Spring Hills Lake Mary

Spring Hills is the best place my mother could be. The room she lives in is wonderful, the food they cook is delicious, and there are so many things for her to do throughout the day. I think this place is a wonderful home for loved ones. The care is above and beyond. The care givers really care about the residents. The whole staff wants the best for loved ones. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Memory Care staff was incredible

The Memory Care unit upstairs in Spring Hill was just wonderful to my mother. I can not express how much care was given to her. The nurses and aids had so much patience and understanding and new how to handle every situation that came up. The experience really came through. I can not say enough about them. I would have to unfortunately add that the hospice care that Spring Hill recommended to us close to my mother's end was horrible though. If I had it to do over I would not use the hospice care that is provided there - Embracing Hospice. After my mother's passing, I asked to speak to the Manager there about the horrible care they provided and have not heard from them so that was also disappointing. So, Spring Hill is all thumbs up as far as nurses and aids, but stay away from the hospice care. They only got in the way and provided horrible care when we could have used them the most. They should be shut down - period.

Very nice place, but very expensive

I thought that everything went excellent on the tour.  I wasn't able to try any of the food, but the dining area looked good.  They take the people who live here shopping and to Target once a week.  I've seen them out at the supermarket where I shop.  They keep them active.  Food looks great,  staff is attentive, and the reception area as well as the outside is very clean and that's very important. However, I think the price of the community is to high. Overall I think the place is excellent.

Nice looking place

I liked it, it seemed like a nice venue . They had a garden there that the residents could tend to. When I asked whether the memory care residents can be with the garden they said that they did allow them to be there. Seemed to be a clean place and the room that she would have been staying in would have been spacious. Had a courtyard type area. Said that the dining area for the memory care wasn't as good as the area for the independent living residents. The staff was generally helpful. The looked like they genuinely cared for the residents. Saw the care that the staff provided for the residents in the dining area and was impressed. The one thing I didn't like was how they weren't up front about the pricing information. They told me one price over the phone and then told me after the assessment for the level of care and told me that it would be $1,200 more for her care.

My Rock at Spring Hills Mount Vernon Assisted Living

I have wanted to write a review for a long time but I kept putting it off. I think that it is time to speak about an employee at Spring Hills Mount Vernon (SH) --- Ms. Carolyn Ko, Director of Resident Care. Anyone who is living or has lived with a loved one in dementia understands the stress that constantly increases as that loved one drifts further away. Where do I turn to, where do I go from here, and more importantly, what lies ahead. I needed an anchor, someone to talk to, in short, I needed a “ROCK” to hold on to in order to keep my emotions in check. I found that rock in Carolyn Ko. My wife has been a resident at SH for the last 18 months. In that time Carolyn has been there for me. Listening to my babbling – just listening. Her presence gave me strength. Carolyn has the passion and compassion of her profession. Her counsel has always been straight forward and caring-- and it still is. I remember the times when I was home in the evenings and the phone would ring. This would happen many times; sometimes at 8:00 pm and other times at 9 or 10 PM. I would answer the phone and the voice of Carolyn would come back at me with “Bill, this is Carolyn, what are you doing?” “Nothing” “Well I just left the office, talk to me”. She would then tell me all of my wife’s ups and downs, her setbacks and her accomplishments. She would call constantly. Needless to say that I found my “ROCK”. I remember the night when the phone rang and you guessed it, it was Carolyn however it was a different type of phone call. “Bill, can I drop by for a glass of wine?” --- Sure. That night we talked about what to expect and what I needed to do in preparation for finality. My ROCK talked and I cried. I needed to hear this, I needed to be prepared. I had mentioned my need for more information to Carolyn in the past and she ignored it. She just knew that I was not ready. This night she knew that it was time. Sweet Carolyn sat there talking to me, holding my hand, letting me cry and then she told me that what I was doing was a normal part of the grieving process that it was alright to feel the way I did. She validated what I was saying and feeling. This conversation could not be conducted in her office or over the phone. It had to take place in a comfortable familiar setting – my living room. Her foresight on how to approach this subject and where to conduct it was outstanding. I am now empowered with the tools I need. I have her gift of knowledge. My wife and I just celebrated our 55th year together. How much longer will I have her? Who knows. I do know that I am ready for whatever comes my way. Carolyn made me get ready. She made me get into a comfort zone. She made me stronger. THE WORLD NEEDS MORE CAROLYN Ko’s. Bill Young 10/8/14

Lovely place to live

My friend has been at Spring Hills since Oct.2014. The staff made her very welcome. They even asked about her favorite movies, music or special interest. The studios and one bedroom apts. are lovely. There is a great use of space in the studio apts. The large bathrooms is safe and easy to move around in. There is ample space to have enough furniture to put the residents own"stamp" on his/her apt., a small kitchen area, and a cozy sitting area. The staff plans weekly trips to nearby stores and outings for lunch and other activities. Spring Hills is kept very clean. I have found the staff to very helpful and pleasant. They go beyond just providing services they really care about the residents and their well-being. I recommend that you go to Spring Hills before you make your final choice.

All I hoped for and more

I searched hard to find quality and affordable care for my father. Spring Hills Mount Vernon is just such a place. The staff treat the residents like family and are very attentive to their needs. The facility is clean and inviting. And the dining room menu is full of wonderful choices. If you are looking for a caring and safe environment for your loved one, then look at Spring Hills Mt. Vernon. You won't be disappointed! One grateful daughter

It was a wonderful place, staff was friendly and outgoing, lots of little touches to make it feel homey. All of the questions I asked were answered with even more information, very open. Wonderful programs for the residents, who seemed very engaged, I spoke to several of them who were very happy there. Several choices of accommodations available, with views of the gardens and lake.

Above & beyond

Words cannot express how much we appreciated the great care the Executive Director, Dee, the Director of Resident Care , Amy and all the staff gave our dad and us during a difficult time. The nurses and caregivers were very attentive to our needs. The nurses went above and beyond caring for dad and were compassionate to us. Their staff works hard to care for the residents. We definitely recommend Spring Hills Singing Woods to anyone who needs that extra special care. Jennifer & Debbie

Fabulous facility

Spring Hills gives caretakers and family peace of mind knowing their loved ones are being given the best care from a professional, caring staff. The facility is spotlessly clean, the food is awesome and, it is obvious, the staff really enjoy their positions and respect the residents. I would not hesitate to recommend Spring Hills to anyone searching for a wonderful place a family member.

I'm in love

I'm in love, This is where I would go, they are about to add 20 more units, the only rub is that they only have 1 medicaid bed. Residents were very friendly, they didn't mind me bringing my grandchild, Dad liked the food and he is a picky fellow, depending on your level of care needed it was optional. This community has brought my Mom and Dad gifts, invited them for activities, fed them. Laura the lady that is working with me has called and checked in with me.
