You can tell the facility is new

I toured this facility while looking for a place for my Mom. It was very nice and you could tell it was a new facility. However, it just didn’t seem like a great place for my Mom and her needs. While on my tour, I met a couple of the nurses and they were very nice. They gave me a pie after my tour and it was really good (it was still warm too). The building was very clean. There’s a big fireplace when you first walk in and it had a living room type of atmosphere. They had a few activities available and had Mass as well.

A New Start For Mom

It's hard when people leave their homes and go into a new place. All in all, mom is getting used to the community and enjoying it and has even made a new friend. i like that the staff checks on the residents every hour. Once on one of the hourly checks, they saw that my mom had fallen and they called the ambulance and got her immediate help. They called my sister, who lives in the area, and she was able to meet my mom at the hospital. Fortunately, while my mom needed stitches, she was okay. We were all so happy she was at bridges instead of at home. It is good that she is not alone anymore and has the community's help.

My mother feels safe. It’s clean, bright and friendly. Not enough CNAs to care for resident’s needs. Not enough training of CNAs to be aware of resident’s needs – or use of their time. CNAs as a whole are kind, compassionate but over worked! Laundry is mixed with others – Not good! Activities are great. Music, art and TV is okay.

A pretty good community!

The staff helped my aunt the best they could during her short three week stay. I had good communication with them in regard to her care. They brought in hospice and did what they needed to do. This is a brand new community made up of four different houses called a neighborhood. I did not see a lot of activities during my visits. The price is a lot cheaper than other places in the area and I would recommend it.

Hi, my parents went to Bridges near the end of September. I was led to believe there were a lot of activities geared toward memory impaired/dementia/Alzheimer's patients. So far I am not impressed with those kind of activities. Also I was told that the aides all spoke very clear English, but have found that most do not, they do speak English of course, but some of them are very hard to understand. I am a bit disappointed in Bridges. The facility itself is beautiful and clean, think the pricing is high for the quality of care.

highly recommend this integral facility

Just like many other places they are understaffed at times and we do take that into consideration but because of that sometimes the quality of care slips through the cracks. However whenever we bring this to the staff attentions or have any questions or concerns they admit to it, they do not make up excuses and they own that fact that somethings may not be as closely paid attention to as they should be. We really appreciate their honestly because that goes a long way. It overall is a really great place - right when you walk in it just has this really great atmosphere to it. The residents all seem very happy and our loved one adjusted really well which we did not think would happen. The activities get 10 stars, we like how they are more geared to getting the resident's to interact with one another.

Nice facility, poor care

We wanted to like Bridges. They answered all the questions we asked in a way that reassured us. We gave it a chance with a loved one for over a year. Some aspects of it are nice. The facility, the friendly receptionist, the bright and cheerful lighting, the food, and the green grounds. But, buyer beware. The training for CNAs at Bridges is woefully and willfully inadequate. And the supervision is almost *completely absent.* The staff who give your loved one hands-on care, for the most part, could really care less. They do the bare minimum, and do not treat the residents with even the most basic modicum of human compassion, kindness, or empathy. Rather, they treat them like annoying chores, who take time away from their personal phone calls and online scrolling. It’s really low quality care for a very high cost that keeps rising every few months. Avoid Bridges if you love your loved one with dementia.

The staff are as patient and caring as you could hope for. The activities staff are a blessing. [name removed] and [name removed] bring joy and purpose. The every-other-weekly visits from bunny rabbits (and their handlers) is priceless. But gradually losing your mental (and often physical) faculties is awful.

Good concept, something is missing

The building is beautiful and the concept is great. I love that it is more medical than most places and they don't nickel and dime you for care, it's all included, even taking care of and administering the drugs! There are many caring staff in the neighborhoods, but there is something missing! The interaction is a little flat and the communication is bad. I reached out to ask questions about my mother's health and they never got back to me, and in fact after I reached out a second time, I felt the higher up people that I tried to engage with, then continued to avoid me when I visited. The food is ok. Some of the other Bridges have a great reputation for their food, but this food is ok. On the holidays the food is very good, but on the day to day it is just ok, and they don't try to find the residents something else to eat if they don't like what's offered like they say they do. Many of the staff don't engage with the residents that much, and there are activities which can be good, but they are very slow to get them started, with long wait times, and they don't get the residents that excited or engaged. Seemed a bit like the residents that were more confused got less attention. They have lots of outings with the residents, but seem to take the same residents. We asked to have my mother go, but she never went anywhere in 7 months. They talk about it being a family, but I never felt like they cared that much about my mother, in fact when she passed away, we didn't hear from a single employee or the community at all. Not one person even reached out to say, "Sorry for your loss", we only knew she passed because an outside hospice nurse contacted us. Not very homey! My mother was pretty laid back and she didn't deserve the lethargic care that often occurred. I did reach out to say I felt really bad that we heard from no-one when she passed, and it felt like no-one even cared about my mother, with little response. I never complained while she was there, and she wasn't high maintenance. In fact she threw up one Monday, and it was still in her bed on Friday when I returned. I really wanted to love it, but it just isn't fulfilling what it should.

Bridges By Epoch At Hingham

The community was always clean. The staff was friendly. I looked very thoroughly for a place for my husband. They did not tell us they wouldn't be able to accommodate my husband with getting to and from the bathroom. Because of this, they said he would need an outside nurse to take of care of him, which was very expensive. After a trip to the hospital, they again told us he would need extra, round the clock nurses to take care of him for two weeks. At one point, I went in and his nurse was actually asleep. We did not think it was a good value for the price as it was not what I thought it would be.

Very friendly staff!!

My husband was only at this community for a short time and I am sorry I put him in this place. He just really never was able to adjust to the new living environment and did not like being there at all. If I have any advice to anyone is to listen to them and make sure they are comfortable in there new home, if not do not make them stay. I will say the staff where always so friendly and every time my family went to visit they always spoke so highly of them. I do suggest maybe a little extra training for the caretakers on medical signs of a problems occurring.
