We have had connections with Meridian Living for a little over a year now, my sister n law is a resident there. We have been kept in formed of every matter & they have been so very helpful & we are so...
The staff are incredibly professional and based on the experience we have had so far, we would absolutely recommend The Orchard community to other families.
I chose Madison Home Place because it is the ONLY place that I didn't get a single negative comment about the staff. The food could use a little tweaking, but my main concern is the people that I have...
It's a great community, of course as everyone else at this time, the staffing shortages effect them too. So, be aware of that going in and don't have high expectations with staffing because everyone is...
They are not only helpful but very pleasant whenever you need something or whenever you meet them in the hall, dining room or wherever. The location of the facility is great!
King's Reserve is a Senior Independent Apartment. It is NOT a place to provide care or meals. It is strictly a 55+ apartment building. That being said I loved my apartment and my neighbors!! That staff did...
Everything was great. The staff was always pleasant & always answered any questions right away or found out the answers to the questions that they did not know. What stood out about Pinnacle was their...
The staff at the Goldton was amazing! I couldn’t have asked for a better experience while my grandmother was there. My grandmother went to assisted living on hospice care. We were only there for about a week...

They have had a turnover in directors, but I still give them a 4 rating overall. They are friendly, but I do think they could be more responsive. It is often the next day before we hear back from them or...
I wanted to place my father here due to the proximity of his healthcare providers. The entire staff has been amazing at shepherding my father through a difficult transition and multiple health crises. I am...
Staff is great but unfortunately short staffed as seems to be the norm for most places. The facility has a great layout and easy access to all parts. Pool table on the 2nd floor is a great activity for my...
The staff at Summerfield Senior Living of Gulfport are very friendly, they are also quick to call the family with medical emergencies and are just so well organized and put together. As far as the food...
Unlike assisted living communities, independent living communities in Mississippi aren’t licensed or regulated through the Mississippi State Department of Health. This is because independent living communities don’t provide caregiver assistance for things like bathing or dressing. About half of our partner independent living communities do offer assisted living, or assisted living and memory care, on the same campus. In these cases, those parts of the community do need a license.
Seniors in an independent living apartment can expect the following services without the community requiring a license:[01]
New residents will sign a lease or a contract with the community. This is similar to what you’d sign for an apartment, and you can expect to have the same renter’s rights. Look to the Landlord-Tenant Act for more details.
Since independent living caters to senior tenants, many communities are designed with accessibility features in mind. In Mississippi, you can expect an independent living community to follow these guidelines in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act:[02]
Independent living communities and other senior housing are able to cater to a senior audience through an exemption in the Fair Housing Act. The community must either be occupied only by people 62+ or have a tenant who is over 55 in 80% of the units.[02] For more information about ADA compliance features, refer to Mississippi’s fair housing and equal opportunity policy and procedures.
