I have lived here at Destinations Spring Valley for almost two years. I have met some very nice people, and made some great friends. The office staff ,maintenance and groundsman do a great job .Our new manager [name removed] has made some good changes here. [Name removed] our activity coordinator has been keeping us busy here with things to do at home. Thank you all. I am very happy here , and hope to renew my lease very soon.

New staff is outstanding takes sincere interest in our interests! The activities are always interesting and the try to involve everyone in all the activities! My only request is that they have recycling. Several people have moved out to other apartments and I was speaking to them and they realized they made a mistake. Nice facility, nice gym and well stocked library . Need to clean carpets!

I moved here about 11 months ago and I am happy. Like anywhere else it is not 100% perfect all of the time. But I have ran my own business for 52 years and this one is doing a great job. The Manager makes herself available if you need to talk and her team works very hard too. The place is clean, the office is open when it is supposed to be and we have lots to do if we want to take part. My home is prettier than anywhere I have ever lived before and I am proud to be here. I received my renewal letter today. I was happy to see that they aren't charging me an arm and leg if I want to stay. Some of my neighbors can be crotchety but it is 62 and older. On the plus side I don't live with college kids partying or listen to screaming babies all night long. So it is give and take. Bottom line is this is a good place. It isn't cheap but nothing in Fairfax County is cheap.

I have met the most friendly group of people here. it has been a happy move for me.

The staff here is excellent and I have a really nice apartment. I have a 1 bedroom and 1 ½ bath with a good sized laundry room. It’s very spacious and it has a full sized washer and dryer. Everyone here is very personable and warm. They do offer a lot of activities like exercise classes with yoga and tai chi, bridge club, and a book club. What I really like is everyone here is really relaxed. We even have a wine, cheese, and crackers night twice a month. The only complaint I have is the showers are a little too small and they have a shelf that I always hit my head on. I would recommend this community to other families.

My father-in-law did two tours here the one with me went great and the one with his daughter not so good as they were given different information than what he got on his tour with me. My father-in-law liked the fact that there were more men here and that they did a lot to honor the vets who were living there. They do have a pool but it was outside so he could not use it year round, there was a nice exercise room as well. The grounds are well kept and the rooms were nice sized. They do allow pets so his cat would be able to move in with him. But in the end, my father-in-law felt this was just not going to be a good fit.

This community is classy and less expensive than the community I currently live at. The grounds are beautiful. This community has only been open about a year. They offer everything I could want. My apartment is spacious and offers a washer and dryer. They have dry cleaners that come in twice a week. The people I have met so far have been nice. This community is in a good location for me

I received a return call from A Place For Mom with a very helpful gentleman who listened to the needs I had for my Mom. She has lived in the same place for 50 years but as a single person it was overwhelming to take care of. I wanted my Mom to have a nice environment with planned activities she could join and peers she could make friends with. Much of what I found when searching for retirement lifestyle was convalescent living. My Mom is still vibrant, active and social so I wanted for her a place where she could enjoy the next chapter of her life. San Sebastian was suggested to us and it turned out to be the perfect fit for her. She selected the largest apartment available since she was downsizing from a very large house. It is like brand new, move-in ready with the most cheerful staff. As soon as we walked in, we felt comfortable and welcome. I know my Mom will love her new home at San Sebastian. Thank you to A Place For Mom for directing us to this wonderful location.

This place provides quality care, and at a very good value. It's a nice looking place, the staff are very friendly and they keep it nice and clean. We were pleased with all of the services and amenities that they provide. They did seem a little short staffed at times. The other issue we had is that they seemed to be better at communicating on paper than in person. They sent out lots of informative information, but I felt like when I asked questions in person they didn't always have answers for me immediately, or I felt like my comments weren't making it any further than the person I spoke to.

The residents that live here. There are very active residents, some not so active, & some who don't get involved at all. But I find everyone welcoming to all who live here. This is not so in other similar communities. Arietta has fabulous apartments with wonderful closet space you rarely find , plus wonderful sized terraces one normally doesn't find in these types of Senior apps, however for me my main reason was the existing resident population that was there each time I visited. Their attitudes made the difference in my decision.

All of the staff are professional and courteous. However, on a couple of occasions, one of the staff members didn't seem to remember my mom, and she wasn't friendly, and my mom noticed. She now recognizes my mom and is much better. There are plenty of activities. This is a place for moms or parents would have to know how to still fend for themselves.

The first 3-4 months were not bad except they were not able to keep the pool open due to mechanical problems. Then they changed management and we lost some exercise/fitness programs. The first of the year they changed management again! Lost more programs! Not at all what was advertised!

Friendly folks and a lot of veterans here that knows what I'm going thru. I have two other vets coming over soon as their leases are up

The new staff is doing a fantastic job People are great look out for each other. There are a lot of walkers and scooters and the community is not prepared for them fyi However, yes I would recommend the community to other families.

They can really improve the food which they are doing little by little. However, what I like the most about the community is the people and yes, I do recommend this community to other families.

I’m disappointed in the laxity of Overture to accept or retain seniors who are less than independent. I had a quick tour and only encountered 3 other residents because it was during Christmas holidays when most were out for the holidays. One of those I met was in pajamas. I gave her the benefit of doubt. As residents returned, I saw most of them relying on walkers. Most no longer drive, and their prognosis is non- improvement. Only one person actually bounced back from dependence to independence.. Many have daily living assistants who come to stay daily to do therapy 2-3 of those are actually their relatives. Only one man and one lady are truly “active “ like myself. I’m just 71 and feeling very out of place. I’m held to a 13 month lease. Planned activities are tailored to the majority whose life-stage is beyond mine. Management is very kind and even condescending. I take full responsibility for my (uninformed) decision.

Overture is for independent living adults. There is no regular meal preparation. So much depends on the Individual and their needs and capabilities. For me I am independent and can do for myself. I don't want full time meal service and nursing checks. I enjoy having an active community to interact with. I can use my own car for errands and Dr. appointments or use other commercial transportation. I feel like I have more choices at Overture therefore less expensive.

They cut food and activities. The staff was excellent, but most were laid off with the change. Haven't really had a chance to meet new staff yet. Sommerset just changed ownership and removed a lot of accommodations. It is now called [community removed].

Administration is poor, they keep deleting services they used to provide but still charge the same, not friendly to complaints. But the residents are great which is why many people stay despite the facility going steadily downhill.
