Easy for mom to get around, exercise program, friendly staff. They need more help in diner, too short staffed and not really balanced meals.

This was a nice place, and was our second choice.

This was a nice place, and was our second choice. They only offered two meals a day though. There was another community that we were considering that offered three meals a day. Had the other place not negotiated their price with us, we would have come here.

They are great. They are really nice there.

They are great. They are really nice there. The food is good, but they serve a lot of broccoli, and they serve a lot of soup, there isn't a ton of variety. It's a very nice place, she likes her little spot. I like that I am able to take a weekend to myself here and there. We are pretty happy with them.

Not all Communities are the same

The surface amenities are only the start in evaluating the community. Questions such as How long does it take to get your meal? What activities are there and when are they? What is the participation? What are the safety rules for FIRE, electrical outage or Storm damage? Can the resident walk to dinner at least four times a day? What activities are of interest to the resident? Many people are looking only for a place to live and have no interest in the life of the community. You need to have an interest for improving your abilities this is not a mortuary but a living vital organism which requires the cooperation of the residents.

Positives - time spent with us and knowledge/friendliness of staff. Jason the Concierge did tour - great job. Distance to NW kidney ctr and VMC good. Costs more in-line w/budget and willing to negotiate. Neg's - phase 2 apts not accredited for AL for 2 more years. Phase 1 general public spaces in need of a decorative lift w/ better lighting. Very dark. No memory care unit. Distance from apts to dining room quite a walk.

This was the first facility we visited and were very impressed. The Director spent over an hour with us touring and showing us all they have to offer. She introduced us to staff and residents and they seemed to really be happy. We liked the size of rooms, the variety of activities and the skilled nursing option available. Also the whole foods program. The one negative is that it is at the very top of her budget. It doesn't leave anything for the extras that will come up. This is our first choice so far.

Older but homey

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my loved one. However, I didn’t choose this community because it was older and I was looking for a brand new place. The décor was okay and it felt homey. The person who gave me the tour was friendly and knowledgeable. What I really liked about the rooms is the layout. I would recommend this facility to other families.

No place is perfect

Most staff are friendly and responsive. Activities are generally interesting. The food experience is inconsistent, with some food shortages lately. Other recent issues: room entry w/o permission; Removing our room keys w/o telling us; food shortages; Does not seem open to suggestions.

Gencare Lifestyle of Federal Way

Meals and more staff to help the people in wheelchairs and that need extra help. Yes, I would recommend the community to other families even though it is very negative. When we first moved there it wasn't bad, but after January it went down hill. They let a lot of staff go. And got a new cook, and that is when the meals began to get bad

Billing issues

They keep messing up our billing and overcharging us. I've had to have it fixed twice. They were charging for services they were not providing and for services we didn't need. Also, the food is pretty bad. Otherwise it's been very good. But those are two pretty important factors.
