Grandmother Is Happy

Everything is going very well for my grandmother. She has adjusted very well to the community. They are caring for her very well. I am pleased with everything they have done for us. They offer nice activities and good food. Overall I would recommend it.

My mother is doing pretty good at Fountain Court. The food is fine, she says it varies day to day. They do quite a few activities. I would say there are quite a few people there with dementia.

Smaller facility which I liked, very convenient location. Newer building but there were cooking odors. Staff seemed friendly, couldn't tell about the residents. Did not appear to be very diverse.

Friendly, communicative staff

Our experience with Normany Park assisted living has been a good one so far. I don't get the chance to visit often as I live out of state, but I have heard good things from my family members. I do really appreciate that they communicate openly and frequently about the status of your loved one.

Very light and bright. Safety rails line both sides of the halls but look like decorative molding. All the bars in the bathrooms are also grab bars. There were no noticeable odors. Memory care is available if the need should arise. Friendly staff and residents. Jill is very knowledgeable about the facility and senior housing. She answered all of our questions and invited us to call anytime if we have more. Plenty of activity for participation. The facility itself is a nice manageable size. Not overwhelming as some we have visited. Overall impression was that this facility is on the list to be of serious consideration. I'd like to give it 4.75 stars, but was not able to do so.

Normandy Park Assisted Living

Normandy Park Assisted Living was very helpful in getting my mother into a safe and nuturing environment after leaving a rehab facility and was no longer able to live indepedently. They worked with the family and made a placement for my mom immediately with the least amount of hassles. They were very helpful.

A bit snobby

They were a very lovely community. The community is really nice and very well maintained. They just weren't very cooperative with us. They were really kind of snobby and just did not have a very warm and inviting atmosphere. We really liked the actual community just not the atmosphere they have.

The staff here was just awesome. The rooms and the hallways were very large and the most space for the buck of all the spaces I have seen. The grounds are really nice and I was excited to see a nice number of male staff. I think that would be helpful for my Dad. This choice is at the top of my list.

It is a nice facility and I do not know what many people would do without it

The staff members at Apple Springs were very friendly, and our loved ones room was clean. I wasn't around for meals, the activities or around to the different careservices. It seems expensive to me. Dad never commented on any of it.

Needs Improvement

The friendliness of staff is a tough one because the staff turn over is so high it's hard to make bonds with the staff. I guess I would say overall okay depending on who it is. However the food is TERRIBLE! For the amount of money that my parents pay to stay there, the food is low quality and just not good. Turnover with the cooks has also been a problem. Again, turnover of activities director/coordinator has been a problem. Limited actives. Activity room is too small for a large amount of residents to be able to participate. Families are not informed of activity schedule in order to assist and remind our parents of the activities. The staff doesn't make the effort to go ask the residents to join. I think if they went door to door, or did an announcement on facility wide speakers, they would have more residents join in. This facility needs ALOT of improvement!

Our Tour Experience

We toured during Covid, so they wouldn’t let us in the main building. They just showed us an apartment. So it was very difficult to judge what was going on there. We didn't like that our loved one would have to walk over and get his own meals to carry back to his apartment. It definitely felt like assisted living, whereas where we ended up felt like truly independent living. Revel just didn’t have as many amenities / activities / ways to get people involved.

It is an average community

This community is average compared to other communities that I have experienced in the area. They are not exceptional. The food was great and offered a good variety. We chose this community because my parents wanted to live in the cottages in independent living .

Our experience at San Marino was not a good one.

My mother fell several times during her stay there with little supervision even in the memory care place. We had to pay for 24 hour private care to keep her safe. The management was no help and blamed everything on my mom. The staff were caring but way understaffed. I would not recommend that facility to anyone who can't totally care for themselves

Based on our experience so far, San Marino Retirement Community can rethink their leadership. They could also staff the units appropriately to support their residents living there.

This tour did not go well as they did not get the communication from a Place For Mom that told them I had an appointment. A person there kindly showed me around, but then said they didn't have any rooms available

Look closer - sub par care

We had the same first impression as the previous reviewer, and actually did place our loved one there for awhile. Everything seemed great when the resident doesn't really need their "assistance" Very much. Then everything changes and they just want to get rid of the problem. I think it stems from the top. The director there seemingly just wants to deal with any issues by making them go away - as in telling the resident/family they should leave. We were also not impressed with the care supervisor (I think they call it wellness center). Medication charts were not up to date, there was confusion amongst the staff. The individual care givers were nice enough but training seems to be lacking. I understand they are building a memory care/expansion now. I hope the wellness center supervisor isn't in charge of that. Those residents have even more needs, and I think it would be a disaster. We are very happy that Dad is out of this facility.

Seniors and famiies beware

If I could give negative stars to rate this company, I would. Artegan purchased the Lodge in Sisters, OR, in the fall of [date removed]. My mother moved in in [date removed], with assurances that when her funds were depleted, she would be able to stay on Medicaid. In [date removed] a letter was sent to residents and families informing us that the facility would no longer provide (any) medical assistance and was giving up its license effective in [date removed]. My mother is at the end of her life on hospice and we must move her again within less than 2 months. Further, there are 15 residents in the facility on Medicaid, who are no longer eligible for services. Yet, the company has continued to encourage new residents up to the day of their announcement that they would no longer be provided assisted living servies. Shame on you, Artegan!
