A Place for Mom has scored Bay Harbor Assisted Living with 7.7 out of 10 using our proprietary review score based on 11 reviews in the last 2 years. Over all time, Bay Harbor Assisted Living has 31 reviews with an average "overall experience" of 3.5 out of 5.
The lack of staffing has been the biggest issue. There is a major lack of fresh vegetables on the menu as well. There is no correspondence back to the families either. Overall there are just a lot of improvements that The Koselig House could make to improve the experience.

Sometimes when you push the button to leave the facility it can take awhile for someone to come and get to you especially over the weekends.

They are not very friendly on the phone. Administration isn't great. The staff that handles residents are good. There is another place here in Ripon that costs a little less, is newer and is awesome on the phone, as such, I feel the value here is not great. good maybe but not great.

Stay away from Thee Koselig House if you care about your loved one! Things started out great last August, but after the Director [name removed] left, things went downhill in a hurry. We moved our family member out months ago, due to the lousy care, constant turnover of staff, and terrible meals (which was often cereal for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and Papa John's pizza for dinner....and we were paying [fee removed] a month for that? Ridiculous! Poorly managed, poorly trained staff, terrible facility!

Do not put a loved one in this facility. There is usually an average of 2 staff members on a shift covering 20 residents. There is no house keeping or laundry staff. Those who work do their best with what they have. Family members need to visit more often and at off times to see the real workings of the facility.

The owners of this corporation only care about putting money in their pocket, and not the Residents and staff. The owner has eliminated positions including the activity aides, dietary aide, and receptionists and now expect the caretakers to handle these duties in addition to lowering the starting salary! They are also filling up the beds with high needs residents, with less staff. Management is hardly ever there and there is no oversight, except for the owner who claims to watch over like a big brother on the cameras. This place is going down fast! Look around- there are much better places out there!

My sister Pam Pasowicz didn’t mention that the when my mother fell from her wheelchair she broke the 1st cervical vertebrae, called C-1 or the atlas. It’s the 1st vertebrae under the skull. WHERE WAS THE STAFF???? When she hit her head in the nightstand, I was visiting my mom about a week before Easter. I had gotten some Popeye’s chicken for her (her favorite) when I noticed a large bump on her forehead. I asked her what happened and she told me. I stopped a staff member and questioned her about the bump. She had no idea mom had fallen out of bed and hit the nightstand w/her head. I asked if she had been taken to get checked out, she went and checked her chart and no she hadn’t. I then asked why my sister and I weren’t called. All she could do is shrug her shoulders. My mom DIED EXACTLY 4 months to the day she broke her neck.

Avoid this facility! They are understaffed, and the staff the do have is the worst of the worst. Apparently the only qualifications needed to work there is to have a pulse.

I AM AFRAID I DO NOT HAVE A GOOD REVIEW OF THIS PLACE. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE MEMORY CARE THAT WAS NEEDED FOR MY MOM. WHEN MOM FELL OUT OF BED & BUMPED HER HEAD, THEY DID NOT CALL MY SISTER OR MYSELF OR TAKE HER TO URGENT CARE. WHEN SHE FELL OUT OF HER WHEELCHAIR, IT WAS THE HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOM THAT CALLED TO LET ME KNOW THAT SHE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL. SHE WAS INPATIENT FOR OVER A WEEK WITH A HUGE KNOT ON HER FOREHEAD. WHEN IT CAME TO MEALS, PATIENTS WERE NOT GIVEN ANY CHOICES & THE AMOUNTS WERE LIMITED. MY MOTHER DID NOT EAT FISH & THAT IS ALL THAT WAS OFFERED AT AN EVENING MEAL. SHE HAD HER NOOK STOLEN.
