Rude management

We first want to start off by saying overall we are very happy here in Haverhill Crossings. Mom has adjusted well she likes the other folks she lives with within the building. Food ,girls in the dining room Exedra all fine. The care mom gets is great. Laundry could be better but I think that happens everywhere. Our issue is with housekeeping. We have asked several times to have moms bathroom cleaned. Situation got better but now housekeeping non-existent again. When we approached the supervisor he told us we are doing the best we can only so many hours in a day and you will have to wait your turn. Not the first time

Avoid!

I had my mother live here for 4 months. They make a good sales pitch, but fall very short in delivery. Within two weeks they suggested I hire a private one-on-one for my mother because the staff couldn't care for her. The issue was not my mother (since she lived in two other assisted living facilities with no problems before this) - the issue is lack of properly trained staff to redirect typical dementia behaviors (even though they present themselves as specializing in this). They also sent my mother out to the ER twice - once because a staff member didn't have the skill to redirect her and the second time because she had a UTI because they didn't toilet her enough. This is a recurring problem here - this was confirmed by the medical team that works with the Atrium. The last straw was when I discovered bruises all over my mother and they denied any responsibility and I even caught them in a lie trying to cover themselves - we moved out immediately. My mother is in a much better assisted living facility now and has no issues what so ever. Please don't fall for the sales pitch - this place is terrible. They don't have the trained staff to handle dementia residents and the Resident Care Director is very incompetent.

Administration will slander you

Beware , if you try to bring a family member home , you will get slandered by the administration, making it difficult to get another doctor. Any attempt at removal will be viewed as " against medical advice" . and lots of them bad mouthing your ability to provide care to anyone they can contact...not just your potential new dr, but ANY family members , landlords , employers. The administration is allll about keeping those beds filled, and once they have a patient they wont let them go till the day the money runs out. If i was rich, i would sue them all day long.

Not as expected

We are looking for a nice place for mom,and Haverhill Crossings was recommended. First impression was good, landscaped nicely etc. During our tour we noticed dirty walls, carpet, strong smell of urine. Housekeepers observed gossiping in the hallway, then scattered as we approached..Had lunch in a nice room dining area, waitress was adorable, and the food was very good, chowder and a Caesar Salad..for the price you could do better elsewhere..

False promises

Worst decision ever made. Poor management, the director seems inept at best. Mom's apartment is filthy, when we visit unannounced the staff seems surprised and tells us she has been "difficult" this a.m. Is that any excuse to ignore.?Never a straight answer from Director, always defers to another manager who is always to busy for us..Our mistake. We should have noticed the heavy smell of Lysol, facility is smelly and dingy when you visit before housekeeping arrives. One plus the fresh muffins and coffee supplied by the kitchen staff

They do not work well with care teams and elder planners.

Visited to organize a meeting with the staff member responsible for discharges, as I am a senior manager for a Home Care agency and aside from providing lists of services to businesses like this one, I keep a log of rehabs, nursing homes, etc to help in elder care planning with clients who live in New London and Lower Middlesex counties. While the receptionist was wonderful in helping me, a short, white-short haired woman rudely shooed me away as wasting their time, although she was not at all included in the conversation. She told me if I was worth their time, they'll call me. It was disgusting. I will most certainly not be recommending this facility to my clients, as clearly they do not work well with elder care planners and this isn't the type of attitude any elder would need in their time of great need. I pride myself in providing the best locations for my clients to recover in, this one's attitude is the worst in the New London County and as an elder planner- I can only say A V O I D it.

Lack of conscience. Breach of trust!

My father resided in the memory care unit of this facility for seven months, during which time his glaases were lost or [Removed] and we were not informed. Since we live out of state, he apparently could not see for over two months. Additionally, four teeth were missing in his right upper arch, that were perfectly healthy when he left home a few months before. We were unable to determine what had transpired. Dad also deteriorated emotinally. On one occasion we visited him on a Saturday and they could not locate him. Every time we spoke...and the staff made contact difficult...he was frightened and agitated. Dad was recently relocated to another facility. He is happy and relaxed...such a relief! We are easily able to communicate with him, check with staff regarding his physical and emotional health. Sunrise has a lovely facade...and facade is the appropriate description.

Very Unhappy!

We are very unhappy with Sanctuary Care. The high turnover of staff is unacceptable. They lock the patients in their rooms at night, the aides hide in closets because they are afraid of some of the residents. At our family meeting we all decided that it was necessary to bring in a hospital bed. It took 2 months to finally have a bed brought in - unacceptable. They don't have enough staff. Many families are very disappointed not only our family. Dementia is a very sad disease and this facility only makes it harder for the residents and families. We have to barely give 1 star.

My review of Sunrise of Stamford

If you are looking for a loving, caring facility that promotes and encourages close connections between the immediate family and residents then DON'T SEND THEM TO SUNRISE OF STAMFORD. Two weeks before my mother died, I called their staff to inquire as to how she was doing (I live out of state so could not easily visit my Mom), since I sensed the end was near, and got an e-mail -- not a return call -- informing me that they could not provide me with any information since I, as my Mom's only son, could not receive any information because I was not on the "responsible party list." Even worse, a year ago they imposed a visitation ban on my Mom at the insistence of her health proxy. Those are the facts. You decide if you think that is acceptable.

Stay far away!!

This senior living home looks nice on the outside but is a terrible place to live!! I personally know of someone who lived here and had a terrible experience. The other positive reviews must come from the employees! Not only is living here expensive but you will not be treated with respect- I would recommend anyone looking for a home for their grandparents or mother/father to look elsewhere! The staff working here are nothing but a bunch of liars just looking to take your money. I will make sure to tell everyone I know not to live here.

Terrible experience!

The experience that we had a Sanctuary Care was terrible. The staff turnover is extremely high. They have gone through three executive directors. The food is terrible. Residents only receive water or watered down juice. The residents are locked in their rooms at night since they don't have enough staff during the evenings. Please don't let the outside fool you. These poor residents are not taken care of properly, with the turnover so high, they do not know the residents! Residents sit in urine soaked clothes, lie in beds for hours. Evening activities are sitting in front of a tv with no staff member close by.

concerned son

Huge staff turnover. Always short staffed. Have been hearing for months with the new management it is going to change. Trying to set-up a meeting with the director is nearly impossible as she does a great job of avoidance.

Not even worth 1 star!

Don't let the beautiful building fool you!!! At first Sanctuary Care was a good fit for my parent (and they were there over 1 1/2 years). They seemed happy and well cared for in the beginning. That all changed June of 2015 when a new management team was brought in and everything started to go down hill. First the director started firing all the good staff, or they were quitting because of the way some residents were being treated . In August the director of Nursing was fired and that is when everything starting to go down hill fast. Other nurses and LNAs started to quit and soon they were very understaffed. In Sept/Oct families were all brought in to meetings with the Director, Laurie [Removed] and told prices were increasing, with no written notice which violated the signed contract each family had with Sanctuary Care. My loved ones price was raised dramatically, thousands of dollars! Then they started charging families for incontinence supplies which had previously been included in the care cost. We felt trapped and didn't know what to do and Sanctuary Care assured us that my parent would get excellent care for the new very high price we were paying. More and more every time I would go in my parent was not clean, pants were wet, was left to sleep until noon and missing meals, started loosing weight and the bedroom was not being cleaned or vacuumed very much. It broke my heart because I felt like I was wasting my parent's hard earned money and they weren't even getting half of the care that they were paying for. By December our family had had enough and we moved our loved one. It's my understanding this place is now under investigation. If you are considering this place or any place for that matter, please call the NH ombudsman to find out if you can get more information on Sanctuary Care. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE!!!! Horrible, I only gave it 1/2 a star because I had to give it something, but Sanctuary Care deserves zero stars!!!!

STAY AWAY!!!!!

Simply put,,,disgusting! The new Executive Director is never in the building and is basically non existent. I don't know about you but if your own Administrator doesn't feel the need to be in the building on a regular basis, then how can the care be any good? How does the parent company allow this to happen? We just had my mother there for a Respite stay and I could not wait to get her out fast enough. We had a family friend stop by to visit her one day and she look like a mess. Her hair was dirty and unkempt. Her clothes were covered with food and she smelled of urine. Thank you LCB for taking my money but opening my eyes to your business practices. You may never see me again but I will be sure to pass on my experience

Stuck in a place she hates after they got all her money

I had not visited my aunt here for about 18 months. What a difference a year and a half makes! The place has gone downhill fast. It is so dirty and the maintenance is terrible. I called to ask that someone come to fix her leaky sink. I was there an entire week and no one came. Her friends told me that same thing-that no one comes to fix anything when they ask for it. They also said there is a real problem with bugs. There are a lot of staff that have left over the last year, too. People my aunt really liked. Of course, they made sure they got all her money coming in the door, so she can't move anywhere else. She is stuck there with no hope for any improvement. I feel so sorry for her and her friends.

I think this place is way over priced for what they provide to their residents. A lot has seem to fall through the cracks as far as resident care. I think the food they offer to Harmony Residents is horrible. We have spoken to them repeated about this. Broccoli Al dente? Chicken wings? They make the residents wait and wait for their dinner, it is ridiculous. No one has answers as too who is accountable. The previous Rose Lane was dirty and had crap all over the common area. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. No one is accountable, no one writes anything in the book as far as updating for resident. The residents are neglected if anything. They are charging close to 9800 per month?
