Avalon Memory Care

Nothing wrong with the place. It served the purpose.

I would recommend this community for your loved one. They are having staffing issues at this time but I feel it is due to covid and what everyone else is going through now everywhere. The staff that are at the community are wonderful. They have activities like crafts, people that come in and play music, work outs like kicking a ball back and forth and more for the residents to do to stay busy. The residents are kind of limited on what all they can and cannot do.

It has been good overall. There have been some staffing issues, but when it was brought to their attention, they took care of it. The caregivers are just caregivers - they're not not nurses or medically trained. Overall they seem to be pretty good with cleanliness.

The staff members were very nice and friendly. They always knew where our loved one was at all times, they constantly watched over him to make sure he did not fall or hurt himself. They did an excellent job regarding that. However, our loved ones belongings at times went missing, so the attentiveness could be a little improved. The meals and dining service could of been more of a variety.

We have had some issues but are slowly working them out. The medication schedule is adequate. They do lack sometimes on diaper changes. I think that additional training is possibly needed for transfers of residents.

I liked the memory care unit okay here. This is a nice community and it is well staffed but my loved one felt that it was not the right place.

Good community for your loved one. The management may need to be checked on every now and then. They have activities like kareoke, cards, dominoes, and entertainment brought in to sing and also bowling.

The tour at Avalon Memory Care - Garland was great. The marketing director and staff were all good people. They had a good way of showing you their community. Of course you hear all the good stuff when you tour, and you don’t get to hear the challenges until your loved one lives there. But we liked what we saw on the tour.

My loved one's room was clean, as well as the common areas. My loved one seemed to receive good care from the community and the staff. This is a home like setting. The staff are kind, warm, and friendly. The community was open to feedback and working with the family to correct any concerns.

I only was given a 5 minute tour. The community looked fancy and nice. There were activities going on; however, the tour felt cold and this was the downfall. It made me feel like an obligation and inconvenience to the community.

Our family first had a virtual tour due to the covid restrictions, but once the communities opened back up we were able to physically tour the community. Our tour experience was great, everyone was very friendly and welcomed us with open arms. However, we did notice there were not to many care takers on the floor and maybe they were short staff from the pandemic.

We chose Avalon Memory care because I like the fact they take care of their residents no matter what their condition is and how much care that they need. The room sizes here are good. Communication has been an issues, it is especially hard to reach the administrative staff. I would recommend to others looking.

We chose Avalon Memory Care because of the location as well as the size of the facility, it is smaller and we liked that. They have multiple buildings and a maximum 25 residents per building. Overall it has been a pretty good experience and I would recommend to others looking.

My daughter and I found the inside a little dark and the outdoor area that we saw was very small. It was clean and neat and [name removed] was very helpful.

During his time here, I appreciated a couple of the staff members that I worked closely with, they were very helpful and always answered any questions that I had. I was only allowed inside the facility one time so anything else is hard to judge.

We like that Avalon community has a home like environment, it is not very large which makes it more intimate and cozy. The rooms are very nice, they have very large shower and plenty of room for the residents to walk around. We would recommend this community to others.

We had an issue when it came to the care services, my name was foraged and used to receive extra medication. From what we have seen the food would be about a three out of five. The rooms were good, it would be a five out of five.

We chose Avalon Memory Care because my dad needed a higher level of care and they were able to provide that here. They offer a perpetual care plan, so once he spends his money, they will cap his monthly dues. We chose this because it will be a final move and we wouldn't have to move him out once he ran out of funds. The best part about this community so far has been the caregiver ratio, there are 5 residents and 2 caregivers 24/7, so it gives us peace of mind. They have been really communicative. I would recommend for people who have memory care issues and dementia.

I really enjoyed being around the people that worked there but they seemed a little stressed from being shorthanded. There were times I had to remind them to do things because I was not sure they were being done. I'm just not sure they had the time to be as attentive to details wit the resident as they needed to be. They were time that from week to week I would go in and the same dirt would be on the floor especially the bathrooms needed a more thorough cleaning and more often. The staff were all good and kind people. I would use them again and I would recommend them. I am thankful for all that they did.

Good spot for those requiring round the clock care. Nice and friendly staff. Staff Appeared to sincerely like assisting patients.
