No follow through

My parents haven’t been there long and won’t be for much longer. I want to be honest because if your concern is to get care for your parents it probably won’t happen on the regular. The nursing staff does not follow through on what their care level lays out and the head of nursing is unapproachable. As example: Twice so far has she laid blame on the nurse who was in charge before her but she’s not there anymore so clearly it’s not her fault things are not being done. My mom is aware and can tell me yes or no they didn’t do x y or z and we have had multiple discussions about my dads showers and still they didn’t do them. I don’t like the way they speak to my parents like they’re children and my mom Thinks they are disrespectful in their tones to her and dad. We were told how great they are at personalizing everything for every resident but it’s just words and no follow through. We have located a new facility.

Going down hill fast

We worked for years to get my loved one into this community. We trusted the people who brought us in. Since this Christmas we have gone through three resident nurse directors and three executive directors. The managers have all left and it is so unorganized there. I have caught the nursing staff in lies about my loved ones care. The managers are not professional or anpproachable anymore. I visit almost daily and I know the seniors that live there. They have expressed the same feeling as me, like you can’t get straight answers and there is no more warm feeling. They spend all their money to get a new dining room but obviously can’t afford good staff including the ones on the floor and the ones behind the desks. Don’t believe there lies when they tell you there is a nurse there overnight. There isn’t. Even there doctors that go there admit that it’s a train wreck. If I could give zero stars at this point I would.

Check everything out first

Our experience here wasn't great. Several other residents/families felt the same and were looking to move their loved one like we were. I understand the pandemic has played a huge part in added challenges for these facilities, but some of the things were still unacceptable. Meals were served cold a lot of times. Showers weren't being done as frequently as they should have been. My loved one's bathroom was dirty/soiled for 3 days before they cleaned it. The director was hardly ever there. They weren't keeping aides and nurses on duty like they should have been. So many things. I visited at least twice a week and saw these things on a regular basis. I visited around 6pm one day and there wasn't a nurse OR an aide on staff. It was concerning. One evening, my loved one's (who is diabetic) sugar got to an alarming level. They only had an aide there, she called the nurse and the nurse told her that they only give insulin to residents 3x a day and on a set schedule. They were so understaffed and things just weren't being ran as they should. I ended up moving him to another facility. I would not recommend them to family and friends.

Reality Does Not Match How They Portray Themselves

The general area is overall clean. However, my loved one's room was never cleaned by the staff during their stay. We ended up moving my loved one out of the community due to a medical condition. Overall we were very disappointed in the care my loved one received, as we were expecting more care than my loved one actually received. The process of shopping around or being "recruited" compared to moving in was two extreme sides of the spectrum.

If I could give them No stars, I would

1) Warehouse care - your loved one will be dressed and fed. What else will your loved one get? I have no idea. Do you know why? They are HORRIBLE at communication. Unless you hound them, they won't tell you what is happening. 2) SPRING HILL. NEVER PRESENTED US WITH A CARE PLAN! We requested one several weeks after my mother started living there, and we never heard from anyone. Nothing. 5) The memory care staff didn't seem to know how to deal with Alzheimer's. They stripped my mother's room of pretty much everything...including toilet paper. My mother no longer lives at Spring Hill. We moved her after two months. We gave this organization plenty of opportunities to deal with their lack of communication, putting together a plan, working with the issues of dealing with someone exhibiting Alzheimer's expressions, and they continually failed.

Would not recommend

I would tell others that the major problem that we had was that when my mother fell, she was to go here for physical therapy and needed some serious help with that. I was informed that she would get that and I found out that she did not get one day of therapy while she was here. I called to get the schedule and that is how I found out, they never bothered to tell me. At first they were great with communication and then it was very hard to get a call back and there was no follow up with care. We would call them while on the phone with my mom and no one would answer. I even called the director and she was unable to get a hold of the staff. They are short staffed, there was only 1 staff member for about 80 residents overnight. We did not have a good experience with Spring Hills Singing Woods and I would not recommend them to others.

Beautiful Building, but the level of care is poor.

The lobby is beautiful showcasing crystal chandeliers and a baby grand piano; however the caregivers and nursing staff are not so friendly and there is a high turnover with all. I had to move my father out of the memory care unit because his arms were bruised, feet were swollen from being on the floor all day and night and he needed to have his feet elevated at least a few hours a day or during the evening but they said, He refused. He has dementia so he needed someone to build rapport and trust. Too busy there to build rapport. I found my father soaked in urine and soiled clothing daily until I changed him. Only one caregiver was able to do so but he was very nervous there. I had to move him out as I could not continue to worry about my father having to feel nervous or agitated because the caregivers could not spend time building rapport and making him feel comfortable. Blisters from urine burning is skin, nurse did not have a thermometer to take his temp so I bought one. The monitor system they had on the wall in his room was not working, but it hung on the wall with a light on as if it were set up so when my dad fell out of bed due to a new drug that made him dizzy, he laid on the floor for over an hour without assistance. Very disturbing and stressful for me and my husband as well as my father. I moved him out and his feet are no longer swollen and the blisters have healed. The caregivers are not trained in dementia either. They are mean spirited and not the caring type that you would want to take care of your parent. It was just a paycheck to them. It was also hard to move him in, then have to move him out a year later. Be careful.

Bad experience

Awful. Service in the dining room can take up to one hour to get a simple sandwich. Recent outbreak of stomach flu most likely due to unsanitary conditions on the dining room. For those who are suffering with the flu waiting up to 2 hours to get any food delivered to their room. Nursing is not responsive to their care.

Involuntarily DISCHARGED after promised guaranteed medicaid bed

We moved our mother to Spring Hills in August 2013 and was told that she'd be guaranteed a Medicaid bed after spending her entire life savings there (they told us not to tell anyone about this agreement). Spring Hills assured us that they had the proper Memory Care programs available and we were comforted to know that our mother would receive the care she needed as her dementia worsened. Spring Hills assured us that this was the place for our mother. Instead, our mother was involuntarily DISCHARGED twenty months later after Spring Hills took almost the entirety of our mother's life savings, claiming they could no longer care for her. And they did not even tell us on the phone or in person, they sent a letter in the mail!! Spring Hills received the benefit of the agreement and our mother was thrown to the street. The employee turnover at this facility is insane. Every other week there was a new person calling us that we had never spoken to before, and they barely knew anything about our mother. She once went to the nurse's office complaining of shortened breath and they sent her to the hospital without contacting us, without sending her with her medications, with her medication list, or even with someone from Spring Hills!! That experience alone epitomizes how much they care about their residents. When we personally went to Spring Hills to get our mother's medical records, they refused to provide them to us because it was "after business hours." It was only 8 pm and our mother was sent to the hospital at 6 pm! They told us we could come back tomorrow and pay $1/page! After taking our mother's entire life savings they wanted even more money and did not care that the hospital needed this information for our mother's health!! I beg of anyone reading this review - before you place a loved one at Spring Hills, visit other communities. While this place looks nice and new, not only is the layout awful for the elderly, the staff is as well! The "care levels" they claim to have are all fake. They increased our mother's care level, charged us an additional $1,650/month, and never once sent a description of what the new care included. And even after that, they discharged her and kept charging for the care that they said they could no longer provide! The management of this facility repeatedly dodged our phone calls. They would send emails and we would call back immediately and they would not be there to speak. They even once allowed another resident's family to remove our mother from the facility and take her overnight without her medications and without informing us!! Spring Hills Cherry Hill is essentially a hotel with an all-you-can-eat cafeteria, claiming to offer services that they do not. Loved ones beware. You can do better than this place and your loved one deserves better.

Nightmare Experience

I had a nightmare experience with this home care agency. I was not expressed with the quality of care givers they sent me. They did not wanna work. When I asked one of the care givers to tidy up the restroom a little bit, she rose to her feet, and called the agency. They then called me to inform me that she is not allowed to do that. Which I think is ridiculous. Some of my appliances were broken by the caregivers. I had a horrible experience with this home care agency.

poor care

as of todays date there have been many issues over at Spring Hills with my loved one living there. I don't know if they are short staffed or what is actually going on over there. The directory and head nurse are new at there positions and since we moved our loved one in the care and reputation of Spring Hills has gone down. our loved one is getting a high rating level of care and quite frankly our loved one is not getting it. hot food served to the room and by the time our loved one wakes up it is stoned cold. the staff don't try to get our loved one up to start eating it while it is hot. have been there on many occasions and it is cold as can be. and then to get staff to reheat it is a chore also. have found our loved one in wet bed sheets, in the lounge chair wet not a good thing for elderly dementia patients. please ask questions and look over the facility better before u put your loved one at this location.
