My Mom Likes It Here

The staff are great! They all care for my mother in such a way that she feels safe. They encourage her to be as independent as possible while remaining her stalwart supporters should she become confused and forgetful. She is valued for who she is now and she is free from the burden of not living up to what she used to be able to do. She has her own room and bathroom, which we could furnish and decorate according to her preferred tastes. The facility is designed with the residents’ comfort in mind. The staff pays attention to my mother needs to such a degree that they know which recliners fit a small person like her best. Common areas and bedrooms all have large windows. There are plenty of comfortable seating arrangements including a large outdoor patio. There are activities offered throughout the week, including visits from area musicians. I rated the facilities level of cleanliness as good, because I see the effort the staff puts into keeping my mother’s room clean. She, too, is alway clean and in fresh clothing. However, I think the facility would benefit from investing in industrial-sized washers and dryers so that residents hampers don’t remain in their bathrooms for too long. I rated the activities as good, but not great, because the volume of the music during performances and as background for activities can sometimes be distressingly loud. It’s the level where your ears ring and you can’t hear the person next to you speak. Fortunately, the common areas are usually not that noisy. We are very satisfied with the care my mother receives.

i have had my mom here for a couple of months and our experience has been only positive so far. the day we moved in all of the staff and aids came to greet us and meet her and ask questions about what she likes and needs. I visit a few times a week and there are always nurse and staff on the floor and active with the other residents. Her room and bathroom are always clean and she is always well groomed with clean clothes( she cant groom herself) I have a keyfob to get in but if I forgot it- there has always been someone working at the door except one time. whenever I show up my mom is either sitting in the main living room with everyone else of doing a puzzle, and she is very happy and we feel confident she is being cared for. I toured many facilities before choosing this one. I also just randomly stopped by multiple facilities several times to look around and see for myself vs being on a guided tour. and I always felt that the residents looked well cared for which helped me make my decision. when I have emailed the administrators or head nurse they reply right away or when I call they are immediately available which is important to me. they also called my mom moms first night there to let me know how she was doing and then a couple weeks later emailed me an update.

General care

I am writing this for my husband. We have not seen any activities so far. He is not happy with the food for supper. Also he waits a long time after he pushes his buzzer. They seem to be short staffed. The staff that is there is very friendly and helpful. Many things are a la carte which for the price of staying there should be included. We would prefer a place where the dementia patients are separate.

I took care of my wife for 10 years. I don't think I could ever find a place that would totally satisfy me. I don't know if that's possible. The staff at Frontida is very good very friendly always happy the one place I wish they could improve as I wish they could spend more time one on one with my wife, which I know probably isn't possible because they have several people there so I don't know if anybody would ever find a place that totally satisfies you.

Questionable

This facility is questionable. The turnover in help is the biggest problem. On a daily basis, cell phones are in constant use by employees rather than trying to engage residents in some type of stimulation. Activity calendar there pretty much for show. Residents are set in front of television for hours with zero interaction. Some will join in if an activity is planned, however, if only one or two seem interested, the activity does not happen. Tremendous amount of responsibility is expected of employees due to budget cuts. They are responsible for cleaning, cooking, care giving, recreation, and the general housekeeping of the facility. I must say the girls who administer care, are very patient and sweet, however, It does not go unnoticed how frustrated they get when so much has to be done with 2-3 employees per shift. It is sad when the physician that the facility offers, comments on Staffing problems.

Community Was Too Small

When we toured this community I felt that it was too small for what would have been needed especially for my dad. However, I did not like the setup as to how the residents lived it was like college dorm style living more than one resident would share a bathroom and living space. The community was geared more towards residents with dementia and Alzheimers and not assisted living and that is what we needed for my dad. It's a relativity new community so everything appeared clean and nice.

Better communication is what we need!

I am not happy with this community and the way that the staff treat my brother. The staff lie about what they are doing for my brother when I talk to him everyday. The CNA"S are suppose to walk my brother and they do not. The nurses do not order is medication in a proper time so sometimes he has to go with out it. The administration does not ever get a hold of me or answer any calls. However, the community is clean and neat all the time.

A tour for care

. I was not happy with the community. I felt like they would not answer my questions. This community is nice and clean. They offered activities. I was not able to see if they had the good menu. I would suggest other families fo and take a tour to see if this community is what they are looking for.

food is horrible!

The food at Adelaide House is horrible. My mother seems to be happy there, but they don't have a lot to look forward to other than eating. She is not starving, but she has to have her own food brought to her because the food there is so bad. They are serving luncheon meats at dinner, and hot dogs, and such. One time it was just a bowl of noodles with nothing over it. She does not want fancy food, but she does want decent food and they are not serving it.

I find that the Adelaide house has issues with both the food and with cleaning. I believe that they don't have enough staff to clean adequately, and they definitely don't have a cook or nutritionist planning and cooking the meals. The meal at supper-time is often very bad and very limited.

Terrible

The facility lies and lies about things they’re going to change. You can call the facility a million times and no one answers or returns phone calls. They run with two caregivers on a shift. And the residents get minimal care. And the staff turnover is extremely high. No stability in staffing at all. And the staff they bring on do not care for the residents. There is only two staff members who seem to love what they do. One is on morning shift and her name is [name removed]. She’s always working hard and going above and beyond. She’s very patient and great with the residents and family. [name removed]is also very sweet and always lends a hand. The others sit on their phones and do nothing. If these ladies aren’t working you’re scared for your loved one. The food is terrible and they are never serving what’s on the menu. Residents don’t have the option for an alternative meal. Night crew will put the residents to bed at 5pm and when told that’s too early for a resident they say they are short staffed.

Do your research and pop in unannounced

The facility lies about what they offer and gives broken promises daily. There is never enough staff and the turnover is terrible. Residents wear other residents laundry and the only thing the facility says is it’s dementia care. The food is terrible and residents do not have the option to choose another meal or alternative. And the menu is never the same as what they are serving. The residents have the same food. Salad or something thrown together. They have staff that do not care about the residents. Night staff puts residents to bed at 5PM and they say it’s because they are short staffed. The staff also mentioned there’s only one key and the med tech has it. No stability in staffing at all. Company only has two workers that care. One of the morning shift caregivers and she goes above and beyond. She’s very patient and always working hard. Her name is [name removed] is also a great caregiver. That is pretty much the only good thing the facility has going.

This facility offers many broken promises. It amazes me when we went to view the facility and talk to the facility directors, they definitely know how to paint a beautiful picture. Bunch of lies is what we were told. They claim they have “chefs” that make food that is catered to the residents, have amazing staff which lack there of for both. Food consists of rice and pastas. No rarely vegetables or fruit. Extremely short staffed with a very “High” turnover. The residents have to clean their own rooms including the bathrooms. Many other dissatisfactions about this place , running out room.

Not very nice

There are some staff that bring the place to life however some are very rude and treat the patients like a job and not a priority. The staff seem to not care how they talk in front of the patients including my mother. A lot of them cuss in front of me and the patients as if we cannot hear them. The building looks clean though.

Not Good

I paid my father’s monthly rent for the month but unfortunately my father passed away on the 8th of that month. I was told I would receive a refund for the 3 weeks. That was 2 months ago. I have placed many phone calls to the Elkhorn facility as well as the billing department. All I get are lies for I am still waiting for the refund. My experience with this facility caring for my father was poor and now with not getting the refund it’s only lowering my opinion even further of Tender Reflections
