Review for The Gardens at Stevens

The staff was very good and their director has been very easy to talk to when checking in on how my mom is doing.

Next best thing to Home

My mom has been living here for over two years , and I have to say the staff and accommodations are top notch. They provide everything she needs and they go above and beyond everyday. Location is small so the attention given to each resident is amazing. Highly recommend!!!

Forest City Personal care was excellent

This was an excellent place for older people. The staff that we dealt with were very good with my loved one. The tour was great and I got to see everything I needed to see and all of my questions were answered. The administrative staff are also very good.

Friendly Staff, large room.

The staff is generally accommodating and cheerful. There are not many activities partly due to the small quantity of people in house. The food is generally ok. Cleanliness is great. My parent's room is very large. Their bathroom is somewhat hard to navigate for mobility challenged folks but overall good.

Great staff but room for improvement.

Well, the people are friendly. They could keep it cleaner. There was a lot of turnover of employees before mom passed away.

We toured The Gardens at Stevens and it was nice. The tour was professional and informative, the rooms shown were clean, and the staff was great. My loved one just didn't need the level of care that they provide at this facility.

No Help

Would not recommend placing your parent at this home. Never enough help for the care of the residents. Home smells of urine. some staff good other staff not so good. Residents complain of them being mean. Never enough decent supplies for beds. Nothing gets fixed when asked. Some staff good, others its a job. State does nothing to help.

Our family would not recommend this place at this time.

Overall, just not happy about most of the place. Unfortunately, mom is not well enough to move to another place so I'm sort of stuck for now. Hopefully she'll get better enough to move soon.

Disappointed

For the price, I did not expect luxury, but I did expect competence. During the first month, the director quit without warning causing chaos when my mother was navigating medical issues. I was left with no point of contact and an immediate need to change facilities. Additionally, all of the activities were geared around prayer, which didn't suit our needs, and the staff that was left was often rude and dismissive.

Abhorrent

This is a place where people are left to be forgotten I had to take my mother out in an emergency scenario due to a blood infection that caused blotches on her legs- we went to the ER with her to be sent to Harrisburg for a specialist. It was very serious her ammonia levels were so high she was confused and delusional. If I didn't take my mom out at that time she would have probably died. It was filthy, urine smell. There was no treatment plan for my mom who needed physical therapy. They had her in a bed for 3 days and put a diaper on her instead of assisting her to the restroom and she was healthy aside from weak muscles. They set her up like she needed hospice. She needed a physical therapist but they treated her like she was terminal. Indignant. For shame. She told me at one point the staff put trash from patients rooms on her abdomen to prevent her from standing so she could not attempt to use the restroom independently- instead of assisting her they put her in a diaper.

Very dirty facility

Stay away from this place! This is a disgusting facility. The floors have not been cleaned for weeks. Dirt all over. The nursing staff failed to order medication for my mother staff thought it was acceptable to skip the evening medication. The aids are rough with the patients. Patient was crying and screaming while aid put her in bed and changed her diaper/clothing. The aid had zero respect for patient she was caring for. Horrible place!!
