Really substandard care! My Aunt is there for rehab after a knee replacement. She is mentally disabled. They never return phone calls and nurses are not knowledgeable! Cannot get my Aunt out of their fast enough!

Worst place to have a loved one in, by far. Nurse is never there, the cnas are inexperienced. Food menu is not a well balanced diet, always served cold to patients in memory care. [removed] Management is very manipulative , they are the nicest people when you first go in , once a patient is moved in they change and don't fix problems. Just plain and simple a bad place to place a loved one in.

Under new management patient care is at a new low. I have been in many care facilities and I have never been at a place where there is a culture of doing just enough to get by and no more. Staff is more interested I talking to each other then residents. Bedroom floors are filthy and the hallways smell like urine. Laundry comes back grey. Activities are few... under previous management activities staff did a great job getting people out of there rooms and doing things. My loved one was hospitalized and staff didn't realize she was gone. All this could be changed but management and staff have got to make it happen for benefit of these lovely people.

Only reason they received any stars is because I could not give them 0, and it was clean. But service is horrible and a joke! They should be shut down!

I've never been in such an unsafe and unprofessional environment. My mother has been in the rehab facility twice in the past 3 weeks. Both times, they disregarded the doctors' discharge instructions, necessitating a return to Shawnee Mission Hospital for inpatient care. As a Registered Nurse, I strongly advise getting copies of your doctor's written instructions and medication regimen prior to admission at this facility. Also check with the State of Kansas to see if complaints are on file for any facility you are considering.

It's obvious inside and out that this place isn't maintained. Lights in the parking out and at the patient drop-off locations have been burned out for months. The nurses aides are lazy and rude. My mother-in-law is afraid to irritate them for fear she'll get even less care. Don't bother leaving a message for anyone on the administrative staff because they won't call back. If it wasn't for the location, this would be my absolute last choice in "nursing" home care. If one can afford it, go anywhere else.

I would not recommend this place for your loved ones! It's dirty and has very bad reputation everywhere you go. Mostly anyone had anything good to say about it. It's always dirty. They have really nice aids but poor things they are jammed packed with other task to do. Instead of just focusing on giving patient care. If management would only get things straighter out. And worry more about actually giving good care to people.

My mother-in-law was admitted for physical therapy after a heart valve replacement. The staff was very disorganized, taking a long time to respond to call buttons and forgetting to following up with patient requests. If you MUST place a family member there DO NOT use the resident physician - request your own doctor. If possible REQUEST A DIFFERENT FASCILITY. The staff was slow to respond to family questions. The management is poor and the facility is understaffed with undertrained personnel. Her medicine list was incorrect; this was pointed out but never changed. She was kept so drugged up that she received very little physical therapy. We told the staff to cut back on the pain meds but this was never done. Physical therapy was a group situation where patients were lucky to receive 10 minutes time with the therapist. We tried to her moved to a different facility with no help from their staff. I would never let her or anyone else I know go there.

It's terrible, I would not put a dog here. It looks dirty, the food isn't very appetizing, the nurses don't seem too concerned about their patients and they don't take the time to really talk to them. I wouldn't have put my mom there and I tried to stop it.

A very few good staff workers. My daughter, history of stroke, and post surgery for affected foot fusion, was supposed to be non weight bearing. Some staff told her it was okay to use that foot to transfer for toileting. She was supposed to have a compression sock on opposite foot and it was sent from hospital but she was told "you don't want to wear that thing". I called about medication and food. I was told by [name removed], no records were sent from the hospital. But after bringing her home, I found two copies in her belongings including two med lists. Some of her meds were not even given as prescribed or incorrect dosages given. They never bothered to unpack her things. She was there 10 days and got two cold fried eggs with no salt and pepper with a dry piece of toast for breakfast. When I called I was told they got a menu everyday and got to choose but no one ever gave her a choice. To counter the pain meds, she was given milk of magnesia but would have her bell on for over an hour needing help. There is no one to help with toileting while meal trays are being handed out. There should be a floater for this as that is inhuman to expect patients to hold it for that long. He bones in her foot were fused and she would sometimes wait till she was shaking and in cold sweats for a pain pill. On her follow up visit with her surgeon, who wrote discharge orders, I followed the transport back to the facility expecting to bring her home. I was told their doctor would discharge when he felt enough progress had been made. I feel they just wanted the Medicare money for a longer stay. She was getting limited PT anyway. She signed herself out and I brought her home. Terrible experience for both of us. She had been in a rehab in CA after her stroke for over a month and it was like night and day.

Do not consider this facility if you care about your loved one. My mother was at this facility. They neglected and failed her. She fell twice. They did not report this fall to myself, hospice, or management. Nor was an incident report filed, which is their policy. When I went to visit her, I noticed she was in pain and distress. When I looked over her body, I noticed a contusion to her leg. I went to ask a caregiver if she knew what happened, that is when she proceeded to tell she found my mother on the floor in her room screaming. She simply put her back in bed and told no one. I requested mobile xrays to be done and that is when we found the fractured hip. My mother lay there for 17 HOURS with no help, pain medication, or medical treatment of any kind. I had to place her on crisis care and I lost her 5 days later. I reported this to the Department of State Health Services and the complaint was substantiated and the facility was cited. This exact thing happened to another resident just prior to this happening to my mother. This was not an isolated incident. Check the Department of Health and Human Services and D.A.D.S website for citations they have received. Please consider a different facility for your loved one.

My Dad went to this facility for rehab after breaking his hip. I would not recommend this facility at all for rehab. He never received any individual rehab. He was in group therapy...which translated to maybe 15 minutes of attention. Group rehab is a tremendous financial benefit for the facility. They bill the insurance company for each person sitting in that room for the entire time they are in the room, even though they get very little individual attention. Totally unacceptable. When he arrived at the facility, he needed to be shaved. We asked staff for 3 days to do that. Never happened. We finally did it ourselves. During his time there we got very little to no communication from staff. We had to continually seek them out. We definitely made a poor choice when we selected this facility and regret that Dad was ever there.

Do your loved ones a favor and please find another rehab/assisted living community. My mother's meals are forgotten almost on a daily basis. The food is horrible and cold. Sometimes her medications are forgotten, as well. She is there to build strength and endurance after a long illness and they've given her a wheelchair to scoot around in.

My mom was transferred from having knee surgery first up on walking in felt nursing staff was not doing there job they were wondering around unprofessional not helping patients they were invasive and were more concerned about items my mom brought into facility than taking care of her first night my mom was there no pain medication no help supporting her to restroom it was a nightmare for her next morning I went to visit they transfer my mom to another room staff didn’t know what room she was in I was concerned finally found her when visiting she told me what had happened I started paperwork to have her discharged from facility she had to indure another night with same conditions screaming patients can’t forget food was terrible they messed with her room phone so she could not make calls or receive calls it was like being in prison finally she went home with me they made me feel like I was not looking out for her best but I can take care of her 100% better than they did I would never recommend anyone to this facility

My brother just spent 12 days at Shawnee Parc. I'm really not sure what they did for him there. I truly feel like they put him in a room and forgot about him. He was supposed to have physical, occupational, and speech therapy, but I never saw any evidence of these services. The people who staffed the front desk didn't seem to know anything and were rude at times. The communication of what was happening with his care was nil. I never saw a doctor who was supposed to see him once a day. I received a bill while he was still in the facility for days he wasn't a patient there, as well as a bill for future days. It was bizarre. On the day he was discharged, no one seemed to know the procedures. They handed me two papers that were his discharge papers. We didn't sign anything. I feel like we could have walked out of there, and no one would have even known he was gone. I would not recommend this facility to any family wanting any type of care for their loved ones. I'm disappointed that the services that were promised and part of his plan of care were not provided. Families bring their loved ones to this type of facility and trust the professionals to provide appropriate care for them. This was not done at Shawnee Parc.

Would not recommend. I'm very disappointed because when we first went there everyone was very friendly and communicative. As the days went on, it was like pulling teeth to find anything out. And then there were almost too many people because I could ask one person a question and they said I would have to talk to another - and another - and another and I would never get a straight answer. My mom was supposed to be recovering there from a surgery and we were planning on moving her to the Assisted Living facility there but as the days went by, mom kept getting worse. I noticed that she wasn't eating but apparently that's not something they write in there notes or pass onto family members. Ended up having to have mom go to emergency room and within 30 minutes (from blood work, urinalysis and x-ray which Brookdale said they had performed two days earlier - although I have yet to get those results which I asked for 3 months ago) the hospital found all kinds of things wrong with her. The communication at Brookdale stinks. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't have a family member or advocate going there everyday. With all that being said, most of the nurses were very nice and would fill me in (when asked) of mom's status from their shift. It just seemed shift to shift and upper management did not relay information.

My mother stayed at the Healthcare Resort of Leawood early last summer, shortly after they opened. The care was fair, at best. The quality of their nursing staff was quite a disappointment. Of less importance, but notable however, was that in the 2 weeks that she was there they never got one of her meals correct. We had hoped that the poor quality of care was due to them being new, so when my father needed short term care last month he chose to go there. He was only there for 3 days before having to go back to the hospital. (The nursing staff had not improved and they didn’t get any of his meals correct either.) During his final night there, he began to have quite a bit of rectal bleeding, so he rang for the nurse. NO ONE EVER CAME!!! He was extremely weak, but was finally able to get himself out of bed, get cleaned up and change his pajamas and remove the sheets. He continued to get worse on into the morning, and when my sister got there she requested they call for an ambulance for him to be taken back to the hospital. They refused, until she said that if they didn’t call for one, she would call herself. My father was then hospitalized for a week, until he was able to be released for rehab, and needless to say, he did not go back to that facility. He instead went to Brookdale and had a very positive experience there.

Keep looking, HC Resort is truly horrible for anyone needing "skilled" nursing. There are very few nurses,'and the doctor is non existent. CNA's run the place and for the most part they were non responsive to needs, rough and rude. This place is beautiful on the outside but the inside is full of dangerous incompetence.

Therapists are great. The medical care is nonexistent. Rough and uncaring night time CNA's. Very few nurses and non existent doctor. My mother went over a week without a bath. She has deteriorated in this facility and I am very thankful we are able to transfer her out. This place sounds wonderful on paper and the representative makes it out to be a palace. Don't believe it.

I recently had a family member who was placed in the care of this facility. I came in several times and my family member was soaked on more than one occasion with urine and feces, dry skin, mouth care was non existent . A wound developed with in a week of the stay and soon worsened. I had voiced my concerns repeatedly all the way to the administrator they assured me the care would improve. my family member was transferred to the hospital for sepsis a an infection stemming from the wound. my family member was to sick to fight and lost their battle and passed away. If you are considering placing your family member in the care of these people I implore you to think again check their history and reviews.
