food is horrible!

The food at Adelaide House is horrible. My mother seems to be happy there, but they don't have a lot to look forward to other than eating. She is not starving, but she has to have her own food brought to her because the food there is so bad. They are serving luncheon meats at dinner, and hot dogs, and such. One time it was just a bowl of noodles with nothing over it. She does not want fancy food, but she does want decent food and they are not serving it.

I find that the Adelaide house has issues with both the food and with cleaning. I believe that they don't have enough staff to clean adequately, and they definitely don't have a cook or nutritionist planning and cooking the meals. The meal at supper-time is often very bad and very limited.

Terrible

The facility lies and lies about things they’re going to change. You can call the facility a million times and no one answers or returns phone calls. They run with two caregivers on a shift. And the residents get minimal care. And the staff turnover is extremely high. No stability in staffing at all. And the staff they bring on do not care for the residents. There is only two staff members who seem to love what they do. One is on morning shift and her name is [name removed]. She’s always working hard and going above and beyond. She’s very patient and great with the residents and family. [name removed]is also very sweet and always lends a hand. The others sit on their phones and do nothing. If these ladies aren’t working you’re scared for your loved one. The food is terrible and they are never serving what’s on the menu. Residents don’t have the option for an alternative meal. Night crew will put the residents to bed at 5pm and when told that’s too early for a resident they say they are short staffed.

Do your research and pop in unannounced

The facility lies about what they offer and gives broken promises daily. There is never enough staff and the turnover is terrible. Residents wear other residents laundry and the only thing the facility says is it’s dementia care. The food is terrible and residents do not have the option to choose another meal or alternative. And the menu is never the same as what they are serving. The residents have the same food. Salad or something thrown together. They have staff that do not care about the residents. Night staff puts residents to bed at 5PM and they say it’s because they are short staffed. The staff also mentioned there’s only one key and the med tech has it. No stability in staffing at all. Company only has two workers that care. One of the morning shift caregivers and she goes above and beyond. She’s very patient and always working hard. Her name is [name removed] is also a great caregiver. That is pretty much the only good thing the facility has going.

This facility offers many broken promises. It amazes me when we went to view the facility and talk to the facility directors, they definitely know how to paint a beautiful picture. Bunch of lies is what we were told. They claim they have “chefs” that make food that is catered to the residents, have amazing staff which lack there of for both. Food consists of rice and pastas. No rarely vegetables or fruit. Extremely short staffed with a very “High” turnover. The residents have to clean their own rooms including the bathrooms. Many other dissatisfactions about this place , running out room.

Not very nice

There are some staff that bring the place to life however some are very rude and treat the patients like a job and not a priority. The staff seem to not care how they talk in front of the patients including my mother. A lot of them cuss in front of me and the patients as if we cannot hear them. The building looks clean though.

Not Good

I paid my father’s monthly rent for the month but unfortunately my father passed away on the 8th of that month. I was told I would receive a refund for the 3 weeks. That was 2 months ago. I have placed many phone calls to the Elkhorn facility as well as the billing department. All I get are lies for I am still waiting for the refund. My experience with this facility caring for my father was poor and now with not getting the refund it’s only lowering my opinion even further of Tender Reflections

Would not recommend

My mom was here for several months and that was much too long. Care was minimal, staff was totally unfriendly, never greeted anyone the times we visited. Food was not of a standard for elderly people. Residents constantly entering her room uninvited so that she had to lock her door. Would warn anyone to stay away from this place!

Staff Doesn't Care!!!

We were totally taken in by this beautiful, new facility, but looks are deceiving. The staff is totally uncaring. We were never greeted at the door, residents are wandering around with no supervision, the activity director clearly hates her job, the food is laughable for older people, and despite more than half the rooms unoccupied, they are cramming two residents in a room as small as a dorm room with no privacy whatsoever. My mom spent her days locked in her room watching TV, because there was nothing else to do, and residents were allowed to wander into her room. No one was ever at the nurses station on her wing to redirect dementia residents. this facility is clearly geared toward dementia and Alzheimer's, not assisted living. also, the cleaning was marginal with us having to clean her toilet. Do not send your loved one here! Her new facility is filled with loving, caring people that will keep my 92 year old mom engaged and safe. No wonder Tender Reflections is at less than half occupied while others have waiting lists. so sad! It could be wonderful with the right staff. The director couldn't even be bothered to say goodbye.

Staff was uncaring and ignored residents

When I tour a facility I like to arrive early and around meal time to see how the staff is. When I got here the staff was completely oblivious. They were uncaring and flat-out ignored the residents. I really didn’t like how they treated them. I was disappointed and ended up just leaving. I wouldn’t consider putting anyone here. It is a brand new facility and looked nice but the staff negated that. I do not recommend this facility.

Don't be fooled by the tour.

The reality never matched the tour or promises offered by [Removed]. My mom was not carefully cared for even though her care plan charged us for Level 3. The aides often talked about residents. I heartfully believe that our elderly deserve to be treated with a much greater level of respect than offered by many of the aides at Clifden Court. I spent a lot of time with my mom, and I think anyone who says their loved one is cared for here has blinders on, or they only visit for short amounts of time. I witnessed a frail old man asking for a piece of toast. He was told he could eat lunch in an hour and if he was hungry he should have come to the dining room in time for breakfast. Thousands of dollars a month, and he wasn't allowed to have a piece of toast. It still brings me to tears, and I don't even know who that man was. Don't be fooled by the tours. The promises offered are not kept by the people on the floor.

Need to be audited.

Let me start with the poor quality of food - hot dogs or soup for supper is not nutritious -especially if a low sodium diet is required. Now residents, if they prefer not to eat soup or hot dogs, are required to provide their own eggs as dinner is a reality. Often times there is no butter or bread. These items are especially missed as breakfast items. Bologna sandwiches as a meal? For the thousands of dollars they charge monthly, one would think the food would be plentiful, healthy and nutritious, sadly, no. Fresh fruit and vegetables are a scarce commodity. Staff is overworked which results in very high turnover. Residents with limited mobility often wait over an hour after calling for bathroom assistance. Temporary help is often used and many are untrained. I am not a disgruntled employee. I have a family friend who regrettably, resided here.

Pitiful food, short staffed, lack of care.

This place is so understaffed, poor food, it’s incredible that they are not shut down. Patients can wait as much as two hours for someone to come help them use the restroom. Waiting 45 minutes is pretty average. Often times, my mother would miss breakfast because no one would come get her ready in time for breakfast. Pitiful. The food - stir fry that has hot dogs in it as the protein?! True. Canned watery soup for supper is common in the winter. High turnover of staff and their is not enough staff to care for the people living there. There are very limited activities for residents and few entertainment activities. It’s a sad place to spend the end of your life.

You'll be happier elsewhere.

Tender reflection could be a lot better but all they seem to be concerned about is money ; I see the owners responding but the responses are so fake it's not even funny. As for having someone as the front desk at all times, not true - their deforest location had no one at the front desk for months, they've also been open since August 2017 and have went through 3 administrators and nearly all the staff they began with, they gathered more residents than staff and were short staffed but refused to consider themselves short staffed and accused staff of just not being able to handle it instead - I've talked to [name removed] multiple times and out of the few times he was drunk.

They use their residents as a prop in their marketing, making it seem like its a great place with activities when the residents are getting sub par care. The quality of the facility (or lack there of) is a Great Concern of ours.

My grandmother was here and I wouldn't allow them to care for my dog. Huge staff turn over, they do not follow family requests for dressing their residents appropriately (warm clothes for cold weather, undergarments, etcetera), they would not even cut my grandmothers food for her so she could eat! The bathrooms are filthy (feces on toilet seats and floors ), the workers do not respond to alarms in a timely manner (average wait is 15 minutes--what if the resident fell?!!!), soiled bandages and adult diapers are left out to breed bacteria--her room frequently smelled so bad I would gag upon entering. There were valuable items (purse, jewelry , keepsakes) [removed] from her room on multiple occasions. I would NEVER recommend this facility or any of the others owned by this organization. Please do not put your loved ones here--you will only be filled with regret.
