I gotta say I’m real concerned 'bout the night care she's gettin’ at Aspen Assisted Living. Her well-bein’ just ain’t what it oughta be. She’s been more tired, restless, and complainin' 'bout the loud laughin', folks bein' rude, and talkin’ on their phones. Seems like she’s waitin’ too long for help, and there just ain’t enough staff checkin' on her. It’s been keepin' me up at night worryin' if she’s bein' looked after right, and that weighs heavy on my mind. Her health is sufferin’, and she’s lookin' worn out. I hope y’all take this to heart and make some changes for her sake.

Their Staff had no professional medication Training. I ask the one girl passing medication. She confirmed it. So many licensing violations. All staff on evenings and midnights stayed in Living room on cell phones or watching TV. They never did an regular bed checks, my client laid half off the bed in Urine, was not bathe until the Hospice nurse and myself did it the day before she passed. The Director had her untrained sin passing medication etc. None of the staff went through trainings.

On boarding process is non-existent. No documented process &/or procedures. Jewelry was stolen. Medications not regulated. Doctors review was not scheduled frequently & had to follow up for evaluations. Getting return calls was difficult. And so on & so on.....

In the short time that my loved has been there, I have found that the staff turnover is ridiculous, and we could never find them. They also just replaced the director. My loved one has also lost several items during his stay. It also looks like the facility needs major remodeling.

What a joke of a place for "adults" to live! During activities nursery rhymes are being played. These people are ADULTS people, they don't need to be listening to nursery rhymes. How about some 40's, 50's and 60's music instead! The activities are so unorganized and childish for the people living there to be playing. Let's play basketball using a Little Tikes basketball hoop or how about ring toss using shower curtains. Everything is so unorganized as far as activities goes and very cheap! There are no games being played to enhance memory skills. The staff is more interested in talking about their lives instead of leaving it at home while at work. The air conditioning NEVER works in the building. Most of the time there are fans in the hallways to try and cool off the building, but then the people living there are susceptible to tripping on the cords. If you are thinking about having a loved one live at this facility, I would think twice about it! The things PROMISED at admittance are NOT followed through once the person is living there. Very poorly run facility!

Please do not send your loved ones here it is absolutely the worst place on earth. This is what gives nursing homes a bad name. The staff is not licensed, the place is filthy, physical therapy? yea right the place is a joke, your loved one will remain crippled their whole life. They do not take care of their residents they are simply just milking money from all of you uninformed people. Please please please do your research and look elsewhere. All the good reviews are most likely from the management. Even the staff members look unhappy.

My mom was at Ashley Court temporarily for about a week, but had an emergency situation where she had to be placed elsewhere. I would not ever recommend Ashley Court to anyone. My mom was in highest level of memory care and it was awful. The community was not clean, the patients roamed in and out of their rooms and there was hardly any supervision of the residents. Hospice care came in to do an interview with my mom and they sent her back to the wrong room; they couldn't keep track of the residents either. I couldn't get my mom out of there fast enough.

Note: Some ratings are not valid. Unable to access or tour the facility or visit my wife due to Covid 19 restrictions. This review is a factual recap of events at Ashley Court-Brighton's Memory Care Campus. It is intended to alert anyone considering placing a loved one in their care. On [date removed] I tendered a check for $5317.00 to cover an admission fee and a prorated balance for April for my wife's residency. She was admitted the same day. She was diagnosed as suffering from severe dementia after a four day stay at St. John Providence-Novi hospital. She was transported to Ashley Court by Huron Valley Ambulance. The ambulance log clearly states: "purse left with patient." On [date removed] (three days later) she fell in her room and fractured her left femur. Staff told me she had fallen against the bedroom door and they had to climb through a window to rescue her. On [date removed] her fracture was surgically repaired at St. Joe's-Livingston hospital. On [date removed] she was admitted to Medilodge-Howell because Ashley Court couldn't provide the care she needed post surgery, It does not provide 24 hour/seven day nursing care or in-house rehabilitation services. Nursing care outside of the 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday schedule is on an as needed on-call basis. Also, on [date removed], I picked up from Ashley Court what I was told were all her belongings . At that point the staff knew my wife would not be returning. I assumed her account would be closed. NOT SO! I was billed for $4800 for May residency because I had not provided a 30 day notice of leaving. Admittedly, I had signed such a document but sincerely believed it would not apply, given the circumstances. I could not get the charge waived. After several conversations with the owner,[name removed] (sp?) and under the threat of a lawsuit, I was forced to pay $2400.00 to settle and close the account. His stated reason for not waiving the entire amount was he needed the $2400.00 to make payroll. On [date removed] my wife passed away in her sleep at Medilodge-Howell In summary, I have paid Ashley Court of Brighton a total of $7700.00 for 3 days of residency, a fractured femur and lost personal belongings. Sadly, it has taken four trips to recover my wife's belongings with each trip promised to be the last. Unfortunately, a purse, tri-fold wallet and small change purse are still unaccounted for although returned to me were three credit cards that were in her wallet. Please be aware of what could happen before you place your loved one in the care of Ashley Court of Brighton.

I highly encourage you to go someplace else. This facility is NOT a good place for anyone. My parent was living here and we had to remove them due to poor care and allegations of abuse to other residents. This place needs to be shut down and fast. The state is under current investigations but the process is slow and I'm afraid for those that are there.

First hand experience having a family member here. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. The owner is money hungry, the buildings are in BAD shape. After charging over 6,000 a month to live there. They only give residents $4.00 worth of food a day. Corn dogs, bologna sandwiches, cheap canned soup for dinner. This is unacceptable. The staff are untrained, rude, and lazy. The Executive Director is worthless to talk to. I have witnessed she spends most of her day outside smoking. After doing some investigations on this place, you can find a ton of state violations on the Michigan LARA website. They are currently under investigation for a lady dying from a fall off the front porch because she was unattended, left alone. So, if anyone was thinking of this place, I beg of you to go somewhere else. Your loved one deserves to be cared for with excellence, which you WILL NOT get here.

The place is a pig-sty, the caregiving degraded throughout 2017. We wound up moving our parent out of this facility. I would think twice, three times before committing someone here. And if you do, visit every day so you can keep tabs on what's going on.

Please I beg you to find your loved on another facility. The staff and nurses here try very hard to take care of the residents but its impossible with [Removed] running the company. He cuts the staff to the bare minimum. Normally it is 2 people taking care of 20 residents, one being the med passer who is expected to pass meds correctly and than perform all ADLs on residents. Everyone is overworked and burnt out. The good staff stays for the residents but get belittled by owner and management. Residents are left unchanged all shift because there is no time to change briefs. Bed sores are happening more often, more falls with injuries, more infections going around. [Removed] is hiring people off streets who have never worked in healthcare and throwing them on floor with no training. Its a revolving door there with care givers, directors, human resources, nurses. [Removed] raises rent without notice and expects it the following month. Hes raised rent 3 times in the past year and does not provide proper care to residents. He does not care about the residents nor does he know their names. He lacks empathy and should have never been allowed to run a home that cares for people. Its a very very sad place to be and work. Community looks nice but your loved one will be neglected.
