful, friendly and a delight to deal with. Stay in touch with them for any info/care needs, and it is affordable for her. The middle/upper administration, however, is very poor at providing important information to the family. Middle management seems to turn over rather regularly at about 2 times each year during the time my mother has been there - making it difficult to keep track of who to contact for information. For example, my mother's villa got bed bugs, but I did not know about it for over 2 weeks. In that time, they threw away all the furniture in her room (thinking it was theirs instead of what we provided) including her grandmother's barrel-back chair. I contacted one manager, and after waiting weeks, found out they left the company and had to discover who was doing that job now. I finally had to contact the Ohio Ombudsman to get any type of settlement for our lost furniture.

I thought The Woodlands was nice. The facility was clean. The guy who gave the tour was new though, so he really wasn’t familiar with a lot of things.

We chose Heritage Retirement Communities because of their willingness to accept my loved one and care for his needed. There are 8 or 9 houses and each house has between 9-11 residents and the room sizes are wonderful. He is ecstatic about the food that is served. The staff has been very accommodating, but I have not gotten a lot of feedback from a medical point of view. I have had trouble getting in contact with the physician and we have not had any meetings, I do think it would be helpful to have check ins with the doctor so that the families can be more aware of what is going on medically. Overall I would recommend the facility to others looking.

The care was good for what my loved one needed. I would recommend The Fountains for others for their loved one. They had one set price each month, which we liked. There were times that the meat was too chewy and hard to cut with a knife, and sometimes too spicy for my loved one. The community went on lock down for the pandemic two weeks after moving in.

We chose The Fountains Assisted Living because of the location, it was close by so I could see my parents often, and when we went to tour it was neat and clean and it looked like someones home. The rooms were very large for the price, so I got my moneys worth. I never stayed for dinner, but everything looked and smelled good and my parents never complained. The best part about the community is that the staff members seemed very friendly and they took great care of the residents, it was very home-like. I would want others to know that this is more of an assisted living facility rather than memory care. I had to provide a lot of extra care for my mothers dementia. The director was very helpful to help us find a place that could focus more on memory care.

[Name removed] provided a tour to us after hours. There were happy-seeming residents walking around and sitting outside and in. The facility was the cleanest and most up-to-date of the senior living options we toured. It is a stones throw from the Shaker Heights library, a grocery store, and many other opportunities for community outings. We only wish they accepted Medicaid.

My tour of The Woodlands was very short because we went at a time when there was no sales people or tour guides, so the staff did what they could. They seemed very nice but they did not follow up. Also, we had already really liked another community.
