Avalon Memory Care

My grandfather was a resident here for a little over 2 years. They were wonderful to him and treated us like family. We really got attached to the staff. I would highly reccomed Avalon Memory Care! Best decision we made asa family!

We moved my mom from her home in East Texas to an Assisted Living here in Arlington, a little over a year ago. The Assisted Living insisted that my mom was ok and appropriate, and that she didn't need memory care. I wish I had done more homework. She didn't last in Assisted Living more than 3 months and then we had to move her again. She wandered out the front door one night, and no one noticed. She just needed a lot more supervision and care. Of course when we had to move her again, we lost the very large community fee we paid the Assisted Living. I wish we had found Avalon earlier and come straight here. The staff have been here a very long time and they are so loving to my mom. It is small and homelike and they really work hard to cater to her individual needs. The staff have become like family to us and we couldn't ask for better care.

It is difficult to find the words to express our family's gratitude for Avalon. We thought we had found the perfect place for my dad at another memory care. They promised us so much and assured us that they were experienced with caring for people with this disease process. My dad was at a place that had a large Assisted Living and then a small Memory Care. When my dad started having some behaviors that we know are very common with dementia, the other facility had no clue what to do and just kept wanting to medicate him. When we pushed back on having him medicated heavily, the facility gave us a 30 day notice. We lost the [fee removed] community fee we had paid them and were back at square one. When we toured Avalon, it was like night and day difference. They are Memory Care only and for my dad, that was game changing! They are so experienced and their staff is specifically trained to care for people with Dementia. The Director is so kind and compassionate. So Grateful!

Our family was very pleased with the level of my brother’s care at Avalon Memory Care. They recognized right away they were going to need assistance in nursing care and were able to help him qualify for Hospice Care at the facility. They always listened to our concerns about his care. The staff at Avalon Memory Care are very caring and always treated my brother with respect. I visited my brother every day and was received with opening arms. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for 24/7 care of a loved one with dementia.

My sister [name removed], has been a resident at Avalon for the past 2 1/2 years. We could not be more please with her care. I visit at least 2-3 times a week and often eat lunch with her. The staff there are so loving to her. We would recommend Avalon to anyone looking for care of their loved one.

My husband was 64 when he was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia. It was such an unbelievable blow to our family. No one expects to deal with dementia at the age of 64. When it was no longer safe for me to try and care for [name removed] at home, I knew I had to make a change. The folks at Avalon were so wonderful to work with and helped me get [name removed] in right away. They really understand his disease process and treat him with love, respect and dignity.

I wish we had known about Avalon Memory Care sooner in dad's illness. We were just so scared to make the wrong decision and had heard horror stories of people getting really bad care. The Admissions Nurse really made us feel so comforted. She met with us multiple times, came out to the house and just walked us through, step by step. The staff came along beside our family in a big way and not only made dad feel at home, but made us feel a sense of peace. They became part of our family. We will always be so grateful to Avalon.

My wife with diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease 10 years ago and then developed Lewy Body Dementia. It was so difficult for our family to watch our beloved wife, mother and grandmother decline. When the time came to get help in caring for her, we began our search and landed with Avalon Memory Care in Arlington. Their staff has been there forever and we could just feel the love from the first time we walked in the door. They understand Lewy Body Dementia, and not all placed do. We are so appreciative of the excellent care they give Shirley. Our family highly recommends Avalon.

We moved our mom in to Avalon Arlington [date removed]. Mom had been at another memory care and the staffing kept changing and we did not ever get good communication when something came up. I am so glad we decided to move her. They made the transition smooth. The management staff as well as most of the caregivers, have been there for years. They are easy to get hold of and we feel so comfortable now.

This is a nice facility. Big open living room where the residence all gather to watch TV. They all look so content. [name removed] and all of the staff were so friendly every single time I interacted with them. Very helpful. Everything was always clean. I can recommend this facility and there staff wholeheartedly.

The place was always clean. The staff was very friendly and kept me informed. The manager could not have been any better. She was remarkable. [name removed] was the manager name. Quite amazing.

A little over 8 years ago, we moved our mom into Avalon in Arlington. She had really good care, and they took care of mom until she passed away. We did not expect, fast forward 8 years, that we would need to place my sister in Memory Care. She is much younger than my mother was when she developed Dementia. This was very unexpected and difficult for my family. My sister was so vibrant and full of energy. When the time came and we couldn't take care of her at home, we knew the only place to call was Avalon. What is incredible, is the same lady that moved in my mom was still there and helped us with every detail of moving in my sister. Also, the majority of the staff that cared for my mom, was still there. I was shocked, but so grateful. Seeing these same familiar faces again, made this difficult process, so much easier.

My father was a resident here for a little over 2 years. Th same staff took care of him the entire time. I loved the consistency and getting to know the staff. They really knew my dad and loved him. As he declined over the years, they adjusted care to his needs. He was able to pass away peacefully on hospice, with our family by his side. Avalon was so supportive of my brother and I. We are so thankful.

We moved my father-in-law into Avalon Keller several months ago. We moved him out of another memory care that sold us on things that never happened. I wish we had found Avalon sooner, but we are so thankful that he is there now getting wonderful care.

My dad had a stroke a few months ago that left him with weakness, inability to communicate and confusion. He had started having memory issues before his stroke, but he was still managing at home. We were told at the hospital to find a nursing home, but we are so glad that we looked for other options. Avalon staff has been so good to my dad. They show genuine care for him and many of them have been with Avalon a very long time.

Our family went through a devastating life change when our mother had an unexpected brain bleed. She was left with cognitive issues and the inability to walk or care for herself. The doctor told us that we needed to looked at a nursing home. When we looked at a few of these facilities, we knew this was not the place we could trust with her care. We are so thankful to Avalon, for the amazing care they gave to our mother. Their staff have been there for a long time and they are very loving and dedicated to the people they care for.

My father developed dementia and spent the last year and a half of his life at Avalon Lewisville. He was comfortable, enjoyed the place, had very good meals, and was surrounded by friendly and attentive staff. The team at Avalon took great care of my father’s needs, provided comfort, and were excellent at communicating with me as well.

I took care of my mother during her illness of Alzheimer’s for about 7 years before it became apparent she needed more help than I could give. The hardest decision is to have to place a loved one into the care of someone else. I found Avalon Memory Care and after much deliberation and thought, we moved my mom into the memory care home. The home and it’s staff helped my mom transition into her new normal and allowed her to be as active as she could possibly be. As the disease continued they adjusted their care to meet her needs. In the final two years she was on Hospice. The staff worked closely with Hospice and myself in the end of life care for my mom. I never felt my mom’s best interest was not at the forefront of every decision we had to make. She passed peacefully in the home.The staff comforted my family and cried with us as they had grown close to her during those years. I am so thankful Avalon came into our life at a time we desperately needed them.

I moved my husband into another memory care in the area. They assured me that they could handle my husband's behaviors and care. He has advanced Parkinson and Lewy Body Dementia. His hallucinations can be bad and it really takes someone that understands this to care for him. Avalon was a God-send. I am so grateful that they quickly came to our rescue.

We moved my dad in last year and we have been very pleased with his care. We also really like the Nurse Practitioner that sees dad at Avalon. We had to make a move from another memory care that went out of business and Avalon made this transition very easy not only for dad, but also our family.
