Five Star Senior Living

I don't have experience with a lot of places so it's hard for me to rate The Forum. It could be worse but it could be a little better. There are comments from some of the residents who are quick to criticize and there is the head nurse who threatens to move you to assisted living. The nursing staff is somewhat agressive to make sure you're completely independent. My mother, who had a stroke, wore sneakers into the dining room and it took less than 4 days for someone to criticize her for that. That is not apporpriate. This place had a good reputation and it was quite convenient for my family. We started off with my mom in skilled care and my dad in independent living. My mom was basically sitting by herself in a room with no therapist for 3 days so we moved her to the independent apartment and arranged for our own 24hr care. I think it's very well maintained and they're good people. The mainentance and the front desk people were pleasant and helpful but in delivering the care you might need to be your own advocate. I'm glad I went with The Forum.

The staff is really friendly and the community is very clean. They could offer a bigger variety of activities for the residents but overall it is a pretty good community that we are happy with.

This place is 5th on my list. There was a cluttered feel throughout the building. Liked the dining flexibility. Room and board reasonable;however, the Care Level and Med Management fees are high. When everything is added together it is still less than what Mom is paying now.

Very nice facility; I like the layout and the atmosphere. Staff and residents seem happy and friendly. Staff seem well trained and good with residents. Prices are high though, relative to other similar places (if I did my math right).

I had previously been to Heartland Senior Living Village when my daughter's Girl Scout troop had performances there. When I needed a place for my mom I went back there and liked it. My mom is still adjusting but she has already made some friends.

We chose this community because it was the only assisted living community that offered a full apartment rather then just a room or two. My parents moved into a full two bedroom apartment and they are really enjoying themselves. I have had lunch with my parents many times and each time the food is really good and full of flavor. The community is really beautiful lots of shrubbery, flowers and trees around the community. I would highly recommend this community.

Great price! The price is in the lower price margin but still pretty good. The majority of the people are very nice and responsive. The people have been very accommodating making changes to help make things more comfortable for her. She is still getting used to everything. The grounds are very nice.

Mom spent time at the Forum. good place but J doesn't want to drive down there.

I actually saw this place a few months ago. very nice and too expensive.

nice hallways, decorations not overdone, reminiscent of Spring Arbor, no code for getting in memory unit, code for getting out, residents do not hear the alarm (a plus for me), alarm is at nurse's station and downstairs, doctors come in to building, would have to take mom out for dentist, aging in place, pee smell by some rooms as we entered the memory care unit, cleaning was occurring at same time, apt was great, prime location for mom, right at nurses' station and dining area, could put lift chair in common area for mom to sit in. Executive Director was very responsive to care concerns and seemed understanding of concerns and needs.

Independant and Assisted Living. First rate large facility Beautiful courtyard with awesome trees and a pond for fishing. Location is approximately 20 miles from house. Staff extremely friendly. Same basic service as the others. Cable, telephone and internet are not part of the fee. All transportation provided. Assisted living is on first floor and Independent on 2nd and 3rd floor.There also small 2BR villas on the pond and they are very nice. There are 1 and 2 BR apartments for independent living and the assisted living rooms are laid out just like the apartments. Good possibility. 1 BR $2513 / mo, + care, 10+ meds $350/mo. If she declines while living there, they keep her. Dayton and Parker - out by Dad. Not sure how neighborhood is...

Very nice facility. Multi story building with common areas on first floor and rooms on upper 2 floors. Room sizes adequate.

This is the 1st place we toured and we were pleasantly surprised. One of our concerns however was that they were more like apartments and we're concerned that my mother-in-law will stay in her room 24/7 because of the closed door situation. I would be more comfortable with an open door policy so residents can be peeked in on just by walking by and feel that she will be more apt to socialize with an open door and also be less apt to socialize with a closed door. That said, the room itself and the overall environment was very nice.

Very clean, friendly staff and owners. Residents well groomed and cared for. Nice dining area, common areas, gardens. Negative - location. Raquel very prepared and informative.

Independent 1bd /2 people $2250 in the 2 story Terrace bdg. incl phone+ cable, $500 nonrefund. fee. Terrace is the same bdg. as dining incl. one meal/day for two people serving all day. Meals $5 each after the 2/day. Indoor heated pool. 11 acreas Full kitchen. No patio/balcony, grassy areas where residents walk out from their rms and sit 'not a lot of rules' Big windows in lvgm/bdrm.

Great place that deserves some serious consideration. It's much cheaper than the Heritage although the location isn't as pretty. There are 2 ponds and some nice walking paths so you would have access to nature. The building is huge and there is an indoor and outdoor walking club which my Mom thought was wonderful. She met one lady in the gym working out and they hit it off immediately. The bus is terrific--going to a variety of places in the community and residents can order a trip almost anywhere within a 10 mile radius (that could help with the lack of amenities within walking distance.) The rooms are a bit cheesy--total Brady Bunch decor with no plans to update. I was surprised by that. No ovens in the room but mom felt like she could live without that. They accept dogs. The health care is provided by outside company but they are on the premises.

This is my favorite I've toured so far. It was Bright, busy, residents were active. Lot's of sensory and activities going on as well as scehduled. Staff that i met were pleasant. One room available now. Uses Montisouri boxes, backed up what they advertised or said they do.

We visited Classic Residence and we liked it.
