Our family had an in person tour and all the staff members were very helpful and adhered to the covid protocols. We really did like this community, but location was just further away from family and our loved ones doctors office.

My mother was one of the first residents at Philomena and has had a wonderful experience. It's a beautiful facility with wonderful caring staff, and tasty meals. When Covid began Philomena staff had to take over all of my mother's care that I had been overseeing. I felt like they really knew my mom's needs and treated her in a loving manner. I know they worked very long hours going above and beyond what was their normal duties. I'm deeply grateful for the way they treated my mom and kept her healthy and safe. Now that I am able to return, she looks happy and healthy. She has been at Philomena for a little over a year and I know she considers it her home..

The community was great at taking care of my loved one. The administration was not as good or as friendly as the nurses. I would recommend you ask lots of questions, and make sure they tell you everything. They made it hard to get into the community to see my loved one. I feel the administration was looking at my loved one just as a payment.

The staff at the community have been great about keeping us informed during covid, and because of covid we have not really been able to see our loved ones room, but from what we can tell it looks to be really nice and roomy.

My family and I cannot thank the staff at Buda Oaks enough for all that was done to get our Dad into their facility during these unprecedented times. The move-in was well orchestrated and Dad felt instantly at home. He cannot say enough about the fresh, scratch-made food and is overwhelmed by the help and support provided by all members of the Buda Oaks staff. We feel very blessed.

This is a wonderful building not only is the building beautiful inside and out, it’s the staff that work in the building for the lovely residents. Most wonderful staff always greet you with a smile and always going above and beyond for whatever it is that you’re needing and asking for. They have the most amazing chef all the food that he prepares is gourmet it’s so delicious. I highly recommend this place even if you’re just driving out to stop in and say hi you will be thoroughly amazed.

My dad loves the food, the activities, and the staff. This period during Covid-19 has been very challenging for the residents, their families, and the staff. They have done a good job of keeping everyone safe and communicating with families.

They did not empty the trash often enough and the room was full of fruit flies. The food was pretty good. The staff was very good, always responsive. We did not have the opportunity to participate in the activities. I would recommend this community to other families! You just have to keep an eye on the trash. It was awesome to have a Walmart right there for anything we needed. And the location, right off 35 was great for family, no matter if they were coming from north or south. I probably should have rated cleanliness higher. The facility itself was beautiful, until you went into my brother in law's room and had to do battle with the bugs. It was awful. He had it very hot in the room, and he was wearing diapers, and he had bits of food they'd brought him either on his tray or in the trash. So maybe I'd suggest buying covered trash cans instead of open. Maybe that would help. I don't know. Because they didn't empty the trash often enough.

I would give all 4s across the board. I know the least about activities, because my uncle tends to not participate. He is often bored (but much less so than when he lived alone!) Overall I am extremely relieved that he is there. I know he is safe. The staff is very patient with his antics. He really does seem to enjoy the food. The service they provide is definitely worth the cost in my opinion.

I would probably say that no where is perfect but everything at Philomena is satisfactory and they seem to want to make everyone's experience a good one. It's a nice, cheery facility and the rooms are comfortable. The executive staff seemed more willing to accommodate my mom's needs. They were very accepting of her.

Very nice place with a very nice and friendly staff. The place is decorated beautifully. More upscale dining room look. And the staff seems very friendly & knowledgeable. And a Buda Oaks without our knowledge, we now have three other long-term family friends that are there that we did not know were there and one of the gentlemen who conduct some of the activities is actually a distant family member and does a great job entertaining everyone w/ musical activities.

Most of the employees are friendly and professional. The ED was extremely friendly before we signed with Philomena. Afterwards, it seemed as though we didn’t exist. Any issues we have had were corrected.

The location was ideal for us. The decor and cleanliness of the facility was what I felt my mom would have selected. I feel that it would have been nice to have a checklist for move-in for memory care. i.e. A list of suggested and mandatory items on the checklist.

My brother in law was quite ill in the final stage of cancer when we moved him to SOCO Village. He was not mobile and required the highest level of care available. He was also a bit paranoid because of his illness and the medication he had to be on. So, he was not an easy resident. The staff at SOCO always responded to our calls and texts regarding his care, even in the middle of the night,, which was a comfort. We felt they really cared and tried their best for him. They have many activities for the residents which unfortunately my b-in-law wasn't able to participate. The food was pretty good. Really the only complaint I'd have was that the trash wasn't emptied often enough. Our minister visited him early on and commented on the smell in the room, which was embarrassing. And at the end, when all the family was visiting daily, the room was full of fruit flies. I would recommend SOCO Village to friends, but keep an eye on the trash situation.

My loved one was previously a resident at SoCo Village and the overall experience was okay. It is a newer facility, however, it is in a busy intersection part of the city and there were lots of homeless around so it didn't feel completely safe when my loved one ventured off from SoCo. There weren't many food/grocery/restaurant options nearby that felt completely safe. My biggest complaint was staff turnover, in all areas, which lead to shortages of all kinds.

We moved my mon out after 4 months because we decided it was better to keep her home with us. The facility was nice. The director back then was slow to respond, but I don't know if she's still there because it has been over 15 months since we moved my mom back home. [name removed] was a prominent staff member that was phenomenal! The food & housekeeping were wonderful, however it was expensive.

Right as Mom moved in the Exec. Dir. was replaced. Several of the issues discussed with the previous E.D. have not been accurate. Our issues: 1)They do not make the beds everyday as we were told. 2)Laundry is not picked up on the same day each week, occasionally not at all. 3) The few movies they have played in their small theater have not been of interest to elderly. 4) They do not recycle. The food was exceptional at first, but is not always even room temperature. A new chef has been hired; several changes have been tried. Overall, it is the best. We have had a number of issues; but still feel it is the best. Bright, clean, and friendly staff! The staff is great. We especially like [name removed] who runs the front office. She is always friendly, and she follows through on promises!

More staff needed. Food still is better than anywhere else we saw. My mothers health has improved a ton since she has been there, but she is now self-managing meds because they could not seem to stay consistent in keeping them stocked and delivered at the proper times. But we experienced the same thing in Houston at what was supposed to be the #1 rated assisted living place in the Houston area. Centrally located if you live in Austin and want them nearby. Still very happy she is there and that we picked this one.
