Senior Star gives off a very nice first impression. The facility is clean and well- decorated. I think the staff is fantastic. For example, whenever my sister enters the building she is greeted warmly by the front desk. Courtney, the activity director at the Independent unit is A-one. She has creative ideas going on all the time. The residents can be busy with games, exercises, partys and crafts. They have a pool but the water is cold. They say they have transportation, but it is on their terms. There are a lot of complaints about the transportation. One lady was dropped off for a commitment, but told they would not be able to take her back. Now with that said, the drivers are just awesome. It is not their fault. They are told where and when they have to go each day. In addition to this, the food is not good and the quantities are very small, and this is a bid deal for older folks. There is no excuse for tough fish, 2 tiny barbecued ribs with 2 bites on each bone, and meat that is impossible to cut through. The worst is when they leave the table and are still hungry. I have heard this from several of the independent residents. It is important to note that some people have bigger appetites than others. When they ask for more, there is never any left. They do offer an alternative menu, however which includes hamburgers and other sandwiches which sis says are very tasty. The desserts always look good. To recap Senior Star is doing an ok job. I think the residents are tired of the transportation situation and the downward slide of the quality and quantity of the food.

My family and I didn't have the best experience with Senior Star at Elmore Place. The community was clean. However, the staff didn't follow the plan of care for our loved one. This is even after we mentioned to the staff our concerns. Overall, we were disappointed in our experience.

Apts are only available from 5th Floor on up. Focused clientele are high income retired professionals: business owners, doctors, attorneys, etc. Has spectacular views, but no grounds to enjoy walking, etc

I personally was not happy with the nursing staff who at my request visited my 89 year old mother in a local skilled nursing unit after she had fallen and fractured her pelvic in 2 places. This unit advised us that my mother needed to go to long term care, but once finding out that Wexford offered levels 3 & 4 in assisted living their head of nursing responded, interviewed my mother, talked to the skilled nursing unit, and then called me and told me how delightful my mother was and that they could handle all her needs. We responded to Wexford Place K C, toured the facility and ended up renting a studio apartment for their price and had to pay an additional $600 a month for her level 3 care which came to $4735, plus we had to pay a one time $2,000 community fee required for residents. We moved mom in on March around the 22nd, 2019, and on May 14, 2019 we received a certified letter from Wexford advising us that we had 30 days to find a care facility for mom due to the fact they couldn't handle her needs. After 7 weeks she is out and they will not refund our $2000 community fee so this leaves my family with the feeling that it is more about the money than what they could do regarding our mother who has a serious leg condition and is in a wheel chair. Really feel that this facility took advantage of not only my mother, but our family.

Not much Medical Help - AND They Are Raising Rents 4.5% YEARLY! If you have Lots And Lots of MOney it's good.

I stopped in to get information about the facility and was turned away by the concierge because everyone was "in a meeting". customer service and first impressions are important to me- and I was very unimpressed. The building is pretty though from what I could see from the lobby but it also felt very cold and closed off.

Assisted living was fine, but memory care was not. Help was very nice, place was nice, but they were understaffed. Several times I went in, esp. in the evening, you wouldn't see a staff member for 10+ mins. Residents falling often. After numerous falls and our 2nd serious fall, we didn't go back.

Do your research and ask hard questions before making a commitment. My father had special needs that did not get met, and within a week both sides realized that was not the place for him. The facility is VERY nice, but don't let that fool you!

They told us we could keep the doctor in Silvis, IL and after my parents moved in they said they couldn't do that; they left my Mom's pills on the counter and didn't make sure she took them; they told me they would put my Mom's hearing aids in and take them out at night and then told me there would be an additional charge of $[removed]per month; and they said they would empty trash every day and only emptied it after I called it to their attention after 4 days. I really should have called the state to report them.

What a nightmare, and ongoing. We moved my mother into the memory wing, and my stepfather into the independent living wing. Two people moved into a unit above my stepfather, they were making so much noise it’s rendered him unable to sleep and caused both a rise in his blood pressure, and other health problems. His attempts to fix the situation where met with skepticism, false promises, brazen lies, and no solution. This has been ongoing for six months. I was told repeatedly, including being lied to my face, that this situation was being “looked into.” It was not. Months later, I called the corporate Office in Tulsa, who promised to remediate the situation. There was one visit, a couple of phone calls, then ...crickets. My mother contracted scabies twice in under six months from the memory care facility. My stepfather is reasonable requests, to relocate, have been ignored and he was shamed for having made the request. I could go on. I have already made a complaint to the local ombudsman, I am about to make another. I’m really not the sort to complain, nor is my stepfather. Our experience getting any satisfaction from this organization has been hellish.

Moved my father from another facility ([removed]) that was HORRIBLE. No staff continuity. Big turn over rate. My fathers clothes were not getting changed. Medication issues. Too many screw ups. Didn't feel my father was safe there. I'm in medical field and saw some potential hazards to my father's well being! Wexford heard all my concerns from the previous ALF. They assured me they would be nothing like other. I had looked at 7 different facilities before finding 1st ALF ([removed]) Didn't see Wexford originally in my initial search since it was a little further from my home and I wanted to be close to my father. Wexford came HIGHLY recommended. Guess what... SAME ISSUES AT WEXFORD!! Big staff turn over. MULTIPLE MEDICATION ISSUES. Facility itself is beautiful. They have some great techs at first. most went from full-time to a need basis-PRN. Mostly due to poor management there. Had to meet with their corporate office multiple times with my concerns. They are making attempts to get my trust back but I'm not sure that will happen! They are working on strike 3 and I'm being generous!!

We used both the independent living, and the memory care here. I thought it would have better care, or at least pay better attention. They didn't really know her. It was not a good experience. The food wasn't very good. It's a beautiful facility and location, but that's not the important part. They don't communicate when they reassess, or raise prices and rates. They would hire a caregiver, and the next day they would be gone.
