The food isn't great. That's the biggest complaint from my Mom. The activity program is wonderful. We would recommend this community to other families based on the experience so far

We recently toured. Moving to assisted living is very hard decision to make and transition can be very stressful. We wanted to truly know that we're making the right decision to move to this beautiful facility. This is why we decided to stop by on a weekend. When we arrived there was no one at the desk to greet us. After a long wait several residents approached us if to help. While waiting we asked the residents how they liked living there. They were very happy with the food and care helpers. They voiced ill feelings toward the administrator not listening to concerns uncooperative to help and cold. We were told if you move there don't expect too much from the administrator but everyone else is fine. The conversation with residents was concerning and confusing to us.

We showed up for the scheduled meeting and the contact wasn't there. Had not received any cancellation or request for change. Have not received any follow up since. This one off the list. However, kudos to the activities manager, who happend to be there on his day off and took extra time to give us a walk though.

I have been very disappointed recently with care issues and billing issues. I have attempted several different ways of dealing with issues and staff is unable to follow through. No response to emails or phone calls. I am left with writing a poor review...maybe that will get a response? I can only hope.

They just got bought out by another company, so it’s all gone downhill. Things have changed drastically. The staff has turned over a hundred percent. It’s just not the same place that it was and I’m not feeling optimistic.

This facility has declined sharply in recent months. Rents were raised and now every other apartment is empty. They seem to be short staffed everyday! Staff is paid minimum wage and you never see the same face twice. They don't even provide disinfecting spray or wipes to clean the common areas. For all the extra charges and high rent, the services just aren't there. The building is beautiful though and newly painted. Food is decent but always cold and the dining staff is terrible.

If you are looking at Alpine Springs for your parent keep looking. The food is disgusting. After complaints the management nothing has changed. If you eat there take plenty of water to wash it down. They are definitely not resident oriented. There are NO activities. They could at least have Bingo.

Excellent food and food service people. The food was the only positive part. Some of the care staff are wonderful, but, not fully trained before they are allowed to work alone.

Very VERY disappointed with the Administrative/Managerial staff at Evergreen. Today ([date removed] move in date)was supposed to be a great day for my 84-85 yr old parents. After months of being on a wait list, multiple conversations, deposit submitted. Extensive conversations from the initial meeting about my Mother's health and mobility, They were set to move in to Evergreen. Two weeks ago they were informed on the day/meeting they were set to sign papers that Evergreen "did not have the adequate staff to assist with my Mother's needs" and that they would be denied from Evergreen. My sister ( a has been upfront about my mother's mobility. We took a tour of the facility, had lunch.. toured the cottages, a room in the main building. Never were told there was a chance of denial. Let us put down a deposit.Parents had their house up for sale..what if it had sold before Evergreen pulled the rug out? Extremely disappointed with the administrative staff and the professionalism how this was handled.

Hard to believe this 16 story assisted living complex does not "allow electric wheelchairs", they say because the users are scuffing the walls and floors. SERIOUSLY?? SO, IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS USING YOUR HANDS YOU NEED TO LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE! IF YOU NEED A MOTORIZED CHAIR YOU CAN'T LIVE HERE.

My brother has sent two of his favorite shirts to be laundered and they weren't returned to him. I gave all categories listed a #1. Only need for improvement, in my opinion, is a better laundry system of accountability for residences to have all of their laundry returned to them.

Was great before the management changed to Nile Living mid 2023. Now run entirely for profit at the expense of the residents. Completely terrible and the executive director is a truly evil person. Services are promised and not furnished, then other charges will show up randomly taken out of the residents bank account with no warning and they will not reverse them. Food is awful, staff is limited and the garage isn't secure. They stole over $[removed] from us in "guest meals" that they made up and stole it directly from my mom's bank account

One thing that I don't understand is that Timber Point keeps running out of food. Their selection of food items is not the best either. About two weeks ago the residents stopped going to the dining hall for meals because the food was so bad. The employees were delivering meals to the residents, in their rooms, which they normally charge for... Another problem with this place is they seem to want to isolate residents from friends and family. This is not good for elderly people. The employees here have no problem scaring the residents with eviction if they don't do what say...even if it is wrong. I would advise anyone looking to move here to question some of the residents before making the choice to live here.

Care services are scheduled and no one visits. There is no new resident orientation. Asking staff for help often leads to misinformation and confusion. Food is ok but service is terrible. Food is often published but not what is written on the menu. Servers do not tell residents before serving meals that it’s not the published preparation. Most orders are served incorrectly. Housekeeping is not given enough time to clean apartment.

Don't go to this community. We had constant problems. The food was gross, the communication was not between the staff and the family and the staff in general. They had an issue with keeping up with medications and often didn't give them. I would not recommend this community to others.

I can only say, go there, take the tour, listen to your guide and then see through your guide and look around at the people, and residents there. Even the aides. Ask some residents questions, visit with the place and employees. Very few residents look to be happy, one of the residents told me that he believes there’s something going on there that keeps him from saying his price of mind some of the aides and the administration in fear he will be removed from his home. Something needs to be done here. The administration and the aides need reviewed. Residents shouldn’t feel threatened to speak up.

Unless things change, we are going to move our relative. If you do chose Calaroga, be sure that a relative visits your love one daily because the staff is not looking out for the best interest of residence. We have noticed others moving out. It is hard to staff to address our issue or answer questions, they are hard to communicate with because they do not return calls. The food is good and the staff is friendly but appear to be over worked and in crisis mode all the time. Do not move into the Care unit, they are having numerous problems, complaints, and turnover.

If you are considering moving to a retirement facility, be careful. We moved to Pacifica Calaroga Terrace in December. Services were promised, but not provided. After some research, we discovered the facility was under State of Oregon investigation for many violations and resident complaints. We are moving out this week at a great deal of cost and frustration. Before choosing a similar facility check with their state licensing agency to get up-to-date info.

We have had nothing but trouble with Calaroga Terrace. The food has been terrible, the waitstaff has been underpaid and under trained. The bed bug infestation has been terrible as has the slow rate of response to the continued outbreak. We have not had full access the all of the facility, yet the rent increase has been substantial for those of us on a fixed income. We have been through 4 executive directors and none have really had a command presence nor have they had the ability to correct issues, such as the poor food quality - despite constant complaints. The city, county and state have all been alerted and none have been able to receive adequate responses from the executive director. Recently I spoke with a nurse who works on the care floors and she says that they are extremely understaffed and that she would not recommend the facility for anyone needing assisted living - that says a great deal. The BBB has been contacted, A Place for Mom has been told, obviously the city, county health department, state ombudsman is very aware, many rooms are vacant (the only place in Portland without a waiting list - THAT should tell you something) and I strongly encourage anyone considering this place to go and see for yourself, eat the food, talk with residents, don't take the word of this resident without seeing for yourself. Ask them what they think about the "fitness" program and whether or not there is a trained and certified person in charge of it. I have no desire to either fabricate or exaggerate anything, please see for yourself! And then ask yourself why A Place for Mom would support it and what that says about this website...
