need regular communication with director of facility in a group setting . director needs to be involved on a daily basis

I toured Novel Place Blue Spring, and at the time we thought the added care would be better at the community we chose. The deciding factor between the two was the call pendant that the other community provided; whereas Novel did not.

The staff has been incredibly helpful, friendly, and willing to work with us. We had to pay for some of my loved one's expenses because her Social Security wasn't available until the middle of the month, so they've worked with us getting that taken care of with our credit card instead of hers. Anytime we've reached out to them or asked for clarification, they've been quick to respond. Everyone is just so friendly. My loved one is very happy with the quality of the food. It's fresh and tastes like restaurant quality. We just wish they offered three meals a day instead of two - a continental breakfast and dinner. The units themselves are very nice and essentially brand new. Hers has a very nice full kitchen, which is great for people who are self sufficient. And in her case, it has given her more drive to be a little more active and go outside of her comfort zone because she's cooking her lunches for herself and therefore standing and walking around more than she would otherwise. She's so happy there, and the cost with the promotion they were running was an incredible deal.

I think the staff is friendly, but I also think that there is difficulty in keeping consistency with the staff. There has been some turnover. There are a few on staff that have been terrific, and there are a few that maybe aren't permanent. And it seems like there's not good communication between leadership and them about what their responsibilities are. The living spaces are nice and large, and the housekeeping staff is excellent. Cleanliness of the common areas is great as well. My loved one is not as happy with the food as she was at a previous place that she lived. Her main complaint is the vegetables are overcooked and mushy. She would also like to see more green salads and more variety in general.

I think the location is great, it is right next door to a grocery store and restaurants. That has been one of the biggest plus's for me. I have a 1 bedroom with a den and it is comfortable for what I need. I would recommend to others looking, especially if you are more independent and able to get around on your own.

It's a very quiet community, and very open. The people are very pleasant, especially the residents. We haven't had too many issues with anything. My loved one tends to stay in her apartment due to health issues. I love the apartment. For her, it's easy to get around in. Everything is accessible to her. Really the only issue is the food. If you need food delivered to your apartment, they can do that for an extra charge. You just have to fill out a menu on a Tuesday for the following week. I did that for her Thanksgiving meal and then followed up afterward to make sure everything was squared away. But they missed her meal delivery on Thanksgiving day. When they finally got it to her, she felt like it was a bunch of leftovers, which was disappointing to her on a holiday. She just doesn't care for the food overall and says it's really bland. I ate with her one day, and we had tamales, chips and salsa, and a salad. I thought it was pretty good. But I'm not the one eating there every day. Overall I think it's a wonderful place. And the cost is great compared to assisted living. For independent living, they have a lot of activities and outings, and it's a great option for seniors who are more active/mobile.

The staff is warm and friendly. Mom speaks very highly about how kind everyone is. They are short-handed due to COVID so the service can be slow at times.

Good community, just not the right fit for my mom.

They seem to be on top of things. They have tight security and Covid precautions were all in place and followed well. They provided good services and the staff are excellent, but they're just understaffed. Especially during the night shift. They were lacking people and quality of people at night. The food was okay, just a little monotonous. They had a fair amount of activities, bingo and all that. I think the cost is pretty fair compared to other places out there.

I would highly recommend the community to others for their loved ones. The staff and residents are nice and friendly. It has a casual atmosphere. Some of the activities are live music, cocktail parties, art, movies, games, and more for the residents to choose from.

Overall, I think they are doing a good job. The caregivers are all very caring and open with things. in general, the nurses, the administration, and all the staff are wonderful. The only issue we are dealing with is they are not as communicative as they could be. For example, my mother falls a lot, and although they do take actions to prevent the falls, they only contact us for major falls and not the minor ones. It is also difficult to get information about her health, which is very frustration for us. I will say that they have been responsive to working with us to remedy the communicate issues, which is a positive.

Definitely In the running. we really liked everything about this place and felt so welcome. [Name removed] was AMAZING! Saw the facility that can accommodate both my parents needs. Con is the waiting list. (Possible 90 days or more)

We enjoyed [name removed] meeting and tour with us. She answered most of our questions thoroughly. The facility appears well kept and the staff we did meet were friendly. As this was our first tour, we have nothing to compare it to at this point..

My mom is in this smaller community she has a cute studio. I have mixed emotions. But they have been very understaffed and I've made several complaints because they say her call light was broke. [removed] has been a big help, when I couldn’t reach corporate I called her and she helped me get in touch with them. So 1 day she called for an hour and a half to use the restroom and she finally did it herself and could have fallen. So they said her call light was fixed but it happened again and she had fallen and used call light and laid on the floor for 30-45 min and noone came luckily she crawled to her cell phone at 90 yrs old and called the front desk. I just feel that is negligent and can be fixed. The facility itself is nice and her room is always clean they will do her laundry and make her bed. She gets 3 good meals a day. They will try to engage her with the activities.

A Place for Mom was so wonderful for me during this time in finding this great community for my parents. I like that there is a nurse on staff and they are very responsive to everything my parents need. And they regulate their meds which was important to me. The food is wonderful too. There are so many activities that they join in my dad loves playing poker and my mom loves doing the class volleyball with balloons and of course both enjoy the Friday Happy Hour! Mom is getting her hair done again. They look good and feel good here. Everything stays so clean and well maintained, I would recommend this place and have already referred A Place for Mom to one of my close friends.

PROS- Very new- Opened in May 2017. [Removed] was delightful. Darling Bistro upon entering. 1BR is roomy, w Juliette balcony. and very nice. Competitive pricing. Has only 30+ residents- "25+ in process of moving in". Intimate foyer and dining (restaurant style) Exercise classes every morning- chair yoga, light weights... "VIVA Program"- healthy lifestyle plan sounds good but not really set up. Salon on site open 1 day a week. $1,000 deposit to hold room applied to rent. Meds included in price (pre-packed by pharmacy in locked box in each room- given by Nursing Assistant. Each resident given Life Alert pendant. Residents are checked on 4x a day. 5 minutes from LBS- Miller & Rand- close to her friends ([Removed]). After 2 years residency, they accept Medicare/Medicaid- no others do this. CONS- No Memory Care. Still getting set up- Bistro not opened, no bridge group "yet", "Getting" rescue dog when have more residents. 120+ rooms- have 30+ residents, 25+ "still moving in". No Library on site. Some but not much outdoor seating. Nursing 7 days a week during day. NA 24/7. OVERALL- I Liked it a lot, but is no Memory Care a deal breaker?? Also, it needs more time to be get "established" and kinks worked out before I'd see Mom there. We can check it again when it is time to move Mom.

We liked this community and had put down a deposit, unfortunately due to some health issues my loved one was not able to move into this community. I did have a minor issue with the marketing person about them not moving in, however I contacted the wonderful director and they took care of the situation. The community is nice and the rest of the staff I met were friendly and helpful.

This community was a little larger than what we were looking for. It seemed to be for more independent people. It is an older yet clean community and the staff were nice.
