A Wonderful Experience

My father passed away recently and we were looking for a good assisted living community for our mother. We contacted "A Place for Mom" and instantly we received a phone call from an advisor. She was very helpful and gave us 3 places to start with and recommended we look at Normandy Park Senior Living on 1st Avenue. She has heard very good things about it. We took mom there for a tour and she loved it. Everyone was so friendly. It was really clean and the halls were really wide. The Director at Normandy Park (Jill) was very nice and mom asked questions and she explained everything so mom could understand the benefits of living there. We had lunch in their dinning room while we were there. The food was wonderful. We still had to look at the other 2 communities but mom decided she didn't want to look at the other 2. She was really impressed with Normandy Park Senior Living. Mom has been there for 6 weeks now and she is very happy with the decision she made. We really didn't expect to get everything done so fast but everyone was so compassionate about our mom's situation and walked us through the whole process. We don't have to worry as much about our mom. We know she is in a safe environment and she loves it. We want to send them a Thank you so much for everything they did for us. I cannot say enough about Michael. Anything that needs to be repaired is done in a timely fashion. He's professional, kind, friendly and I know my Mom is not the only one that needs his services. The Atrium is lucky to have him and I'm lucky that I chose the Atrium for my mom.

Over all would recommend

San Marino is a beautiful facility. Cleaned and spacious. [name removed] room is great, lot's of room to have her favorite things with her A bit more expensive than we would like, and some add ons: like having to give her the meds, aides for safe showering. She's not fond of all of the food, but that is not unusual for her. Had some trouble getting her meds straight for a while, they couldn't seem to get their act together. We will probably have to move her to somewhere that accepts Medicaid, as her money will not last for very long. I do wish that I'd known that ahead of time.

Atrium works for your aging loved ones

It's a nice place for the aging family members that may need assistance or just to minimize responsibilities and be covered. My one concern is clarity of offerings when talking to representative. They will give a positive answer to something that they don't do and it at the time could be important to you and your decision. ONLY TRUST WHATS WRITTEN..

Nice community, good care

General comments: staff is personable and usually does a well either the clients. Personal staff communicates well. Some Office staff very hard to get ahold of if you need something or have a question. You usually need to just hunt them down. Activities are good, wish they were more often. Site and rooms always clean. Price is standard for this type of care.

Starting a new life

Our family member has adjusted well to moving from the home she lived in for nearly 30 years with her husband of nearly 50 years until his death. Things have moved quickly and she realized she needed more assistance than we could provide. She loves the food and we’ve been pleased with the caregivers she’s been dealing with. There have been a few hiccups, but as a daughter of an 8-year resident said to me, “they aren’t perfect but they have good hearts”. The building is well maintained and while the A/c system could use an upgrade — it cools things off well but is very loud—we have no complaints about her surroundings. We are glad we were able to find San Marino for her at this point in her life.

Wonderful Executive Director and Staff

The staff at Atrium Village have been wonderful. They made a tough transition for my mom much more palatable. She was still in mourning for my Dad and was uprooted from her home to this Senior Living Facility. I didn't think she would come around so soon. The staff made that transition happen, all in 4 months time. [Name removed], the Executive Director there, is just like his name. A spiritual song that soothed my mom's spirit. He would send pictures of her smiling and enjoying the activities. He gave me comfort that my mom was in good hands and care. The staff were there to encourage her and to assist her. She went from not eating, to gaining 25 pounds. Communication with the family has been great. Me and my brothers get called often with concerns, like a change in her habits or hints for dealing with certain situations. They've been awesome, we love them! Mom is doing very very well.

Review for Normandy Park Assisted Living

It was a good experience overall. They seemed more homey & caring than the other facilities as well as being a bit smaller & less overwhelming for my Dad.They are currently experiencing a lot of turnover, especially with the kitchen staff. I'm sure this is an industry issue, but it has affected the quality of meals they are currently receiving.

Atrium Village Made A Difference

My loved one and family have had a good experience with Atrium Village. The staff is kind and caring. Everyone is friendly. There are activities and meals provided to assist with socialization of the residents. This is a community we would recommend. While the facility is rather expensive, the staff is extremely accommodating and will work with you to try and meet your budget. There is a shuttle service, but it could use some improvement. Overall great experience.

I would recommend Fountain Court. Their prices are high, especially with all the add-ons, but they might have standard prices when compared to other places - I haven't checked. I think their staff is great, though there seems to be a high turnover.

Review for Atrium Village

We had a really great experience with the Sales Director, and the move to Atrium Village was so easy. My dad was able to tour before we signed the lease, and he was really excited to transfer. The inside of the faciity is beautiful. After moving dad in, some of us sat by one of the firepalces to just catch our breath and relax. My dad is making friends and playing pool almost everyday. He was assisgned a "buddy" for the first month to show him around and do things with. They became fast friends and he joined us for dinner, in Dad's room the last time we were there. They grab each other when it's meal time and check in one one another. There are activities that I still have to nudge Dad to go participate in , but there is literally a full calendar of things for him to do daily. Dad is on the Assisted Living side, which we are really happy about, but wish it wasn't so segregated. There is a different calendar of activities for the Assisted Living folks, so my dad is limited to the number of people he can mingle with. Other than that, we love that we don't have to worry about Dad taking his medication, and he tells me people are in and out of his room all of the time. Everyone is so kind, and all the employees are pleasant and know my Dad very well. There is a Nurse Paractitioner that visits twice a week, to see the residents and is already getting to know my Dad. There is a really nice therapy room, and my Dad goes several times a week, it's like a gym membership to him. They also coem to his room to work on his memory and he loves the attention. Lastly, the website showed an outdoor, inground pool but it does not exist. We were really looking forward to Dad spending the summer at the pool. Other than, that we are 100% happy with the move to Atrium Village and really proud of Dad for being so adaptable.

Tour experience

Atrium Village was too commercial and didn't seem like "home", and we witnessed the bingo instructor yelling at a resident when we were there for our tour.
