A Beautiful Space That Gives The Residents Safety and Mobility. The Staff Appears to Have a lot of Skill

The staff are stretched really thin; however, the moral is still high. They keep a good atmosphere for the residents. The community has a lot of interesting people. The building is beautiful and is full of sunlight.

It really is a terrific place

We have been here for a few months and it really is a terrific place. The have cottages you can live in, or apartments in the main building. We chose to live in the cottages so we did not have to deal with the elevators and being confined into the rooms in case there was a covid lock down at all. There are 38 cottages which is terrific. They are attached to another person cottage at one point in the room, almost like a duplex, but you cannot hear them. The bedrooms are all carpeted, everything else is vinyl flooring which is really pretty and nice. The monthly price is very reasonable, we only have to pay for electricity and they pay for water. They also take care of everything, anytime something breaks they come to fix it or they replace it. The cottages also come with a garage, and somewhat of a driveway so one car can park in the garage and the other behind the car. The garages are also very wide and very deep, its like no other garage you have ever seen. The cottages also have very nice patios, they are about 8X10, and you can extend it for an additional fee. You can also put an awning out there if you want. It is surrounded by a lot of trees which is really pretty. This community is much cheaper than others in the area. The cottages also have a front porch, which helps us meet people outside and we can sit outside and mingle. This community has an upscale feeling to it, they recently got their liquor license, so they have a bar and a nice bartender and a new restaurant. They do have nursing care here, but we are not sure of the extent of that care since it is more independent living. Also the physical therapist and occupational therapist that comes are absolutely amazing.

Miraculous, seamless move and gorgeous facilities

[Name removed] helped us in a heroic manner, to move our beloved parents/grandparents into Wesley Stapley in Philly, from their apartment in NYC in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis. He worked with family members, and the vendor we hired to furnish their new unit—across the country, and across generations, in the most compassionate, helpfully responsive way imaginable. The facility he manages is bright, clean and filled with sunny windows that let in natural light and park views. When he face-timed me to give me a virtual tour of the premises from my California home, I met several staff people in the hall who were friendly, warm and clearly delighted to work there. The protocols in place to ensure the health of my in-laws, and all their residents, were reassuringly stringent. My in-laws will quarantine for 2 weeks before they can come out of their new, beautiful apartment, but then I believe that they will enjoy the facilities, staff, community, activities and their lovely, newly refurbished and remodeled apartment, when the Covid19 season takes a break—hopefully by this summer. I can not recommend [name removed] or Wesley Stapley enough.

Happy with the care

We were nervous to send my grandmother anywhere for rehab after a hospital stay when she fell ill. We heard good things about stapeley Wesley enhanced living and decided we would send her there. We are happy that we did. She received great care. The staff was very friendly, and the food was not bad. All my grandmother's needs were met and they kept us informed. I would recommend this facility to others

Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley - Independent Living

Wonderful independent living community. The apartments are spacious and have private decks. Staff are friendly and caring and helpful. Lovely location close to train and in the middle of vibrant and diverse Mt. Airy/Germantown. Activities are OK but could be better and more stimulating. There are not enough activities outside of the facility - which is a missed opportunity being so close to Center City arts and culture. Most residents complain about the dining experience. Long wait times for dinner and not always great choices. Wonderful Sunday brunch that is great for family visits!

Very Blest

The BEST CCRC Retirement Community by far ! I've been researching this since 1996, first for my parents, and more recently for my husband and I , especially since our work retirements, and with the mounting challenges as homeowners, while we felt ourselves "aging gracefully." Wesley Enhanced / Upper Moreland / has a wonderful, caring staff, fine community spirit, and every support system retirees would hope for, and is sensibly priced as well. We feel very happy now in our perfect cottage , have peace of mind concerning the future, and are very blest !

Good place for personal or dementia care.

The staff is excellent - everyone I've met demonstrates knowledge, concern, patience and kindness. The facility is comfortable and clean. Attention is given to individual needs. The food service could stand an upgrade, but it is in the adequate to good range, and the residents are able to choose from a reasonable number of options.

A Family Member's Experience with Stapeley Enhanced Living

My mother age 95 was still living alone when she fell and was found dazed by a daily caregiver we had coming into her home. At the hospital, it was discovered that she had a mild heart attack, and dehydrated. The recommendation was to go to Stapeley's Nursing Home wing for rehabilitation. The staff were great. They handled my feisty mother (who was not happy she was not going home) very well. They increased her physical and cardiac strength all of which made her more mobile and independent. The staff were instrumental in helping the family decide that mom needed more supervision. My mother reluctantly agreed to a stay in the Assisted Living portion of the facility. Stapeley Assisted Living on Greene St. is an urban center in Germantown Pa. The building is well maintained. Much of the original handcrafted oak woodworking remains giving the building a warm feeling. The staff are friendly, cheerful and helpful to both visitors and residents. She can have as much or as little help as she wants. Medical appointments at the facility are monthly for my mom whereas before she would miss medical appointments because of transportation or low motivation to leave the house. She has made some new friends and old friends from the neighborhood can still come by since Stapeley is only 15 minutes from where my mother lived prior to her heart attack. There resident’s population is varied. Some people have mild to moderate dementia but still can get along with some assistance like my mom. Others have physical problems. My mom has made some friendships. The other residents look out for each other and help each other out. The family feels better knowing that there is 24 hour supervision. My brother, sister and I all live out of state, so we rely on Stapley to provide the care we might provide if we lived closer. In all our family is very happy with the care our mother is getting. I work as a neuropsychologist and conducted evaluations in hospitals, nursing home and assisted living facilities. I would place Stapeley Assisted Living in the top 20% of urban facilities that I have been in.

A place and community I appreciate!

I have had excellent experiences with Stapeley, from initial contact with the Marketing Director, Julie Flanagan, repeated visits with parishioners contemplating a move into senior housing, to move-in and day-to-day life. When issues have arisen, they have been addressed speedily and positively with respect to the resident(s), and in a respectful, professional manner with the staff. I have found the atmosphere overall, to be positive, collegial, caring and competent at every level, and the residents upbeat and glad to live there. I would gladly (and do!) recommend Stapeley to friends and parishioners planning (in the near or longer-term) a move into an affordable environment which can be as supportive as needed, while encouraging, appreciating, and respecting the residents as "veteran" adults, who have lived long, and learned much.

A Caring Place-- Stapeley

Our mother has been at Stapely in the assisted living department since November 2014. She was lonely and homesick for her home in the beginning but everyone there was very kind to her. She sometimes got snappy with people and raised her voice but people remained kind. Julie Flanagan, the person in charge, took time to visit her and connected with her as two girls brought up in the same church. Julie communicated with our family and kept us informed. We have a companion visiting my mom to take her out to movies and her familiar places and friends. This companion emails us several times a week and has nothing but good things to say about Stapely. She says the following: It's clean, they have lots of activities, the staff works hard and everyone is nice-- clients and workers. I've seen it myself when I flew back in Nov, March, and May. Several different staff people greeted my mother by name when we were together. It was "Hi Miss Gladys" all over the place! My mother is happy there now. She has friends that come by and get her and they go to exercise and activities together. I've been on the phone with my mom and I've heard a Staff person knock on her door to remind her of a class coming up. She loves the beautiful garden and the views from her room and the dining room. It's beautiful in the spring with the dogwoods! I'm happy my mother is there because it's a very caring place

A wonderful and safe place for a loved one!

My mother has lived at Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley for the past three years. Her care has been exemplary. The staff takes a great interest in each resident's well being. In particular, Julie Flanagan, the Sales and Marketing Manager at the facility, is a daily presence on the floor to ensure that my mother's needs are met. She communicates with me any concerns that may arise, and they are quickly addressed. Although I live out of state, I sleep well at night knowing that my mother is happy and safe. JC

Independent living comfy for my mother

We just moved my 87 year old Mom into Stapely independent living and she's happily settling into life there. My mom is quite fussy and the staff has been patiently fixing everything to her specifications. The apartment is very clean and up-to-date. The building is also very clean and nice. The dining room is beautifully furnished but the chairs are quite heavy and could use wheels for the older folks to move easier - I see them struggling with them at dinner (small point, these things are important when the meal is a central focus of your day.) The serving staff is very nice and accommodating - wonderful people. I give special thanks to the sales manager for making my mother comfortable during the move. The food is on the whole good institutional food - they should try and cook the vegetables a little less. The chef probably knows this and tries his best, just mentioning it. I am not speaking about any of the levels of care - I don't know about them - just independent living - it works for my mother.

Independent Living & Assisted Living Review

My sister started her experience with Stapeley in Independent Living several years ago. She has severe arthritis and memory challenges and it was clear she needed to make changes in her lifestyle though she was resistant to any changes initially. We looked at other facilities but none fit her better than Stapeley. From the start my sister simply 'liked the place and the people'. A big part of our choice this was Julie, the sales coordinator who assisted with the entire process in a personalized, professional and friendly manner, she really listened to our needs and concerns. Recently, my sister fell and we decided she needed to move to Assisted Living, again, Julie was there every step of the way and helped make it as seamless a process as possible. In addition, the place is clean and cheerful, the food is good and the staff is welcoming. I recently spent 4 days onsite visiting my sister, eating lunches and dinners, talking to the staff and participating in interesting and interactive activities. My family and I remain happy with our choice and are confident she is receiving good care, the best part is my sister is happy as well.

From a condo in a exciting Southern town to a senior living facility in a bucolic suburban Pennsylvania community

My ratings are based on comparison with our lifestyle before entering Wesley Enhanced Loving (WEL). The biggest change was demographics: about 80% of the residents are women, and of those, about 60% or more use walkers. Note that we reside in an independent living apartment. The culinary team tries hard and offers a large and varied menu. However, the quality is inconsistent, and I would describe it as a step above institutional food (like school cafeterias). Because of the demographics, the activities are skewed toward women. Also, many activities are limited in attendance, requiring signups which leads to disappointments If one did not get to the sign up book early enough. One other thought: the campus is kept I excellent condition with seasonal plantings and attractive trees.

Review for Wesley Enhanced Living Upper Moreland

It's great for Independent Living but they're very inflexible and unwilling to accommodate residents as their needs increase and capacities diminish. They're also weirdly obsessed with the appearance of their lobby TV area such that they will wake any residents who fall asleep in front of the TV and don't allow them to have drinks or snacks there.
