Faulk Manor is going through renovations. They are understaffed and communication with them is poor. Nevertheless we put mom here. She is in memory care. One day we called to let them know we were having lunch with mom that day. When we arrived we let the staff know that we called ahead and we were seated in the dining room with mom. A few minutes later we were asked to leave because apparently we were seated in the wrong place and they didn't have enough food for us. We found that experience to be incredibly rude. On another day we took mom down to a musical activity on the 1st floor. The activity was cancelled because of lack of attendance.

Good community. They had smaller kitchenettes and the community was in need of some renovations.

My loved one just picked another community. I liked this community actually better than the community that my loved one went with but in the end of things I had to go with my loved ones wishes.

The place was kind of run-down. They show us an unfinished cottage and the parking was just to far for my mom.

desnt place still warming up

The transition is a really big part but they could do a better job with communication, Its been a good place but there is room for improvement. The food could be better. More programs for the residents would be more beneficial.

Frustration at FMN

I like that I have an independent cottage where I could bring my dogs, which was hard to find. There's a dog park right next door and a library, which is nice. Some things about independent living are frustrating. For instance, they're not able to things like take your blood pressure. Activities are getting better, considering the pandemic. They can be evasive/vague with communication to the residents. They've also seemed unconcerned with a common area porch that needs attention. There are things they say they'll do that are not done on time. The food is lacking in variety - chicken pretty much every night, and they give fancy titles to ordinary dishes. They do have a residential council meeting each month where the residents can voice their concerns. But I don't feel like any of the residents actually do voice their concerns.

The lady who gave us our tour was not prepared, which wasn't a big issue. I couldn't believe they wanted to charge almost $7,000 for an apartment that was smaller than a studio. The community wasn't very updated. The independent section was nice but the assisted living part needs some TLC.

Not impressed

We used Shipley Manor briefly for rehab care for a loved one, and overall I was not impressed. The care services seemed uncoordinated, and they seemed more focused on convincing us to convert her to a full time resident than helping her to recover.

The rooms aren't as nice and the place isn't updated. They don't offer very many floor plans. The staff is friendly but not as friendly as smaller places. It's like a big college campus as opposed to a small college campus or small town feel.

When I visited Foulk Manor North I did not have a good experience. The staff was yelling down the hallway to talk to other staff members, which made it very confusing. The community does not have a good layout for the Alzheimer unit just seems like it would be confusing for them. Was not what I needed for my loved one.

Visitingy loved one

Staff is very friendly while visiting but not so much when alone with the patients! We have been lied to by a CNA or Tech. Told us She was up and dressed and must have gotten undressed and back in bed. We knew this was obviously a lie due to the timing envolved and her condition.

I visit there about once a week. There is a storage closet on the right side of the hallway and there is a recessive cpr manakin laying/sitting in a chair that looks like a resident that has been put in the closet and or passed out! It is very alarming and unexpected as you walk by. My Mom's room is dusty all the time with garbage underneath tabels and floor needs to be vaccuumed. Bathroom in room needs a paint job, face lift of some kind. The activities are great-happy hour-dining services.

Not worth the money

The food is terrible unless you eat at the restaurants. The dirty clothes that they are supposed to wash often disappear. Not sure if someone steals them or if they get go to another room.

Millcroft Living Assessment

Overall, the cleanliness was good. There was a distance to the kitchen, and often they brought my food. The food was okay. It was sometimes the wrong food, although I got three meals per day. If they made changes, it would be a better facility. Some of the residents seemed to like the community. The heating system could also be improved.

Friendship Village was too big for us, there would be a lot of walking. They did not seem as focused on the needs of the person. For example the gal showing us around who had been there a long time could not answer some of the simple questions that we had. The facility itself also looked outdated.
