Really nice but pricey

The people are wonderful! The place is beautiful and the meals are excellent with plenty of choices. The apartments are small but large enough for one and have full kitchens which aren't really necessary... they could be downgraded to kitchenettes and give more living space. My only regret is they don't have quit enough care services for my mother to qualify for VA Widows pension, which would have made it within her price range. The apartment and weekly cleaning are worth $750. But the rest of the amenities including meals are not worth $1200.

Nice community with room for improvements

I've found the staff to be friendly and pleasant enough, but I haven't had to work with them on an extended basis, so my experience with them is limited. The one exception is with the main chef/cook in the kitchen. My mom has lactose intolerance, and their menu up until a few months ago included several meals with dairy products—cheese as an ingredient in many meals. The chef wasn't particularly accommodating of her condition, it seemed, so my mom was pretty irritated about that almost all the time. Then, the chef found out he was also lactose intolerant, and started to change the menu seemingly because of that. I will also say that my mom, let's say, expresses dissatisfaction with many things, and since meals happen for all of us a few times daily, that was one reason she would tell me "I've gotta get out of here." But since the chef has changed the menu a bit for the lactose intolerance aspect, my mom seems more satisfied with the facility. My mom can be challenging, though.

Not a good experience as far as the nursing director [name removed] was Completely non-responsive and inept. Working wouldn't return a call and did not coordinate care as promised. And the director is a good talker but doesn't back it up. Direct care staff was great, facility is nice and meals are good but would not recommend. Good place if your loved one doesn't need much help/care. Not a good place for more complex issues. Poor coordination of care.

Review for The Boulevard Senior Living of St. Peters

When I got here a year ago, they said that as soon as we get more clients to move in then we would get more help to do more activities, get more repairs fixed faster, and more variety in food. None of that has happened. If you don't like to play cards, there isn't much to do.

It has been a bumpy road for my parents but things seem to be improving slowly.

The facility was due to open many months before they actually received their occupancy permits so it was difficult to maintain staff and train them for this brand new building. At times, the nursing staff is overwhelmed with dispersing medications in a timely manner for the residents in this large facility. The same holds true for the care team. It is slowly improving but the health care of the residents is still a concern. It is an attractive, new building which makes for a pleasant environment. My mother is adjusting to being there but needs encouragement to participate in the many activities offered. Hopefully, she will become more involved especially since my dad passed away recently. As with many senior living places, the menu offerings and food quality could use improvement. The majority of the staff and administrators are pleasant, friendly and trying their best to perform their duties & responsibilities.

Not enough aides

The monthly fee is exorbitant unless you have long term care insurance. You would think with the price they charge, you would get great service. No you don't. My husband had poop and pee caked on him. He fell in his room several times and instead of calling me, they called an ambulance 5 times and was taken to a different emergency room every time. Insurance did not pay those emergency charges and it ended up me paying the bills. The Parkway's main problem is there are not enough aides to handle that many residents.

The Cambridge Senior Living review

The facility itself showed signs of aging but all rooms were/are undergoing a complete renovation ( not sure status). Mom moved out before her room was revamped so not sure what it's like now. The managers I typically dealt with were all nice and helpful. Mom particularly complimented the wait staff in the dining room. She had issues with housekeeping (weeks would go by without a cleaning) but hopefully those things have been resolved. I should say mom moved out because she wanted more space and wanted to live more independently (she's in a duplex in a 55+ community now, but also has access to services of the independent living facility if needed)

Things to know

The place is understaffed; I have seen management company changed in July and they are more interested in show than people and INDEPENDENT Living is emphasized. The leaders do not enforce the rules. A new man moved in Saturday and he has 2 large dogs which have created havoc and he doesn't pick up after them and he was too friendly with a pretty lady and she threatened him that she would call the police. I love my 2 bedroom unit and I would hate to move again but it is in the back of my mind. I didn't look anywhere else when I selected this one.

Disappointing

Most of the workers were excellent. A few weren't; i was told repeatedly by one that I needed to hurry because she couldn't take time, she had other people to take care of. I've been diagnosed with parkinson's and hurry isn't an option many times, they were aware of my condition when they allowed me to move into their assisted living: unit: another threw my shoes down and told me if I was waiting on her to put them on i would wait all night. The food is sometimes great sometimes below what I thought was their standard. Tonight's Salisbury steak had to be cut with a knife.. the taste ws fine, texture wrong.. they do have many congenial, compassionate workers who are caring and hard working. I hate to leave because of them. They short staffed.

Would not recommend the Villas, do not have enough info for rating the main building.

When it comes to the care givers, little is done to check on residents in the Villas. With the meals and dining services, it is difficult for Villa residents to enter, lack of parking, convenient access. Little is done to engage residents in the Villas. Major issues with facilities. Continuous large spread Flooding in garage due to improper grading of driveway/ lawn, water in living room due to pooling water/overflow of gutters. Window with no screen and broken seal took months to fix. Things were not constructed properly so now there are major water issues. Local staff ignored problem for a while and finally realized the severity of the issue, then tried to fix water issues but corporate would not invest in proper fixes/ maintenance. We have given our move out notice and she is moving to [community name removed]. Already happier with the attention to detail, communication, and quality of facilities at WRMC.

I appsolutly would recommend.

It is a very nice facility. The workers are always interacting with the residents. I like the employees, staff, very much. I appreciate going in and seeing that they are always busy. They are not sitting around playing on their phones. And they always speak kindly to the residents. I also like the fact that there is a licensed nurse in the facility 24 hours. Not on call. My frustrations have been more with the transfer of patient from hospital to facility. Medications got dropped during transfer. Do not know what the problem was but the PA that rounds at the facility worked with me in correcting the problem. And some of my frustration is with learning the nursing laws in the state of Michigan. But the staff has been wonderful, very helpful and my mother in law is receiving good care. But I do find the cost to be VERY expensive.

Sad

Poor communication. My mom (who was I continent) was regularly left with a mattress with no sheets or mattress protector. Her mattress and carpet are ruined. The room reeks. We are leaving.

Our Families' Experience

The room is generally clean; my husband not changed often enough; not sure how often he was bathed. The elevator was seldom clean (not swept). I didn't feel that he was watched carefully enough, especially at night when he would try to get out of bed. I'm sure he had some falls that I wasn't informed of. There were some arts/crafts, and music, as I recall. I believe the place was short staffed, and turnover seemed high. As I understand it, staff members were hired thru some outside source and they didn't seem to be really invested in their roles / seemed to do just what was minimally needed. Perhaps their pay wasn't enough? I would have liked more activities and more encouragement to participate; some staff seemed to not understand that residents need encouragement and engagement. Because my husband didn't talk much it was hard to know exactly how well he was cared for - I must say he didn't complain but that's because he just wasn't much of a talker. He didn't seem afraid or unhappy.

Review for The Princeton Senior Living

I would say they make big promises when you tour but the reality of living there is not the same. They also have numerous excuses when you confront them about problems make promises and never follow through. I would not recommend them to a friend. Turn over of employees is high they don't seem happy working there. Have had some wonderful employees but they always quit.

NEW is good and bad.

This community is only 5 1/2 months old.. Therefore the surroundings are beautiful. Apartments are beautiful and open areas are pleasant. However, we all have been paying our rent faithfully for months, but we don’t get what we pay for. When I turn on my TV or my laptop I have a 50/50 chance that they will work. They say that they keep calling the companies to fix the problem but that doesn’t give us access to our TVs or computers. They have been trying to fix the problem for 5 1/2 months. There are 3 to 4 activities planned each day but there are a lot of repeats . If you don’t like cards you have limited activity. The hardest thing for me to deal with are the “middle school” cliques that exit especially in the dining room. When I toured this place, I I was told I could sit anywhere in the dining room. This is not true. Twice I asked to sit at a table and I was told “No.” Now I know there is a table of 8 who are friends and won’t let others join them. Hurtful? .
